Quarters at Flinders Hotel

Quarters at Flinders Hotel

📍 Cnr. Cook &, Wood St, Flinders
★★★★ 9.0 (65 reviews)

"From the moment we arrived, our experience at the hotel was smooth and welcoming. The check-in process was efficient, and the hotel itself was easy to locate, which made our arrival stress-free. A special mention goes to the front desk staff, who were not only accommodating but also genuinely lovely to engage with. His local knowledge and friendly recommendations, especially for our wine exploration, added a personal touch that made us feel right at home. Our room matched the expectations set by the photos in the advertisements. While the space was more compact than others we’ve seen at a similar price point, it was impeccably clean and well-maintained, which I particularly appreciated. Though my partner, who is quite particular about bedding, was initially dissatisfied with the bed quality, we were impressed by how promptly Adam and the team responded. Their thoughtful gesture of a handwritten card and a complimentary bottle of wine was sincerely appreciated and showed a true commitment to guest satisfaction. Overall, it was a fantastic stay. We would happily return and recommend the hotel to others looking for a friendly and tidy place to stay."

Jackalope Hotel

Jackalope Hotel

📍 166 Balnarring Road, Merricks North
★★★★★ 9.0 (43 reviews)

"Jackalope is a modern hotel set in a large vineyard on the Mornington Peninsula. We stayed there because of its recent Michelin rating. We were a little disappointed. The building is a modern addition to an old house which has been very well executed. Inside however, it is rather dark and little depressing. The staff were well-trained and helpful. Rooms are well appointed and the restaurant lived up to its well-deserved reputation. The food was very good and there was a good wine list. The only criticism we would have was breakfast – there was only one included dish. For example, if you wanted granola, followed by a cooked breakfast, that was extra (and it was by no means cheap). Overall, although we enjoyed our stay, we sensed a lack of generosity. Good hotels in this price bracket typically offer some unexpected complimentary extras that create a very positive impression. But everything at Jackalope went onto the bill."

"Great place for an overnight stay while moving house. The Heritage next door is great for a meal and a drink and the shops (bakery, cafe etc) are across the road, as well as other restaurants. Bed was comfortable, shower was fantastic and the room was clean. Furniture a little outdated; however, everything worked. Set back from the road, so it was pretty quiet. We had a spa in the room; however, had to pay an extra $70 if we wanted to use it....so we didn't. Decor was a bit of a shrine to a local winery. With a slap of paint and some updated furniture and blinds (maybe get rid of the spa and pop another bed in) and this place would be better. Would probably stay again and recommend it to family and friends if they could not find anything else."

"Rooms with garden views have no view and are connected to the adjacent garden. There were big ants on the bed, and there were small glass shards in the bathroom that came from nowhere. There was black rust on the bottom of the water pot and it could not be used, but I could not find customer service that night."

The Balnarring Motel ★★★★
"On a recent road trip, I found myself on the Mornington Peninsula looking for a place to stay... Booking Dot Com has this listed. When I read the reviews they were a mixed bag - remaining open minded and I ONLY really needed somewhere to lay my hat after a long day, I booked. It's very easy to locate on the main street in town... and it's surprisingly quiet for it's location. The driveway is very generous and parking was super easy. It is walking distance to the supermarket and restaurants. The room was dated and I felt like it was in a bit of a time warp. There was a spa in the room which I was not aware of until I arrived... but the warning on the spa - "If the spa is used there will be an extra charge of $70 per night" was just odd and didn't sit well. If I had known about the spa at the time of booking I would have arranged one IF I had wanted to use it, rather than calling reception to arrange it before 7pm as per their odd note. The walls were adorned with items that made no sense... it was almost like a trophy wall of a nearby winery. It looked like advertising, but poor advertising. It's a bit hit and miss, but ... would I stay again... maybe. I got a good nights sleep here and there were some great features such as the ease of parking. To note, with a few upgrades, this place would most certainly be well sought after."
