Posted on Jul 13, 2024|High Floor Two Queen Beds (Plus Sofa Bed)
Barry(HK)Room cleanliness and air conditioning were good. Beds were comfy. Breakfast was simple but good in quality. However the breakfast queue was long and food replenishment was not done in pace with the flow, ended up in a long queue not moving as people stayed in the front of the queue stayed in the queue waiting for replenishment. The dinning space was insufficient that could not accommodate the big crowd.
We ran into issue setting up the sofa bed. Calling the front desk asking for assistance we were stunned by a reply saying they would not send staff to help but urging us to try for another attempts and kept reassuring us the sofa bed operation was simple and easy. Finally we got that sorted out with help from other hotel customers..
A major disappointment that totally ruined my experience with the hotel was the way my enquiry was handled towards an unknown charge after I checked out.
In the check out bill, it was just a charge billed to my credit card without indicating what service or item I was billed for. While my family did not order or buy anything at all from the hotel and we were in a rush, I did not check the bill upon check out until 5 days later I saw it in my credit card account. I sent an email to the hotel reservation (that was the only email channel I found from the hotel home page) to enquire about the charge and no reply was received ever towards my enquiry and that's what I was hit. Although the unknown charge was refunded after another week, I did not feel good with the way they work. I frankly accept mistakes made by the front desk or the account team for incorrect bill, but I do not accept ignorance and zero communication from the backend on my enquiry. This is something the hotel should improve.

Guest UserAs a family of three, we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel, I definitely book again. Very close to shopping and highway 417. Hotel located in a very quiet area.
I should thank Mr. Soheil at Reception who was very kind and helpful. Breakfast was also very good included hot/cold meals and fluits

Great stay. Central location downtown. Comfortable bed and pillows. Felt relaxed and revitalized. Room as upgraded at check in by the receptionist so that was a bonus!

Guest UserThe hotel's location is excellent. You can walk to all the bustling streets nearby, and I could see the Parliament building right from my room. The front desk service was great. If you're driving, valet parking is available for around 60 Canadian dollars, paid at the front desk, which I believe includes the tip.

The hotel is new, the TV is large, the parking lot is 35 plus tax a day, but it can be unlimited times, it is convenient, the room has water, the only drawback is that the shower room is stained.

psushkoWe stayed at the Lord Elgin Hotel the night before our wedding, and it was a wonderful experience. The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was calm and pleasant, just what we needed before the big day. The valet service was quick and efficient, though it’s good to know there is a $44 charge per night. Overall, everything felt smooth and well taken care of, and we’re glad we chose to stay there for such a special moment.

Guest UserWhere to begin... first of all, when I made this booking, there was no mention whatsoever of HEAVY DUTY CONSTRUCTION beginning every day at 7 a.m. Naturally upon checking in, I'm informed that there is intense construction happening right next door. And yes, it was brutal. I also SPECIFICALLY booked this hotel because there was an option to reserve now, pay at the hotel. Here are some direct quotes from my booking confirmation email: ”You'll need to pay upon check-in at Andaz Ottawa Byward Market, by Hyatt,” ”Your payment will be handled by Andaz Ottawa Byward Market, by Hyatt,” and ”Pay at Hotel.” Sure enough, I get there, and the money's already been taken out of my credit card and I owe nothing to the hotel upon check-in. (This matters for reimbursement purposes at the company I work for.) Lastly, I was told when I checked in that housekeeping would be visiting every third day -- that was fine by me. But the very first day, I come back to my room after a long day and someone's been there, replacing towels, removing the minimal garbage in there, etc., which I was not at all prepared for given that I was advised the opposite. It made me extremely uncomfortable because all of my personal effects were left throughout the room, not expecting housekeeping given that I was advised no housekeeping would be coming until the third day. I'll be honest, that creeped me out as someone travelling alone. The staff were apologetic but I didn't find their explanation at all sufficient. (The housekeeping manager and front desk attendant completely contradicted each other.) Overall, such a chaotic stay. Oh, and, the heat in my room didn't work. Had to request a space heater... I mean, c'mon.

The hotel's location is quite convenient, close to most main attractions. The downside is that upon checking out, I was informed about an extra charge, which was annoying.

The hotel is on the roadside, there are convenience stores and many restaurants nearby, very convenient, there is a bus stop, the front desk lady is very cute, said Ottawa is very safe, if there is any danger, she can help me call the police, let me rest assured to play in Ottawa, breakfast is to the front desk to get a paper bag, There is a small dessert and a bottle of yogurt ➕ a juice. The soundproofing effect of the room is average. Parking at the door and someone passing by can be heard. It is on the first floor, and there are two floors in total. A short transition for one night is still no problem, Ottawa is not fun, and the attractions can be punched in for a day.
