The hotel is a bit far from popular attractions like Tsim Sha Tsui and Causeway Bay. A HKD 500 deposit is required upon check-in, and they accept RMB. There's a McDonald's, a 'cha chaan teng' (local cafe), and a convenience store nearby, so food options are pretty convenient. There's also a bus stop right outside the hotel; you can take 4 stops to reach Wong Chuk Hang MTR station. Although the room is a bit small, it's very clean. Overall, it's still quite good.

The location is excellent, and the scenery is absolutely beautiful, making it super convenient to get to the University of Hong Kong. However, some of the furniture is quite old, likely repurposed old pieces. The cleanliness is okay, I guess. Overall, it's on par with an Atour Hotel in mainland China. And the fact that you have to pay for water... I'm still trying to process that. I ended up buying a bunch of my own water to drink.

This seems to be an apartment building converted into a serviced apartment hotel. I booked a two-bedroom suite, which was quite suitable for a family of three (the child could stay in the smaller room with a bed about one meter wide). There's pretty much no room service, but it's quite close to Kennedy Town MTR station. There are supermarkets and snack shops nearby. It's a two or three-minute walk to the seaside, where there's a small plaza. Overall, the value for money is decent.

The room was incredibly comfortable with an amazing view! The gym was small but the treadmills overlooked the sea, which was a nice touch. The pool was very clean! The staff were exceptionally attentive and enthusiastic. Overall, a fantastic experience! However, the Malaysian food at the restaurant was just average and could use some improvement. Generally, it upheld the consistent Shangri-La standard and is a super convenient choice for staying on Hong Kong Island.

I recommend this hotel, not because of its warm service – in fact, I was quite dissatisfied with the front desk staff, who were expressionless throughout and didn't seem friendly or welcoming. However, the hotel offers great value for money and is just a stone's throw from the Zoological and Botanical Gardens, making it incredibly convenient for getting to Central. I was staying in the Kai Tak area of Kowloon and only chose to stay here for one night specifically to visit the gardens, and it was the right choice – the price was affordable and the room size was suitable. However, I do think Hong Kong hotels should learn from their Japanese counterparts; since it's a service industry, a warm and friendly attitude is always necessary. Even if it's just for a few minutes, they should at least pretend! It's no wonder my friends choose to fly directly to Japan for holidays instead of Hong Kong; it truly has a lot to do with the quality and attitude of Hong Kong hotels. Compared to the slippers provided by the hotel and the ones I brought myself, it's as if Hong Kong hotels provide nothing at all... All in all, I would recommend this hotel to friends, and I hope that next time I see the front desk staff, they will combine professionalism with a smile – the two are not mutually exclusive.

Overall quality of accommodation and facilities are top rate. The hotel feels a little out of the general way of HK island cbd however with the MTR within 7 mins walk and the trip to Central taking less than 10 mins, the hotel is a bit of a ‘gem’ yet to be discovered. I ordered and picked up fantastic dinner at the restaurant a few times. The concept of a lobby lounge open to residents to enjoy free all day coffee and basic kitchen facilities such as microwave ovens etc to heat up food is a ‘new’ concept for a hotel however has great merit. This should be advertised more freely by hotel to residents. Rooms are very big for HK standard and with USB ports incorporated into basic electrical plugs makes it easy for guests to be connected. The latest smart TV with access to a fairly large channel bouquet plus access to free wifi and tv smart connectivity to mobile phones also makes it easy for guests to stay connected with their favourite programmes.

The hotel is just a minute's walk from Exit A1 of Sai Ying Pun MTR station, though it takes about 5 minutes to actually get to the train platform from that exit. You can also walk 5 minutes to the Water Street stop for the A10 airport bus, which gets you to the airport in about 35 minutes. There are lots of restaurants and a wet market nearby, which is very convenient. The price is great; a sea-view room for just over 400 during the May Day holiday was fantastic value for money. The room is quite small, but that's pretty standard for Hong Kong. Don't miss the rooftop view, it's absolutely beautiful. The room is very quiet if you don't use the air conditioning, but the AC unit is incredibly loud – so much so that it's impossible to sleep with it on. You could turn the AC on during the day and then switch it off before bed. The carpet smelled like stinky feet, like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. I also felt like there were bed bugs, as I woke up with many bites.

My stay at Best Western Plus Hotel Hong Kong was truly a perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and warm hospitality. The location is incredibly convenient — everything feels within reach. Whether it’s public transport, sightseeing, or simply exploring the city, getting around is effortless and stress-free. The room was impressively clean, spacious, and well-maintained. It offered a relaxing atmosphere with plenty of space to unwind. The bathroom was equally well-kept, with great functionality and attention to detail that reflects a high standard of care. What stood out the most was the staff. They were genuinely friendly, approachable, and welcoming — never cold or distant. Even simple services like luggage storage were handled with kindness and a smile, making the whole experience feel personal and comforting. A small but memorable detail was the consistently fresh and pleasant scent throughout the hotel, which gave a sense of cleanliness and thoughtful maintenance at all times. Overall, this was not just a place to stay, but a place that made the entire trip feel more special. I would definitely return without hesitation.

Room Environment: My 'premium room' with frosted, non-opening windows turned out to be a 'cemetery view room' or 'mountain view room,' right next to the Hong Kong Cemetery. It was surprisingly quiet though. I imagine a city view room might be a bit noisy since it's by an elevated highway. Cleanliness: Not great. I felt like the countertops weren't wiped down, there were water stains everywhere, and I even found a long hair from a previous guest on the wall. Facilities: Besides the disposable toiletries, they provide basic amenities like a fridge, hairdryer, makeup mirror, kettle, and even hand soap and body lotion. However, everything is quite old; even the plastic cups had scratches on the inside. On the bright side, there's a free pinball machine downstairs which was pretty fun. Service: The front desk staff were okay, and they spoke Mandarin which was helpful. You have to buy toiletries yourself from a vending machine downstairs, and there's no water dispenser in the room; you have to get water from one in the hallway. If your room is near the dispenser, you'll definitely hear people filling their bottles. Value for Money: If it were around 500 RMB, a cemetery view room would be great value. But I booked three weeks in advance for over 700 RMB, and it was non-refundable, non-exchangeable, and I couldn't even change the guest name. Then, closer to the May Day holiday, the price was practically cut in half! So, keep an eye on the pricing when you book.
