"I recently spent two nights at The Metro Hotel (豪爵大飯店台中館) in Taichung, and overall, it was a very practical, comfortable, and well-situated experience. Located right on Wuquan Road in the West District, this 3.5-star property strikes an excellent balance between affordability and convenience. If you are looking for a reliable base to explore the city, here is a detailed breakdown of my stay.
The room was spacious, exceptionally clean, and featured a nice view of the surrounding city. The bed was on the firmer side but very supportive, providing a great night's sleep after long days of walking. A major highlight for me was the climate control. I absolutely need a cool sleeping environment and always set the thermostat to 21°C; thankfully, the room’s air conditioning was powerful and maintained that crisp, chilly temperature perfectly throughout both nights.
There are two minor caveats to the room:
• Electrical Outlets: There are very few power outlets available. If you have multiple devices to charge (phone, laptop, power banks), I highly recommend bringing a small travel extension cord.
• Soundproofing: While the room itself was peaceful, the door soundproofing is a bit lacking. You can occasionally hear other guests in the hallway or neighboring doors closing.
The hotel provides all the essential basics without overcomplicating things. The bathroom was roomy with great water pressure and came stocked with standard toiletries. A huge plus for travelers is the self-service laundry room located on the 5th floor.
The front desk staff were consistently friendly, welcoming, and helpful with luggage storage. It is worth noting that they strictly enforce their 4:00 PM check-in time—you generally cannot get into your room a minute earlier—but they do offer a generous 12:00 PM check-out, allowing for a relaxed morning."
"Really great hotel, super close to train station, it offers breakfast and the restaurant is really nice, and comfortable. Area even though is conveniently located, there are too many people living in the streets, although that’s not the Hotel’s fault, but just for you to know that you might misjudge the hotel’s location because of i"
"First time booking accommodation and I found this place to be really great! The six-person room has a projector and a small table with a sofa where we could all sit together and watch movies, which was very cozy. The bathroom has two separate areas for showering simultaneously, with a wet and dry separation. The room itself is very spacious, and the front desk and housekeeping staff all have excellent attitudes."
"The hotel was clean and nice, but the windows were thin, so there was a lot of draft and noise, which was a drawback. Since I was with a child, I wiped the floor so they could play, and found quite a bit of dust in the crevices. The bathroom ventilation for humidity wasn't great either, but it wasn't a major issue during our stay!"
"The Place is a great find in Taichung. Clean, modern, with fantastic service and staff who go above and beyond. Rooms are spacious and clean, and have everything you need for a short stay. Breakfast is so-so. Delivery is possible, and there’s a park and museum right across the street. Easy walk to Calligraphy Greenway. Recommend for a short Taichung stay!"
"The location is great, very close to Taichung Station, and the service was decent. The only downside was the small room, with no space for luggage, and the bathroom was also cramped, with the sink and toilet too close together."
"This hotel is in a perfect location very near to the Taichung Train Station and just a short walk to the famous Miyahara, making sightseeing and travel incredibly easy. Having a 7-Eleven nearby was also super convenient for quick snacks and essentials. Absolutely loved the breakfast buffet options, which offered a great variety of delicious choices every morning. Another huge plus was having a bathtub in the room, which was amazing to enjoy and relax in after a whole day of traveling. While it was a bit weird that the self-service laundry machines were located right by the children's playground area, the overall experience was still good and convenient. Highly recommend staying here!"
"Moxy Taichung is a Marriott property in Taichung. Its youthful design and excellent location, including its proximity to Showtime Cinemas and the MRT station, are definite pluses."
"This is our second stay at a Tango hotel in Taiwan. Overall, it was still a good experience. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, the room environment was nice, and the breakfast selection was decent. However, there's room for improvement in terms of cleanliness details. There were some hairs left in the bathtub area, and noticeable water stains on the mirror. Other than that, everything else was impeccable. I would definitely choose to stay here again next time I visit Taichung."
"Room felt massive for that price in Taiwan. The shower was separated from the bathroom which is always nice. You will have to do a little bit of walking to get around but that's true for all of Taichung. Would totally stay here again when I return to Taichung its an amazing city."

Very Good
GGuest UserOverall, it was a good stay, but there are a few drawbacks to consider:
1. They didn't inform me before check-in that I needed to purchase a membership card to extend my stay for a second night. Otherwise, I'd have to check out and then check in again. While it wasn't a lot of money, it left a bad impression.
2. The check-in time was a bit odd.
GGuest UserThe front desk staff were polite but a little cold, though there were no issues with their service. The location is excellent, just a three-minute walk from Taichung Station, and there are plenty of convenient dining options nearby. The room facilities were all in working order, and while the room itself was on the smaller side, it offered great value for money. It's perfect for travelers who just need a place to rest and briefly stay.
GGuest UserOverall, I was quite disappointed.
Right from check-in, the staff couldn't find my reservation, and they even asked for my surname in English, and the number and gender of guests, which was a bit odd.
I noticed a lot of things because I was waiting for my luggage in the lobby for a very long time. The seating area around the art installation in the lobby was dusty, especially the back rows, and the outdoor area was full of fallen leaves.
While I was busy with my child and family arranging crafts, my luggage had already been taken to the room. When I realized I needed my carry-on bag, the staff said they would retrieve it from the room for me (we hadn't even checked into the room yet). I had a carry-on with my child's daily essentials, and my child needed to use the restroom. So, we waited in the lobby for that bag for nearly 20 minutes.
Regarding the other facilities, the welcome tea was incredibly simple. The window in our room had large water stains on the glass (I initially thought it was fog). Below our room, there was an area with weeds and what looked like abandoned moss, which felt out of place. It seemed like the most effort the hotel put in was the gardening, and I couldn't understand why this particular area existed; it was a huge contrast.
Considering all meal costs are extra, it really didn't offer good value for money at all. The food, however, was very good, and the laundry service was a plus. All the staff members were friendly and welcoming.
If the room rates were lower, I might consider revisiting. But if the prices and facilities remain as they are, I won't be returning.
SSavaiiiBooked a quad room, and the size was pretty good. The beds were huge, and the bathroom was spacious. Breakfast was just okay, not much variety. You can ask the front desk for bottled water. The location is also quite good. Overall, it's a nice place, and the facilities are well-maintained.
GGuest UserCheck-in at 4 PM was a bit late, but the Taichung Park nearby was a nice bonus. It's within walking distance of the Yizhong Street Night Market. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. It's great that there's a hot and cold water dispenser in the hallway. The room was quiet and the bed was comfortable, so I slept very well. I highly recommend this place.
AAnonymous UserLocation - I’m not sure if we just missed out on what’s nearby. But we did walk on the sides, we were searching around of what’s there to see. We didn’t see much, like we realized after walking for a few minutes that we just found the convenient store which is kinda far if that was the nearest available (or again, there could be one the other side we don’t know haha).
So after walking around, and realizing there’s nothing much to see. We already booked an Uber going to the night market.
It wasn’t that far from the HSR Station. I couldn’t remember the exact distance and travel time. But if I find it far I’d normally remember it and say it.
Service - it was an easy check-in and check-out. Though, I almost forgot to get a receipt. Had to proactively ask for one. Luckily we decided to stay for a bit after checking out, we remembered it and got to request for it.
I like how they already asked upon checking in if we need a room cleaning service. That was convenient.
The breakfast was so so (on my personal taste bud). Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t that bad.
I love the room the most! We were happy about how spacious it is. And it has an AI box which we loved. The bathtub has a tv, the shower area was spacious, the ambience of the room, hallways and lobby. The free snacks. The brand of the body wash and conditioner. The free Nescafe machine in the lobby.
I’d definitely recommend it and I’d stay here again.
(Though I still have a pending concern that I have to figure out myself, cause the amount showing in the invoice was different from the amount showing on tha app. Haven’t checked how much was the final amount taken out on my card)
The late check out costs Ntd$1,000/hour
GGuest UserFacilities: The room wasn't huge, but it had everything I needed. The bathroom was very spacious with both a shower and a bathtub 🛁, which was great.
Service: Excellent! Every staff member was wonderful, especially Rich, who was incredibly attentive and made me feel very well looked after.
Cleanliness: Good.
Environment: The breakfast selection wasn't extensive, but it was decent, and they had my favorite, salad.
GGuest UserThe first day we arrived there was a city cleaning and so there were so many cockroaches on the first floor but the staff was trying to clean it and it's not their fault. The rooms are very spacious and nice. Breakfast also included and very delicious. (The fries are the besttttt) Tho you have to walk a bit to another hotel, the aunty there is really nice! They no longer provide you plastic amenities but i guess that's for every hotel in Taiwan. Overall a really nice place to stay!
GGuest UserThe Plaza Hotel is actually an older, well-established brand in Taichung. Its location is quite good, and the entire hotel has been recently renovated, so it's still very spacious and clean. It's conveniently located in the city center, making it easy to get to Fengjia Night Market, the Intercontinental Baseball Stadium, the new Hanshin Department Store, or Shinkong Mitsukoshi in the 7th Redevelopment Zone. There's parking available on-site. The hotel also offers breakfast, but you can choose a room-only option if you prefer not to have it. Definitely recommended!
GGuest UserWe enjoyed our stay at ICloud Luxury Resort& Hotel. The room is spacious and clean. The best part is the spa bath tub. Although the tv in the front of spa bath tub didn’t work but we can watch the TV in the bedroom.
The buffet style breakfast is included in the booking and there are so many options. They even have a juicer for making your own juice!
They have plenty of parking spaces in the basement and also two electric car charging station. As of the food options around, there’s a family mart right next to the hotel. Fengchia Night Market is 20 minutes walk away.
