"This was the second hotel I stayed at in Barcelona. Its location is excellent, right next to Plaça d'Espanya, making transportation very convenient. There are supermarkets, convenience stores, pharmacies, and bakeries nearby, which pretty much covers all guest needs.
The only downside is that the room was a bit small and felt cramped, though the bathroom was quite spacious. Housekeeping requires a request; otherwise, they only clean when staff are available. On the second day, after cleaning, they didn't replenish the bottled water. Good thing I bought a large bottle from the supermarket. I had to specifically ask the cleaning staff for water on the third day, otherwise, none would be provided.
When I had some free time, I was able to use the gym downstairs. The rooftop bar and pool were temporarily closed due to a Category 10 hurricane, so I didn't get to experience them. Overall, the value for money is still decent."
"This hotel's location is incredibly convenient. I took a high-speed train from France to Barcelona Sants, and I could check in directly from the station.
I stayed for 4 nights: two days for sightseeing in the city and two days to watch F1 at the Circuit de Catalunya. Getting around by metro or local train was super easy and saved a lot of energy.
The room was spacious and quiet, and the blackout curtains worked wonders (you have to know how strong the Spanish summer sun is!). There was a safe and a large wardrobe. The bathroom had a separate shower and toilet area, and a double sink. They replenished two bottles of water in the fridge every day.
The breakfast was excellent! Everything was delicious, and there was a great variety of fruit. The staff were very friendly. I have absolutely no complaints! 😆"
"The hotel is conveniently located just a 3 minute walk from the station. While it’s not in the busy city centre, it’s very easy to reach the main areas. The surrounding area feels safe at night, with people busking near the nearby square. I recommend taking the Aerobus from the airport, the hotel is the first stop on the route, only 10–15 minutes from the airport, and the stop is right in front of the hotel, making it very quick and convenient. The room was larger than expected compared to the photos online. The staff were friendly and informative. Apart from the sink being a bit old with some limescale, everything was clean and comfortable."
"Although we only stayed for one night, we were very satisfied with our overall experience. The room was a good size, clean and well-maintained, with plenty of natural light and a bright, airy atmosphere. We also enjoyed the street view from the room.
The location is very convenient, with both a metro station and bus stops just a short walk away, making it easy to get around. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, as well as several supermarkets within walking distance, which was very convenient.
We would especially like to compliment the front desk staff for their friendliness and helpfulness. They made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. Overall, we had a pleasant experience and would happily recommend this accommodation to other travelers."
"The hotel is just a five-minute walk from the train station, and there's a subway station right outside, making it incredibly convenient for getting around! Plus, there are three supermarkets nearby, so you can find anything you need!"
"Onix Fira seems like a junior hotel in that it has a great deal of potential, but consistently falls short and seems to be having some crisis of identity and growing pains as a hotel.
TLDR: I would not stay here again at the rate I paid at booking. It is a decent hotel, but one should only pay $105-$120/night for what it offers.
Here’s what’s going right for it:
- very clean facilities and room
- located across from a mall that also has a grocery store , which is great for grabbing anything you forgot to pack or raw veggies
- a nice 2nd floor reading area
- a nice rooftop terrace for doing yoga if you bring a mat
I have 3 years of experience working for major brand hotels. Here’s where I think Onix Fira can stand to improve:
- greeting guests at reception (did a guest have a long journey? Express curiosity, compassion and enthusiasm for the effort they’ve already made. No one wants to be on a 14 hour flight and be received by someone in a bad mood who looks like they have better things to do).
- common sense fixes: a) put hooks on the bathroom doors so guests can hang wet towels, b) have a soap dish for your soap, c) the consequence of imitation stainless steel buttons for the toilet.. they leave fingerprint stains that look gross, d) have a blanket or bedspread available in the room and not just the top sheet even though it’s hot out, e) add hair dryers in bathroom, f) have a complimentary bottle of water ready for guests when they enter tthieir room, especially if it’s 90 degree weather in the summer. That’s humane. And no one charging $200/night+ has any business offering less
- more pool lounge chairs during the summer
- advertise with photos that don’t use a fishbowl lens, be honest that the pool is small
- advertise honestly that one must climb 1.5 slights of stairs to reach pool. That’s an accessibility issue for disabled guests
- have replenished towels available for guests
- have the pool hours actually open during posted hours
- offer activities for solo travelers to socialize; you have a whole beautiful 2nd floor level that could be a great space for games, wine tasting, a silly interaction of your choice. I never saw anyone use this space and activities could make the stay more worthwhile.
- offer concierge services and recommendations
- have a manager on duty available to talk to guests 7 days/week
-consider different hallway lighting than red light; red light feels like a *******
Some specific stuff that went wrong in my stay:
- key card for room stopped working after one night
- power/electricity/AC went out 3x in one night
- no one advertised there was construction in front of the hotel .. a total eyesore and noisy during weekdays
- drunk guy wandering my floor thst no one stopped at reception and/or no one accompanied him to his room to make sure he wasn’t upsetting
- no manager or person with decision making power was available to answer questions
- no complimentary services offered for various inconveniences, not even empathy offered
Hope things get better!"
"Toilet paper wasn't consistently refilled; some days it was, some days it wasn't. Water bottles were only provided on the first day of our stay. The location is good, right outside the metro station, but there are quite a few shady characters around.
Cons: The restaurant is right next to the elevator on the ground floor, and also close to the main entrance, which feels a bit insecure. Anyone with bad intentions could easily follow you into the elevator and up to the rooms.
One day, after housekeeping had cleaned, I came back to the room and the entire place reeked of cigarette smoke. 🤦🏻♀️"
"The breakfast had a wide variety of options and was delicious. One bottle of water is provided free of charge each day, and they will leave it for you when you have your room cleaned. There are restaurants, a laundromat, and a supermarket nearby, making it very convenient. My room was on the third floor facing the street, but it was very quiet and I slept soundly every night. I requested a room with a bathtub, and there was one in the room, but there was no stopper, so I stuffed a rolled-up plastic bag into it. There was a kettle, coffee, tea, and other necessities. Of course, there was a refrigerator, but it seemed to be a chain hotel with many locations around the world, so it was quite expensive."
"The apartment was okay, great location, about 15-20 mins walk to Pg. de Gràcia & Plaça de Catalunya. There is no staff at the apartment, the entrance code was received before check-in. There is an elevator for travellers with luggage.
The apartment was tidy but some areas were a little dusty. Soundproofing was pretty bad even with the windows closed.
There is a welcome pack given with oil, salt, pepper etc. Dishwashing liquid and 1 laundry pod was given as well. There is also dishwashing tablet, even though there's no dishwasher in the apartment. However, there is no kitchen towel. Bathroom amenities were also very minimal for our 4-night stay. Drying rack was also broken.
Additionally, there is a security deposit of €300, they only returned it more than a week later after messaging and reminding them. I doubt they will return the deposit if I didn't ask."
"The staff are eager to provide service with willingness and smiles. Good location, just approx.5 mon walked from Espanya Station, also near Aerobus station. Compact room, perfect for relaxing. It would be great if there was a water bottle in the room or a kettle."

Great
HHuanqiuyuzhoulvxingjiaHotel Ohla Barcelona boasts an excellent location in the heart of downtown Barcelona, just a few minutes' walk from Plaça de Catalunya, Palau de la Música Catalana, Casa Batlló, and Passeig de Gràcia, making it incredibly convenient for sightseeing. The hotel's hygiene is impeccable, and its decor is luxurious, with a highly artistic design evident in both the restaurant and the lobby. The staff are attentive and enthusiastic, very proactive, and pay great attention to detail. Upon arrival, we were greeted with complimentary champagne, tea, and iced drinks. The breakfast is high-class, offering champagne, salmon, premium jamón, as well as Chinese pan-fried and steamed dumplings, and miso soup, all of which are delicious. The rooftop outdoor pool provides a spectacular view of the city skyline – truly a luxurious vista! The only drawback in the room was that the shower's temperature control was sluggish, and the water temperature adjustment seemed slightly faulty. Nevertheless, this is an outstanding five-star hotel!
AAndrea_tutiangeThe room was exactly as shown on the booking page. What you see is what you get. Toiletries and disposable slippers were also provided. We arrived late on our first day and didn't have time to buy water, so the hotel gave us a bottle, which was very nice! We booked a standard double room, but it had a small balcony overlooking the pool and outdoor restaurant. The view was lovely.
The security was also very good; nothing was lost during our several nights. We also noticed that the automatic door at the entrance was manually controlled by the front desk, so unauthorized people wouldn't be able to get in.
GGuest UserThis was my very first time planning a solo trip abroad, and I was admittedly quite anxious after paying the full price and then reading some mixed reviews. Since the policy didn’t allow cancellations, I checked in with a bit of worry—but I’m really glad I did.
The room turned out to be pleasantly clean and well-organized. I particularly liked the layout: there are two doors between the bedroom and the bathroom, which gave me a strong sense of privacy and security while resting. Another highlight was the lovely scent in the room—it instantly made me feel at ease and almost like being at home. (If possible, I’d love to ask what kind of aroma sachet or air freshener is used—I’d like to buy the same one!)
During mid-November, the evenings in Barcelona were slightly chilly, but the heating/air-conditioning unit in the room worked well and kept things comfortable. That said, when the unit is turned on, there’s a noticeable mechanical noise—it’s not too loud and didn’t disturb my rest, but worth mentioning.
I also appreciated how responsive the staff were. On my first night, I thought the external shutter in the room was broken. I reported it to the front desk, and the manager quickly sent someone to assist. It turned out the shutter was manually operated by a cord hidden behind the inner curtain on the far right—easy to miss at first glance.
Although the hotel isn’t in the city center, transportation was convenient—there’s a nearby bus stop within walking distance, with easy access to both the metro and Sants train station.
A nice bonus: just a 3-minute walk away is a bakery called Joncake & Wine, a branch of the famous Joncake. Their Basque cheesecake is incredible, and being a branch, it’s much less crowded than the main store. There’s also a small convenience store right downstairs—great for picking up water or other essentials.
One downside would be the soundproofing. The walls and floors seem quite thin, so I could hear voices and footsteps from the neighboring room. It wasn’t too disruptive for me, but worth noting.
Originally, I only planned to stay three nights, but I ended up liking it enough to extend for another three. Overall, this stay exceeded my expectations and became a memorable part of my solo trip to Spain.
GGuest UserThe room was quite spacious; my friend and I had no problem opening up both our suitcases. The water pressure in the bathroom was excellent, making showers and hair washing quite comfortable. The location is pretty good too – a bit far from the subway but there's a bus stop right outside. It's super convenient for getting to Casa Milà, Casa Batlló, and Sagrada Família. The area feels safe, with plenty of food and drink options nearby. The staff were very friendly and spoke English fluently, so communication was a breeze.
However, there were a few issues. Firstly, there was no shower curtain for the bathtub, so the bathroom floor was soaked every time we showered, and it got quite chilly after a while. Secondly, the duvet didn't have a proper cover; instead, two sheets were used above and below it, and all three layers were tucked in so tightly under the mattress by the staff that we had to struggle to pull the duvet out every night. We ended up asking the front desk not to make our beds for the rest of our stay. Though, I hear this duvet cover situation might be common in Europe. Lastly, the soundproofing was really poor. We were lucky our neighbors weren't too noisy, and my friend and I aren't particularly sensitive to sound, but you could honestly hear every little thing happening next door. All in all, it was a mixed bag, but for the price and location, we couldn't really expect much more.
TtaeliThe room equip everything you need, but it's a bit small. The location is very good, can walk 15 minutes to the beach and 30 minutes to the main spots
GGuest UserAfter a lot of deliberation and some safety concerns, I finally booked this place, and it was absolutely fantastic! The location is super convenient, really close to the subway. The residential area is clean and safe, and there's a supermarket right across the street, which was incredibly handy for getting food. The biggest surprise was booking a room with a terrace – totally worth it! Every evening, I'd enjoy a drink on the terrace while taking in the mountain views. Such a lovely experience, and amazing value for money!
GGuest UserIt was a very clean accommodation and plenty of towels were provided.
It was a little inconvenient because laundry was done in a shared facility on the 5th floor, and I was a little disappointed that they assigned me a room with a rear view without even asking how many rooms had a view of the Sagrada. There is a rest area and a pool on the rooftop, so it would be nice when the weather is nice. The location is far from major tourist attractions, so it's a bit inconvenient to take the subway every day, so if I had to do it again, I think I'd pick it near Plaza Catalunya.
GGuest UserThe room itself was really good: clean, comfortable and spacious. However, my first impression of the stay and the stuff of the hotel was suboptimal, which coloured the whole experience.
I arrived at the hotel at about 1 p.m. First thing that surprised me was the fact that there were actually 2 hotels and only one of them had a check-in desk, to find which I had to ask around. When I finally arrived at the reception, I was second in line as there were some people checking out. While I was waiting a family (parents and a child) came in, and then one more group of travellers arrived. When the receptionist was done with the people who were before me, I asked to be checked in. In response, I got told that she was going to check the family in first. She wasn’t apologetic or nice about, she told me this as if that was what always happened and not that people got served in the order of their arrival. I am sure the family really appreciated what she’d done and I wouldn’t have minded either if that action was followed with acknowledgement of this not being okay and an offer of some services to recover their reputation. Not only had I not got an apology or anything like that but also I was again bypassed for registration as the receptionist decided to invite 5 people who came in later on to check them out. At that point me and other people in the line were quite baffled by the behaviour and understood that there was nothing fair about this interaction.
After I was finally checked in and went back to the other side of the street for my hotel, the room pleasantly surprised me. It was clean and had all the necessary amenities. However, I was a bit confused at first by the thing you need to do to get electricity. I was told by a friend that the system of inserting the key card into a specific slot in order to get electricity is now the norm, but this month I’ve been to 5 different hotels and all of them had different systems and none of them were this particular one, so I personally would’ve appreciated a heads up or an informative poster on the door. The only downside of the room that I found was that that side of the street was quite loud. It was much better with the windows closed, however, if you are a light sleeper, I recommend taking ear plugs.
The rest of the stay went pretty okay for me, but that first experience unfortunately is something I’ll never forget.
If you are travelling as a family, I would imagine this hotel would prioritise you over other guests any time, so maybe that’s just who they cater to. As a solo traveler, however, this was not what I was expecting.
GGuest UserThe check in experience was so horrible. After I presented my passport to the receptionists (3 guys) in hotel front desk, they kept requesting me to show the boarding pass of my cancelled flight. If i could not show it, they don’t allow me to check in. I argued with them why I have to show my boarding pass and how can I have boarding pass if my flight is cancelled. They insisted I have to show, otherwise I could not check in. Their attitudes were so rude and I spent almost 40 min to show all documents I have on-hand, then they gave me my room key. The room assigned to me is not so comfortable because it is on ground floor without window facing outside streets. I don’t think it is tourist friendly at all.
GGuest UserThis hotel boasts an excellent location, very close to Sagrada Familia and the metro station. Although I didn't try the hotel breakfast, there's a cheap and delicious breakfast spot just a two-minute walk away that opens at 7 AM. The front desk staff were all very friendly, and check-in was a breeze.
The downside is that the rooms are generally a bit old and small, and the walls are not well soundproofed. In my room, there was only a duvet cover and no duvet, which the front desk said they couldn't provide, so it was a bit cold at night. There were also no mouthwash cups in the room.
