Great customer service. Room was very spacious and comfortable. I loved the room provide the matcha green tea ceremony experience. The location is not ideal but the shuttle service helps a lot. It would be more helpful if they post the shuttle service on their website. I found the shuttle info via guest reviews. Overall, we had a great time staying this hotel. I would love to come back again.

The room with tatami mats has a traditional Japanese taste! It's a pity that the soundproofing is not very good, so I can only use the air tones to talk to my friends. You can hear the sound of talking next door and even the alarm very clearly😂

Overall, it's clean and spacious. The garden view room, however, only faces an air shaft, so there's absolutely no difference whether you open the window or not 😂. The bathroom is very spacious, but you have to get drinking water from a communal dispenser outside the room. Also, if you don't hang the 'make up room' sign, they won't clean it.

We chose this guesthouse based on reviews and were not mistaken. We lived together in a room with separate single beds, there was enough space for two even with unpacked suitcases. The bathroom is small, but clean enough, there are towels, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. The room has a hairdryer, refrigerator, kettle (which is great because there was no kettle in the hotel room in Osaka, which was extremely inconvenient). In the common area there is a microwave and tea bags. On the first floor there is a laundry with free powder. Nice and helpful people work at the reception: upon request, they provided an iron. We also liked the location. Overall, we were pleased with our stay at this guesthouse.

The hotel's facilities are quite good, though the only minor drawback might be the poor soundproofing. There's a bus stop right in front of the hotel, offering convenient access to major attractions in Kyoto. The subway station is about a 20-minute walk away. As for the amenities, the hotel is well-equipped with individual shower rooms and toilets on each floor. The washing machine and lounge area are located on the fifth floor. Please note that the hotel does not have an elevator. If you have large luggage, you can inform the front desk to arrange a room on a lower floor.

The location is near Kyoto Imperial Garden. It takes a few minutes to walk to the subway entrance, which is still a bit far, but the hotel has that old money feel. The service standard is there. You can ask for a room that is not on the side of the road. It is still pretty good. The keys are very retro, the bathroom is also very large, and the room is also very large. I just forgot to take a picture of the room.

The location is fantastic, and public transport is incredibly convenient. A two-minute walk to the left brings you to the subway, which offers direct lines to Kyoto Station, Nara, and Uji. A ten-minute walk to the right, and you'll find bus stops with direct routes to Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion) and Kiyomizu-dera. Nijo Castle is so close you can even walk there – it's unbelievably convenient! There are also plenty of convenience stores nearby, which I really appreciated. They replenished mineral water and towels daily if you hung the 'make up room' sign, a service rarely offered by budget hotels. The room was very clean, and there's a coffee machine in the lobby on the first floor – perfect for a pick-me-up after a long day of sightseeing. Breakfast was also excellent; even if you arrived late, there was still a great selection of food. The staff were incredibly attentive too! When we were the only table left, they noticed we'd nearly finished the apple juice and came over to refill it. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Kyoto. I'm truly, truly satisfied!

I really liked the shower with a bathtub, and the capsule hotel itself was in good condition. However, I was a bit disappointed with the service. I guess it might have been a unique situation. After checking in and going to my locker, there was a note saying I had an important message and to come to the counter. When I went, they told me someone was sleeping in my room? Excuse me? I was given room 106, but then they told me the guest from room 119 was sleeping in 106, and asked if I could just use room 119 instead? Room 106 was on the first floor, and 119 was on the second, and I was so tired from walking that I really didn't want to go up to the second floor. I initially asked if I could speak to the person who was supposedly sleeping there, using a translator. They said okay and went to check, but then there was no one in the room? But they said someone was sleeping there... There were signs of someone being there, like a charger, an overturned blanket, and other belongings. I asked them to contact me if they managed to talk to the person, but after a long wait, no one showed up. It was past 11 PM, and I just wanted to shower and sleep, so out of exhaustion, I said I'd just use room 119. After I showered, they brought the person from room 119! It was a foreigner, and all three of us were using different language translators to communicate, haha. They asked if I wanted to switch rooms then, but they weren't going to change the bedding again... I felt uneasy about it, so I just said I'd use room 119 and went to sleep. I really feel the initial handling of the situation was very disappointing. I still don't understand why someone was in a different room to begin with. Anyway, that's what happened, haha.

RReneehuangHighly Recommended Stay in Kyoto I would like to strongly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Kyoto. The staff demonstrate exceptional professionalism and hospitality. In particular, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Miss Yuki, who assisted us with our check-in and kindly introduced many wonderful sightseeing spots and activities in Kyoto, as well as to Miss Tsai, a ********* staff member who supported us during check-out with great warmth and care. Their thoughtful service truly reflects the welcoming spirit of Kyoto and the hotel’s commitment to excellence. I am genuinely impressed by the quality of the team members who bring guests happiness and satisfaction through their dedication. They truly deserve recognition and applause for their outstanding service. Our two-night stay was far too short, and we are already looking forward to returning in the near future.

GGuest UserI've stayed at a few Keihan Group hotels, and they've all been great, but this Kyoto Station South hotel is particularly excellent. The Chinese-speaking front desk staff provided fantastic service during check-in, making me feel truly at home. I also got lucky this time; I arrived at 12 PM and was able to check in early. The daily breakfast is also incredible value for money; 1980 yen on its own isn't expensive at all, and it's an absolute steal when bundled with the room. The 11 AM check-out time is very reasonable, and the luggage storage facilities are excellent, making you feel very secure. However, the self-service lockers fill up quickly, so you often have to leave your bags with the staff. All the amenities are thoughtful and convenient. The only minor drawback is that the expensive hairdryer is too large, taking up space and being awkward to use in the small bathroom. In the afternoons, you can also enjoy complimentary coffee and drinks at the restaurant. The location is unbeatable; it's right across the street from Hachijo Exit, making shopping, dining, and public transport incredibly convenient. The bus to Kansai Airport is also nearby, which is much more comfortable than taking the train. I will definitely stay here again next time I visit Kyoto.

Great
IiamnotdelicateThe basic room type isn't in the main building; you have to walk up to the main building each time to have breakfast or soak in the onsen (hot spring). And it's not a real onsen; my friend's superior room was the real onsen. We were given a small room at the back of the hotel, but thankfully there weren't too many graves. When I asked the staff at the entrance to take photos for me, they were very reluctant and had a sour face. At night, on my way back to my room from my friend's, the receptionist on duty in the lobby was also very rude. Overall, I was dissatisfied with the service. The facilities are excellent, very new, and the hotel is quite small, but that's typical for Japanese hotels. The decor is also very nice; the aesthetics are on point. There are at least three cemeteries and a bunch of shrines nearby; bring some amulets if you like.

GGuest UserThis hotel offers incredible value for money! It's super convenient, just a 5-minute walk from Kyoto JR Station. The streets on both sides of the hotel are lined with small restaurants and pubs, and there's a medium-sized drug store (Don Quijote) at the corner. The room was clean and tidy, and we could see Kyoto Tower right from our window. I especially recommend the hotel's shampoo – it's really good! 😊 The room was spacious enough for two adults and two 28-inch suitcases, with plenty of room to spare. There are USB charging ports by the bed. There's no kettle in the room, so you'll need to bring your own and an adapter. The breakfast on the first floor is a set meal, costing around 60 RMB per person. Highly recommended!

GGuest UserAlthough it was short, I loved my stay here. Had great quality of sleep. Good base for Kyoto, near enough to key locations, but expect a lot of walking unless you use the bus. Nearest station is Kyoto Kawaramachi which is great for day drips just outside central Kyoto and if you are coming from Osaka or Kansai airport - see my tips below. Pros: great bathroom and toiletries, good water pressure and temperature, smart toilet, TV with streaming services, fridge, desk/stool, coat hooks (handy for winter time), semi-full length mirror, luggage rack, various lights to adjust to your preference, very clean, super comfortable firm mattress and pillows, good soundproofing for light sleepers, great air conditioning (room warms up pretty quickly in the winter), you can also open the windows which is nice, felt very safe as a solo female, can ask for more water bottles in reception, lift was never crowded, outlets next to bed, has luggage storage if you need, near the river and traditional streets for scenic strolls, close to bus stop, family mart otw from station for late night snacks. Cons: can hear police cars or cars with loud engines at night sometimes but not frequent, walking from the station with a suitcase was a bit longer than expected, my double room was a bit cramped for opening suitcase (could not open the front or bathroom doors fully to avoid hitting my suitcase) and I am one person (two suitcases would fit but you wouldn't be able to walk around the bed properly). Tips: If you are coming from Kansai airport (KIX), I recommend you take the airport limousine to Namba (bought a return ticket since it is cheaper). It drops you outside JR Namba station, you can go inside to get to the metro station, follow signs for the red Midosuji Line. Board the train to Umeda. Stay inside the station and follow signs for Osaka-Umeda or the brown Hankyu-Kyoto line. This line goes directly to Kyoto Kawaramachi station. When stations, always look for the lift signs if you have luggages. I think I took the lift closest to Exit 4, and it brings you up to a department store. You kinda have to walk through and get out. If you walk out the front entrance, there are a few steps, but if you go to the side doors, it has a slope to avoid carrying suitcases. It's a straight walk from the station. Unless you are doing day trips, Kyoto city buses are a lot better mode of transport in my opinion.

GGuest UserFacilities: My only complaint is that the king-size bed in the king room is made of two single mattresses pushed together, and after sleeping on it for a while, a gap forms between them. Hygiene: The hygiene is excellent. Environment: The surrounding area is very quiet, and there are convenience stores not too far away. Service: The service attitude is great, and the hotel even offers free shuttle service to Kyoto Station.

GGuest UserThe hotel is quite a long walk from Kyoto Station; it took us about 20+ minutes on foot to get there. You could take the bus, but it doesn't really save much time. There's a good ramen shop right next to the hotel that even gave our child a toy. The room isn't huge, but there's enough space for luggage. The lobby downstairs offers free coffee, which I enjoyed every morning.

DDr.p3pp3rI stayed here in a double room and overall had a pretty good experience. The room was clean and comfortable, and both the air conditioning and heater worked very well. One thing that really stood out was the bathroom — the bathtub was much larger than what you usually get in Japan. I’m a tall person, and I could actually sit down and lie back comfortably, which is rare. Most hotel baths feel very small, but this one felt closer to around 1.4m in length, which made having a bath genuinely enjoyable. The bed was comfortable, and housekeeping did a great job — the bed was made every day with fresh sheets. Wi-Fi was also very fast, which was a big plus. Amenities were decent, and you can pick up extra items if you need them. Check-in is a bit late at 3pm, which I didn’t love, but that’s balanced out by an 11am checkout. Having that extra time in the morning made it feel worth it overall. I did have a couple of negatives. The strangest one was finding an old sock behind the TV when I arrived. It was very obvious and not hidden, so I’m not sure how it was missed during cleaning. It was a bit gross, but I just left it. Another downside was the mini fridge — it’s more like a cooler than a real fridge. It keeps drinks from getting warm, but they don’t get properly cold. In summer, this really wouldn’t be good enough. Replacing it with a proper mini fridge would be a big upgrade. The other major issue was the lift. It is painfully slow, and there’s only one lift for the upper floors. On checkout day, I left my room about 10 minutes before checkout time, and I almost didn’t make it downstairs in time because of how slow it was. That part was honestly pretty ridiculous. Location-wise, this hotel is excellent. It’s very easy to get to from Kyoto Station — just head south and you’re there in about 4–5 minutes. It’s also very convenient when leaving Kyoto by train. A tip for using the subway: instead of going back to Kyoto Station, walk right from the hotel to Shijō Station. It’s on the same subway line, you’ll get on before Kyoto Station, and the train is empty — so you’re almost guaranteed a seat and can ride comfortably to your destinations. For food and shopping, there’s a shopping mall just across the road toward the station with a Don Quijote, McDonald’s, and other options. The hotel is also right next to a Coco Ichibanya curry house, which is fantastic and open late. Overall, despite a few odd issues, this was a solid stay with a great location, good comfort, and very easy access to transport. I’d happily consider staying here again.
