Amazing
Lliangdi 702Booked Phanya Residence for a trip to Luang Prabang with my parents during the Chinese New Year, and it provided us with a fantastic travel experience. The hotel is truly, incredibly beautiful, with its aesthetic evident everywhere, blending local Laotian charm with classic European style. We booked a family room that could accommodate four people; the beds and amenities were great. I particularly loved the oil paintings in the room, and the wooden floors felt lovely underfoot. But the most important thing, by far, was their incredibly thoughtful and professional service! I accidentally left my earphones behind, and they went out of their way to deliver them to my friend's hotel. The owner was so kind and helpful, even when I kept bothering them with emails at night. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. The location is excellent, very close to the Royal Palace and the night market, offering a quiet escape yet still being central. There's a temple right next door, which is wonderful. Plus, there are plenty of dining options nearby. If I ever go back to Luang Prabang, I would absolutely love to stay here again.

CChou LeSatri House – A Living Museum You Can Sleep In Staying here feels like stepping into a beautiful dream from another era. Every corner is a work of art. The furniture, the layout, the little details—they all whisper stories of old Indochine charm. It doesn’t feel like a hotel. It feels like you’re actually living in a graceful, historic home. The architecture is stunning, and the garden and pool are simply gorgeous. Peaceful, timeless, and so beautifully kept. The staff are warm and genuinely kind. We used the bikes from the resort to explore town, and it added so much joy to the experience. Breakfast is à la carte, and each dish was delicious—thoughtfully prepared, never rushed. And somehow, every time we stepped out, we came back to a perfectly cleaned room. It’s the kind of care you don’t often see. Satri House isn’t just a stay—it’s a feeling. One I won’t forget.

Great
NNuytsiaFloribundaOur stay had a lot of high points and a lot of low points. Starting with the high points, the grounds and room were incredible. Our experience at the spa was one of the best we’ve had. The cocktails and Laos-style burger we had for lunch one day were phenomenal. The staff were charming and very accommodating. However, there were a few aspects that were far below the experience expected of a 5 star hotel. First, cocktail service around the pool was abysmal. On almost every occasion we had to go searching for a staff member to take our order, and then the cocktails more often than not took more than half an hour to arrive. This is despite the fact that we seemed to be the only people ordering F&B at that time, i.e. they were not busy at all. Second, the breakfast was a disappointment every day - we were told we could order eggs or noodles, and had to repeatedly press the staff to find out what type of eggs and noodles, and we only discovered on the last day that there was a menu with additional options. We ordered poached eggs on toast, and the eggs had not been drained of excess liquid, and the bread was entirely soaked through. An order of waffles took over an hour to come out - first it was delivered as a pancakes, and then they just forgot about it despite repeated follow ups. The “local” Laos options lacked flavor - very little of the herbs and spice that makes Laos food great. I think this and the pool service issue are primarily the result of a lack of training and instruction for staff - they were clearly doing their best, but did not know what to do. Third, the pool area needs a lot more spent on maintenance. The decking is cracking and falling apart. The mosaic tiles in the pool are falling apart, A LOT of the tiles are missing, and I got a very large laceration on my forearm from the sharp edge of a tile sticking out. If this pool were in a western jurisdiction, it would not meet health and safety standards. Fourth, the gym was not worth visiting if you want to lift weights. Possibly the worst weights offering I’ve seen for a hotel of that price and with that much space. We want to reiterate how great and enthusiastic the staff were. I think this is primarily a management oversight, training, and maintenance capex issue.

Great
SShenhuiThis hotel is nestled in a valley, with several acres of rice paddies at its heart, creating a very natural and ecological environment. You'll often see cows, chickens, and cats roaming around. The breakfast selection is quite extensive, and the Chinese food is incredibly authentic. There are two Chinese staff members at the front desk, so communication was seamless for me. Although it's a bit far from the city center, there's a shuttle bus every hour, which makes getting around very convenient. Highly recommend!

MM432069****The hotel's exterior has a strong local flavor; every photo taken there is beautiful. The front desk has Chinese-speaking staff who are very friendly. While the room furnishings are a bit dated, the cleanliness is quite good. Because some rooms are under renovation, there's some dust during the day, but it doesn't affect occupancy. The only downside was that our room was on the second floor facing the street, and the noise from passing motorcycles at night was quite loud and slightly affected our sleep. Those who mind this should consider carefully before choosing this hotel.

AAzir ChristWe initially booked one week but decided to extend our stay for another week, which already says a lot about our overall experience. While there are certainly some areas that could be improved, we felt comfortable enough to stay longer and would consider returning in the future. The room was generally clean and offered good value for the price. We especially enjoyed having a terrace and a bathtub, which made our stay more relaxing (also for our cat). However, some attention to detail in housekeeping and maintenance would make a noticeable difference. For example, spider webs, dust around ventilation areas, and air-conditioning units should be cleaned more regularly. In our room (#13), the air-conditioner was heavily clogged with dust when we arrived, to the point where the cooling performance was noticeably reduced. We politely mentioned this to the staff, and to their credit, the issue was addressed immediately. We were very grateful for their quick response. Since then, the unit has worked much better. There is still a slight musty smell, so a professional deep cleaning of the air-conditioning systems once or twice a year would likely improve both air quality and guest comfort. One thing we appreciated throughout our stay was the willingness of the staff to help whenever a problem was brought to their attention. Requests were handled quickly and professionally, which is one of the reasons we decided to extend our booking. As digital nomads, reliable internet and a functional workspace are very important to us. The internet connection was stable and fast enough for our daily work, often reaching download speeds of around 8–12 MB/s. We also received a chair and an extension cable upon request, allowing us to comfortably use the large dresser as a workspace for our laptops. This was greatly appreciated! The location is another strong point. Two large supermarkets are within a short walking distance, making it easy to buy groceries and daily necessities. The Night Market is also easily reachable on foot, and the main road is just around the corner, where electric scooters can usually be found for exploring Luang Prabang. If we could suggest one improvement, it would simply be a warmer atmosphere from some members of the staff. A smile is never mandatory, of course, but it often makes guests feel more welcome. We would like to give special recognition to the evening female receptionist, who consistently greeted us with a friendly smile and positive attitude. Her kindness always stood out and left a very positive impression. Overall, we believe this hotel offers fair value for money, a convenient location, reliable internet, and a team that genuinely tries to help when issues arise. For those reasons, we chose to extend our stay and would recommend it to travelers looking for a comfortable base in Luang Prabang.

AAvrilIt’s quite a good hotel with a perfect location, rooms are colonial style, nice view from the rooftop. There’s a small gym on the 11th floor (like 2 thread mills and an exercise bike) and a swimming pool on the 12th. Good breakfast with a variety of egg dishes and even beef noodle soup.

PPaul ManhoodWonderful smaller hotel in a quiet part of Luang Prabang that doesn’t attract the large, noisy tourist groups. Hotel is right across the road from the Mekong river and breakfast is served on a platform overlooking the river which is extremely scenic and peaceful. The hotel is close to all the main attractions in the city and the host and staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful. Was delighted to stay here.

MM12605****The breakfast selection was plentiful and better than many chain hotels in China. Considering this isn't China and is a tourist area, where I once paid nearly 200 Lao Kip for a small guesthouse with a dilapidated bed in the attic, this hotel was incredibly good value. More importantly, many hotels of similar quality I've stayed in here only offered simple Western-style cold breakfasts, while this one served Chinese food. After talking to the owner, I learned the hotel was recently built, and all the appliances were from China. The most surprising thing was the bathroom floor. When you turn the air conditioning to 21 degrees Celsius in your room, stepping barefoot into the bathroom floor feels warm—you know the feeling of surprise. The hotel helps book shared transportation to and from the train station for 50,000 Lao Kip. There's also a large swimming pool!
