"The location and room type were fantastic! Being right next to the train station and ferry was so convenient, and I loved being able to walk along the beach. However, the room had a very unpleasant, damp odor—almost like old carpet or pet accidents. It didn’t feel clean at all, and I actually had to buy my own room spray to make it bearable. Great spot, but the room hygiene needs urgent attention."

"The check in process was very slow and the 2 males on the desk were not welcoming or friendly. The rooms were an ok size and the bed was very comfortable. The cleaners did a great job though the shower could do with a deep clean. There was no toaster in the room but it did have a microwave and kettle with tea and coffee (no hot choc). Curtains were nice and black out but there was a noisy bar court yard downstairs we could still hear quite clearly from floor 16. While there was no AC a fan and a heater were supplied. It was very close to the centre of town and did have parking if needed. We used Clifton carpark as the cheapest parking we have found in town max $26 per day."

"Ibis Wellington was located conveniently in the city and the harbour is just a few minutes away. It's convenient to walk everywhere, including shopping. The room we got was big and basic, including the toilet."

"Very satisfactory accommodation, everything is there, washing machine, refrigerator, stove, microwave, etc., I won't list them one by one, it has everything you can think of. This hotel is more attentive to business, it is very convenient for you to cook. The bathroom is not big but it is enough and clean. The room is just the right size and very comfortable. In short, it is better than expected"

"The room had multiple areas of built up dust that hadn’t been cleaned in a long time, and the shower had some mould in the corner and lots of soap scum around the bottles. The silicone holes in the shower head were all cracked and so the water dribbled down. I could also smell the drain. The additional windows installed (appreciate the building is historical) didn’t shut tight, which is a big problem in a windy city. The wind was howling through the window gaps when they were fully shut. Assume they were done as cheaply as possible. I was also a few doors down from the staff room, so I heard very frequent door slamming in the mornings which woke me up as it shook my door frame. There’s no way I’d be paying for full price for this hotel, but for a 50% off deal it was fine. The location is unbeatable and the bed was really comfortable. The room was a good size too."

"An excellent choice in Wellington. Plenty of restaurants down the street a block from hotel. Fruit and small grocery across the street from front door. 500 meters from Cuba street and lots of eclectic shops. Excellent value , room was large and nice. Love the staff there. IQ of staff was higher than mine."

"This was the greatest hotel I have ever stayed in. I'm over 'same same' hotels and marvelled at the grandness of the Wellesley. Of course, you can get 'grand' at lots of places but none have the class, history and location of this place. It was especially enjoyable because I am a Kiwi and value the heritage but I also loved the elegance of the staircase, opulent drapes, the timeless oak panelling, the well-placed wingback chairs, the high ceilings and ornamental plasterwork. On top of this, the hotel is right in the middle of the city, has a (welcome after a cold day) bath and possibly the whitest, fluffiest towels in the history of towels. It was quiet with a marvellously comfortable bed (with chocolates on the pillows no less). The staff were gracious and clearly have high expectations of cleanliness as it was spotless. "

"Great location, has everything you need in a room. Would be nice to have a view and to open a window but it is CBD. Check-in was swift, lifts are fast, ventilation would be the only downside. Had a great weekend. "

"The room is actually not as big as the picture, but the sanitation is very good. The front desk is very friendly and always provides the help you need. On the first day, I gave me a map of the city. After 2 days, I measured the seaside streets and piers with my feet. It is even more friendly for passengers taking the Airport Express AX. Under the intersection of Manners Street and Willis Street, walk south on the right hand side of the uphill road. Tea and coffee tubes are enough, and chocolate. I can't drink coffee anymore, I drink chocolate, and the hotel also prepared a large cup for me intimately. Very close to Cuba Street, in fact, not far from where to go. When I left, Beth happened to be off work, went home and drove BYD, took me to the airport, and turned a corner to see the filming place of the Lord of the Rings. Really friendly. If I go to Wellington again, I will definitely choose their home."
