Guest UserThe old gentleman was incredibly kind and friendly. He gave me a map and explained how to get around the area. The room was also very spacious, and the kitchenware was fully stocked. It was very reasonably priced and close to the city center; I could easily walk to the university. A big thank you to the landlord for even helping me with my heaviest luggage!

Perfect accommodation for couples. Cost and romantic. Accommodation is well maintained and spotless. Staff very friendly and helpful. 5” drive to Lanarch castle. Free admission to the castle for Camp Estate customers. If possible book Room3 which has a fantastic view of Dunedin. Plenty of cosy areas in the cottage for lounging an relaxing. Only problem is it’s isolated and hence meals may be an issue. You also need your own transport to get there . One small issue during the stay was the room fireplace doesn’t work despite best efforts of the staff to rectify it. Highly recommended.

The room was very spacious and had great natural lighting, which I really appreciated. It felt comfortable during the day and overall the space itself was quite nice.
However, the WiFi was extremely poor. Even basic social media would keep buffering, and trying to watch a show at night was almost impossible — it would pause every couple of minutes. Since there’s not much to do around in the evening, this was pretty frustrating.
Another thing that felt a bit uncomfortable was the mirror placement next to the bed upstairs. It’s not directly facing the bed, but if you turn to the side, you’re basically looking straight into it. I know this might not bother everyone, but in some cultures (like feng shui), having a mirror facing the bed is considered bad for sleep and overall comfort, so it felt a bit odd to me.
The bathroom was also a bit annoying — the fan automatically turns on with the light and can’t be switched off separately. It was quite loud, so even using the bathroom felt uncomfortable after a while.
Parking space was decent in size, but getting out was inconvenient. I had to reverse multiple times because the space behind wasn’t very wide.
Overall, the room itself is nice, but the WiFi and some layout details could really use improvement.

小妞兒This hotel is very close to the city center, making it convenient to go anywhere. There's also parking right outside the hotel entrance, which is great for travelers with cars. The rooms have a lovely artistic feel, and the outdoor spaces are also filled with an artistic atmosphere. I loved it!

Sandra DraytonLove staying at the Victoria Hotel and have stayed there 4 times before. I had surgery booked at Mercy hospital and Ray booked for 4 nights for his convenience. Love all of our experience, thanks to Ashley on reception when we arrived making us feel so welcome. Had 2 dinners and drinks with friends there. Especially love the Orange Roughy fish which I have every time. Ray and Sandra Drayton

Overall, this accommodation was excellent and exceeded our expectations. The unit was very spacious, well-maintained, and spotlessly clean upon arrival, which immediately made us feel comfortable and at ease. The layout was practical and suitable for both short and longer stays, with ample space to move around and relax.
One of the biggest advantages was how easy the place was to locate. Clear directions and a convenient location made check-in smooth and stress-free, especially after a long journey. The surrounding area was also quiet and pleasant, allowing for a restful stay.
Cleanliness was clearly a priority, from the rooms to the common areas, which we truly appreciated. Overall, this accommodation offers great comfort, convenience, and value. We would definitely recommend it to others and would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.

Guest UserThe hotel is located in the city center, only 5 minutes walk to the First Church and about 10 minutes to the train station. Parking is convenient and there are many places to eat. When checking in, there is no front desk and you have to call. The hotel is old but very clean. The elevator is too old and a bit scary. I bought bread for breakfast at the supermarket. There are bowls and basins.

chiichan_desuyoIt was a really great backpacker hostel! I can also convince you that the word of mouth is very good.
First of all, there is a lot of cleanliness. The shared space is beautiful and all the guests use it cleanly. Each room is also beautiful, and it is also great that the bed on the lower stage has a curtain and can be closed.
We are also prepared to drink hot chocolate and tea. New Zealand was cold in autumn, so I was very happy to have a warm drink when I returned to the hostel.
It was an early check-out in the morning with a late check-in, but he contacted me in advance and responded politely.
Also, it was a nice hotel that I would like to stay!

I stayed at the Law Courts Hotel recently, and it was a bit of a mixed experience. The building is very old and hasn’t had much renovation. The bathroom still has those separate hot and cold taps, which are inconvenient, and the carpet looked quite worn and not very clean—it definitely feels like the place could use some updating.
That said, the location is fantastic—right in the heart of Dunedin, so it’s super convenient for getting around. It’s also very affordable, which is a big plus if you’re on a budget. Just keep in mind that being so central means it can be noisy; Saturday night, in particular, was hard to sleep through with all the street noise.
Overall, if you’re after a budget-friendly place in a great location and don’t mind the quirks of an older hotel, it’s worth considering. But if you’re looking for something more modern and comfortable, you might want to look elsewhere.
