"We are Malaysian & can speak mandarin. Don’t worry if you’re non-chinese speaker, they will try their best to communicate with you.
Sonzhuju Coffee & Tea Holiday Villa is convenient for those who bring big luggage. They have a service to help carry your luggage too, from the main road (approx 170m). And please let them know once you arrived at the main road! The hotel is away from loud noise & busy from the main area. Cosy place & strategic for us staying in 3D2N. The room was clean. Breakfast included, but for Muslims, please mention that you’re Muslim, then they will prepare you veggie options. And you can choose to have your meal in your room or their eating area.
Ai Fei, a local host from the hotel, was very helpful in arranging our customised tour trip. We texted the hotel via WeChat 8–9 days prior to our arrival in Lijiang. We asked if there was any local there who could advise us on the trip and straightaway they made a group for discussion. He'd make sure that we were all okay & happy to discuss our plan to visit any area that we would like to go to. He arranged our private car trip to JDSM & Blue Moon Valley and brought the ticket for us too. Upon we'd arrived at the hotel, he served us a welcome tea, fruit and flower cake. From the next morning we are going to JDSM & Blue Moon Valley. He advised us on what the do’s and don't prior to our trip. The private driver that he helped arrange for us was also very helpful & patient to ensure that we felt safe going to the place (group chat). He also helped to arrange a private car for us to Shangri-la. Overall, he made our plan and trip smoothly.
As for the Muslims, you can ask him or the hotel host to recommend where the nearest Muslim restaurant they will definitely find for you.
Overall, definitely recommend staying here. We are happy with our stay here."

"The hotel is conveniently located among many of the city’s most popular attractions, making it easy to explore the area on foot. Although the staff were not very talkative, they were incredibly helpful and always willing to assist us whenever needed.
The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. We especially loved the traditional architecture, which added a unique charm to our stay and made the experience feel much more authentic. Definitely worth trying if you’d like to experience a classic local-style accommodation."

"I absolutely loved this hotel and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Lijiang.
Although the hotel is located a little outside the Lijiang Old Town, it is still very convenient and only a short distance away.
I would give the staff 10 stars if I could. They were incredibly kind, friendly, and always willing to help with a smile. They assisted us with carrying our luggage up and down, recommended local attractions, and even gave us small farewell gifts when we checked out.
One thing I will never forget is how they helped us order food delivery when we needed it. Their hospitality and attention to detail made our stay truly special.
Thank you for making our trip so memorable. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Lijiang."

Both the hotel and its restaurant offer plenty of Instagrammable spots, making the price quite reasonable. Otherwise, when visiting the ancient town, you'd end up going to a cafe anyway to sit, have coffee or tea, and enjoy the slow pace of life. This hotel completely saves you that extra trip; you can do it all right here. The bedding is clean, the pillows are comfortable, and the bathroom features a 'wet and dry' separation, showing thoughtfulness for guests at every turn. They even provide a humidifier, small hangers, laundry detergent, and a delightful souvenir tea cake making process. Waiting for the tea cakes to form while sipping tea and chatting is a wonderful way to enjoy life. It was a fantastic experience overall. I highly recommend it to friends and will definitely choose Shanlan Xipan Hotel again on my next visit."

"YIYUN hotel was the best hotel that I ever had in my china trip so far. Clean and cozy design with beautiful wood art. They gave me free tea and flower cake which was very delicious. In the corridor there was a lot of area to sit and have tea. Because I have been for 3 days they grant me a free transport to lijiang train station which makes my journey easier. The blankets was very clean. This Orel is very near the ancient city which you just need to walk few minutes to reach to so many beautiful places recommend by them. Overall I can say I enjoyed and I recommend it to who needs good quality and price is very reasonable."

We booked a 'snow view' room, which was spacious and comfortable, and relaxing on the balcony was pure bliss. The hotel's facilities are comprehensive, including a gym, a swimming pool, and even a spa. They also offer a variety of activities, like feeding animals or tea tasting. Even though it rained during our stay, it added a unique charm to the atmosphere. Christin at the front desk was very attentive and kindly asked about our stay experience. I would definitely come back again if I have the chance!"

"The breakfast selection was quite good, with rice noodles, a simple salad, fruits, and pastries. It's super close to Heilongtan Park, just around the corner. If you want to see the 'Golden Mountain at Sunrise,' you can get up early, and you can even see the snow-capped peak from the rooftop. The owner is lovely and kind, and the front desk staff are very welcoming; they even helped carry my luggage to the car. Thank you! The only minor downside was that the room facing the alley was a bit noisy at night, probably from people returning late from their outings. Overall, it offers great value for money."

"The hotel was not perfect, but I still rated 5/5 mainly due to the staff's super helpfulness.
I highly recommend communicating with the hotel via Wechat beforehand. Taxis cannot reach the hotel's front gate, so you should ask the hotel to provide you with the address where taxis can drop you off.
For us, we asked the hotel to help us book a pickup service from the railway station (40 CNY). While on the train, I chatted with the driver via Wechat and asked him to wait for us at the exit. It was very worth it as we didn't have to struggle with finding taxis outside the train station. Also, since the hotel knew what time we arrived, they also came in time to pick us up from the taxi drop off point and helped us with our luggage. It's about 200 meters' walk from the hotel. The hotel's gate is called Reading is Boutique (see my photo). I would have never found it had I not booked the pick up service.
What I like about the hotel's location is that although it's a bit far from the main attractions (400m from the main square and 800m from the water wheel), it's very quiet. If I had booked a hotel in the center of the old town, I'd have suffered from immense noise from the nightclubs there.
The hotel owner / staff (I'm not sure who he was) was super kind and helpful. He didn't speak English so we mostly communicated via Wechat where I could use the built-in translation tool. He gave me all information I needed and responded to my questions very quickly.
Their breakfast was tasty - a bowl of noodles with 2 eggs per person. I ate the same breakfast for 3 mornings and didn't even get bored.
On the second floor, there's a balcony where you could sit and enjoy a beautiful view of the old town.
Our room was located on the ground floor. To be honest, it's a bit outdated already. The bed was not very comfy, and there was no door between the sleeping area and the toilet (only a curtain). However, it was fair enough with such a good price.
It seems there's only one lady who does all the cleaning and housekeeping. She prepared breakfasts for us and helped us clean the room. However, we found a half-open bag of food from one of the drawers in our bedside cabinet - perhaps from a previous guest. Not sure how long it has been there though. I think rooms need better cleaning.
Overall, if I had to choose again, I would still stay at this hotel. I appreciate all the transparency in communication, the location, and the vibe of this hotel. Highly recommend it!"

"What a hidden gem! I stumbled upon a review of this hotel three months ago and immediately booked my trip to Lijiang. I was a bit nervous before arriving, fearing I hadn't done enough research and might be disappointed by a decision made purely on a whim. But to my surprise, both days here exceeded all expectations. From the moment I checked in, I felt right at home. The location is perfect—quiet yet central. Just off a small lane, you're greeted by a charming vegetable garden. The hotel's food was also incredibly thoughtful, organic, and delicious. The room was very comfortable, and I truly didn't want to leave. I even bought a bottle of their homemade chili sauce on my way out. I hope they keep up the great work; we'll definitely be back!"
