Atlantis Palace Hotel ★★★★

"We stayed here on the 29th May this year. We were supposed to be here for a week but on arrival, we were told our room would not be ready for half an hour. We went for our welcome drink and returned half hour later and asked if our room was ready? Instead of being shown to a room inside the hotel, we were directed across the driveway into a red building, next to the hotel laundry. Our 'room' was part of this building, we had no window, no view, and the garden chairs and small table were placed outside the front door, in front of the red wall! Not happy, we asked to be moved into the hotel and were told that we had booked a low budget room. We argued that we had absolutely not booked a low budget room - we were celebratong our wedding anniversary, why would we book low budget! We were told that the hotel price was more expensive which we were willing to pay to get us out of the 'hovel' we were put in, to be told that the hotel was full. If there were any cancellations, we would be told and offered another room. This never happened. We moved the chairs and table a bit further down but then we discovered that the drains were blocked and there was a horrible smell. It was awful, there was another couple in a room next to ours and the man smoked and so we were breathing in his nicotine fumes. Enough was enough - we looked at another hotel nearer to the city, as this area was really unclean, unkept and poverty stricken, none of which we were told prior to booking. We were in literally the middle of nowhere. The next morning we asked for a taxi to be booked for us and told the staff we were checking out. The 'Director' of the hotel was called and wanted to offer us another room but at that time, it was too little too late, they had failed to help us on arrival, and we felt we had no choice but to leave. Please please avoid this hotel and area at all costs, The whole city of Catania is dirty and run down and is not fir for tourists."

"We traveled for the new year 2026. The staff, especially Maria was very helpful and accommodating. Rooms were set up being quite spacious. My main question is if it’s a B&B or a badic hotel. If is a B&B: It lacks the normal equipment for a b&b as the rooms do not have a kettle and/ or a kitchen where one can place and use the areas. No cooker, no fridge and not cutlery It is a hotel: The reception us adequate and has a friendly approach. Breakfast was good with all the Italian goodies especially this time of year. Definitely it lacks a vending machine where extra drinks, sweets can be bought. What is lacking , which can be added at a very minor investment is Room AC left not powered off from the isolator No need to keep asking for karta igenica. It should be supplied as part of the housekeeping Shower gel should be provided all through the stay and not only for one wash. The co owner said we should bring ours. An extra room card should be given. Only one card supplied and hence being two in the room did not work. Cleanliness was very good. Clean towels, sheets and room. Keep it up. Hot water readily available and shower pressure was excellent The place is peaceful, well kept and excellent for a stay. Gardens and pool area are beautifully maintained. Views of the nearby Mascali up to the Etna make this place the right location for a short holiday The owners need to decide if they are going to run the place as a hotel or a B&B. Then they equip it as such. Cannot be both. Minor improvements and definitely it can make it to the five star mark."

"It was an unusual experience as we expected to be welcomed in this structure but we had to wait for the owner. The room was small , without rooms to support the bags , with modest cleaning and with basic furniture and with unstretched bedroom . The most disappointing moment was breakfast, without a comfortable time band : 2 cornets 2 marmelades and a glass of water from the rubinette . Little hygiene and so much powder , even in breakfast dishes , But Nunzio is the real character, which you need to know: born in the sea but with the desire of the mountain , his great dream and aspiration ."

"The WiFi did not work and the bedding was very uncomfortable. The food was terrible as the bread was often very hard. The rest of the meals were often undercooked and options were limited. The room was cramped and the plug sockets were in inconvenient places, such as behind the wardrobe."

King's House Hotel Resort ★★★★

"Overall this hotel is quite nice. I came with the school on a trip and we stayed here overnight. The food isn't the best, in fact one of my roommates vomited during the night. The rooms are very large, and the whole thing looks like one. The palm trees, the heat and the swimming pool give liveliness to the place and make it as if we were in Hawaii. They deserve 4 stars, especially for the balconies in the rooms and my friends and I chatted and made friends with American kids more or less our age. The staff was very kind and active."

"A random booking to fit between My Etna and Taormina proved an excellent choice. New, pristine and incredibly helpful. The staff more than willing to help pack a breakfast for an early start up My Etna. Excellent pool to swim in with views of The volcano through beautiful planting in the grounds. The rooms are well appointed and the staff provide a bountiful breakfast. They do not do dinner, a drive to local restaurants is required."

"The guesthouse is very comfortable, and the family that runs this B&B is very nice. Nunzio, the son, used Google Translate to communicate with me and helped me get to the train station, find train routes and order transfers. For this I am very thankful. It was nice and homey to sit outside and have breakfast. When staying at this location it is best to have a car. "
