"We booked the Honey Sun cabin for four nights and it was delightful. The cabin is rustic but clean and vibrantly decorated. It is totally private at the end of a winding path. We were never disturbed and in fact we never even saw the other cabins as they are so secluded. They had renovated since we booked the cabin so we were surprised to find the outdoor, two person jetted tub on the patio. Relaxing in the tub at the end of the day, with a marvelous view to the mountains across the valley, was wonderful. The spring fed infinity pool again has stunning views. We had dinner one night in the cabin which was great. Breakfast each day was superb, beautifully presented, a really good spread of fruits, yoghurt, granola, scrambled eggs and a choice of pancakes or sausage etc. A coffee maker with excellent coffee was great. Javier, the owner, and Siân were super nice and helpful. This place is incredibly special and you should not hesitate to book it!"

"Hotel Cipreses is a definitely a little more on the basic/rustic end of hotel stays, but if you're spending all of time exploring Monteverde it provides all you need! The location is great, very close to hiking/nature watching opportunities as well as town. Parking was a little tight as it seems there as only 5 designated spots, but the receptionists helped accommodate our vehicles without issues. There wasn't really any hot water for the showers, but we only stayed 2 nights before moving on so it wasn't a big deal to us. The breakfast in the morning was delicious!"

"Fantastic place! We had a great time there. The view from our cabin was breath taking, changing as the clouds and sun kept changing. The sound and sight of birds were part of the experience and the whole thing was amazing. Javier and Siân are great hosts with extensive knowledge on the area and tours available. The swimming pool is lovely along with the viewing deck up above with once again, incredible views. Facilities inside the room were perfect too. Would go back any time!"

"Otherwise amazing hotel plagued by rude staff and tour buses. First, this a hotel is used by Americans in bus tours - expect hundreds of them any given time. Second, the staff is incredibly rude. We had an issue with our keys and the reception employee, Ana Belen, refused to help us or even try to understand the issue. TV turned up by itself in the middle of the night. The toilet flush situation is terrible, there is simply no pressure. The good thing, hotel is nearby the Cloud Reserve, breakfast is good and pool looks good."

"The accommodation car park is very close-by. We were very warmly greeted by our host, Sergio, who helped us take our luggage to our rooms. The en-suite rooms were well maintained, very clean and comfortable. He explained about breakfast arrangements, etc. Throughout our stay, Sergio provided numerous recommendations of what we might like to visit, where to eat and also helping us with bookings. It is difficult to imagine a better host. The breakfasts were excellent and he definitely added tremendous value to our visit. A big thank you to Sergio and Katia!"

"This was a wonderful friendly hotel with a personal feel. The rooms were the perfect mix of rainforest lodge living and comfort. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and were keen to tell you about wildlife that had been seen in the property. Particularly of note were Mike (see you in Manchester!) and Rudolpho & the girl who checked us in (can’t remember her name unfortunately). We saw a troupe of coatis walking past our room (we had to shoo them away from trying to come in!), peccaries, agoutis, hummingbirds on a bush right outside our door, a woodpecker and best of all toucans. The food was very good and we also did a cocktail making class with Roberth which was really interesting. The little touches made it exceptional - free mini bar on arrival, able to borrow binoculars & wellies, free activities & turn down service at night, including a hot water bottle to fend off the chill. Only a short walk into Santa Elena although it is a very steep hill."
