Romantic Hotels in Tioman

"Upon exiting the ferry in Tekek village, a bus was waiting to transport tourists. Check-in at the hotel went smoothly; our two connecting rooms matched the booked criteria, located on the ground floor of a two-story bungalow with a garden view. Housekeeping always occurred at the same time, which was very convenient, but there was an issue with towel replenishment. We often had to seek out staff and ask for them, though eventually, they started bringing even more than we needed. Water is refilled promptly, and if more is required, it's provided without any problems. The hotel always has a shortage of beach towels, and they only become available for distribution from 9 AM onwards, which is quite inconvenient. The beach bar also starts operating at 5 PM, which is a bit odd. The breakfast buffet in the main restaurant offers a wide variety of choices. You can also order lunch and dinner from the menu at the hotel; prices are reasonable, and they don't overdo it with spices. The second restaurant (Indian) is completely closed. Opposite Berjaya, there's a small island where you can book a snorkeling boat trip to explore the underwater world. There weren't many live corals, but plenty of beautiful fish. However, we preferred snorkeling under the boat departure pier, where there were many schools of fish and small sharks in the shallows. Monkeys frequently visit the hotel grounds, bungalows, and beach; they are very curious but not aggressive. We also saw monitor lizards. The nature of Tioman and the gentle, secluded sea were very impressive. Sandflies were an issue; nothing we brought from home helped. We bought local spray at the hotel, which reduced the bites, but the healing process only truly began when we got home. The hotel has a gorgeous property and a large beach area. The rooms are in need of renovation; everything feels a bit tired, but functional. The staff are responsive and polite."

"The rooms are clean and relaxing, with many decorations and items made from local, handcrafted materials, which is both eco-friendly and gives the hotel its unique character. The hotel owner and staff are polite and sincere, without any noticeable commercial vibe. The natural environment is quiet and pristine, and the hotel blends seamlessly with its surroundings. Most guests here are couples enjoying their time together; we were the only ones with children during our three-day stay. We really loved this quiet, non-commercial holiday environment. January is monsoon season, so the winds and waves were strong. We tried snorkeling on two mornings, but it wasn't amazing. The ecosystem here isn't as vibrant as in Mataking, Semporna; we didn't see as many types of fish, and there were more rocks, making the snorkeling environment less friendly than Mataking. However, the hotel stay itself was truly comfortable, and we felt the energy of nature – a great opportunity to relax. The staff and owner were fantastic and even personally picked us up and dropped us off at the pier. Their service felt genuinely sincere, unlike Semporna, where there's a strong commercial atmosphere, and you don't feel the same genuine human interaction, but rather more commercialism, and the room rates are many times higher without the corresponding service quality. We love this kind of hotel vacation experience. It's filled with the scent of nature everywhere, with streams flowing through the rainforest, integrating the hotel with the sea – a resort that has both mountains and the ocean. Friendly tip: The hotel carefully prepares all three meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). The food provided is consistently delicious, and although the prices are not cheap, it's worth it."

"The beach view was pretty and the atmosphere was relaxing. The service was very good, the staff there were nice too. Just one thing that can be improved on: the environment was a bit undesirable and there were a lot of iguanas in water and in land, causing us to feel a little uncomfortable to walk out of our rooms at night. Amenities need improvement also...for example, the hair dryers weren't working well and the toilet smells bad too."

"Location : super private, very clean and very well kept. Staff service : friendly, attentive. Shout out to Rudra, Pika, Afiq, and their kitchen crew Wani. they say that the people is the heart and soul of the brand and it reflects immensely in the boathouse. Even the director of operations took his rounds to walk and chatted us up. Thank you Thevan. Room : very new and clean tho sound insulation is abit of an issue. But it’s all good. Internet : good and stable. This part of the island cuts off coverage if you have a local sim. Amenities : For now, it’s just jungle tracking with ATV or island hopping/diving. What can be improved : 1. perhaps more upbeat music at the bar area for people to let loose. 2. weekends when there are more people, a fire performance or a light show/drone or something. So that there is a slight group entertainment. 3. Pier could be abit more lighted to see the sea during the night."

"1511 Coconut Grove feels like something you read from a magazine that you never imagine getting to experience. Tioman Island is truly a magical place indeed and this resort is the most perfect location I’ve found! We will be coming back again and again. "Our stay at Tunamaya Beach & Spa Resort was one of the best experiences we have had in Malaysia. We were two families staying in two inclusive ocean-view villas, and everything exceeded our expectations. The staff were incredibly welcoming, professional, and easy to communicate with, making us feel at home from the first moment. Their kindness toward our children and family members made the experience even more special. The resort was clean, comfortable, and offered breathtaking ocean views. The food was delicious with excellent quality and variety. A special thanks to the Achary Sport staff and diving trainer for their patience, professionalism, and wonderful training. They were extremely easy to deal with, guided everyone with care, and made the activities enjoyable and comfortable for all experience levels. This was truly an unforgettable stay, and if we could, we would stay here 1,000 times again. Highly recommended for families visiting Malaysia."
