Nice place to stay. Rooms are clean and the space is quite big. It's 12 min walking far from the metro station (at least from line 2 that is the one that we used during our stay). They ”push” you a little bit to leave a review at the end. Still, the experience was nice.

The Langham's quality is consistently excellent, as always. From the moment you step in, the signature scent and the charming pink-themed amenities all reflect exceptional taste. The service is incredibly proactive and outstanding, making for an extremely comfortable stay. Sicily at the front desk was sweet and enthusiastic, helping us upgrade to a wonderful room type with excellent privacy. Located in the bustling Xintiandi, the location is incredibly convenient, yet the room itself is very quiet – a true hidden gem in the city. The bedding is comfortable, and the toiletries are Diptyque. Breakfast is fresh with new items introduced weekly. Overall, I highly recommend it; if I'm on a business trip nearby again, I'll definitely choose to stay here.

Stumbled on this place and honestly, it's a keeper. Location is unbeatable—right in the heart of the French Concession, 3 mins from South Shanxi Road subway. That line gets you everywhere, so you're connected to the whole city without paying central tourist prices. What really got me was the outdoor patio. In expensive Shanghai, that's a flex. The whole lobby and dining area feel super cozy and homey—almost like a US-style social hub. I noticed 90% of the guests were non-Chinese, so if you're looking for an easy place to chat with other travelers, this is it. Rooms are clean, efficient, and have a fun, big design that makes the space feel bigger than it is. Breakfast is included and actually good—freshly made Chinese and Western options, so you don't have to hunt for coffee and eggs in the morning. Staff are genuinely friendly. They'll give you honest food recs and even help with delivery requests if you're ordering anything. Best value I've found in this location. Already planning my next trip back. Pro tip: Grab a coffee or tea on that patio in the morning —just like you would do that in your own house. Super relaxing and great vibe. Also ask the front desk which side of the building is quieter; they'll set you up away from any street noise. u

《A Leisurely Day at Donghu: Relax, Swim, and Savor》 Donghu Hotel offers elegant twin rooms that are warm and tranquil. The wooden floors, bathed in soft light, complement the clean and refined bathroom. A day spent here feels utterly relaxed and unhurried. Breakfast is simple yet nourishing. Warm soy milk soothes the stomach, while corn, sweet potatoes, and steamed buns provide ample carbs. Stir-fried seasonal vegetables, alongside braised meats and nuts, offer a balanced and wholesome meal, preparing you for the day ahead. In the afternoon, I headed to the hotel's pool for a refreshing swim. The crystal-clear water shimmered with ripples. Underwater, the water enveloped my body, stretching my shoulders and back, relieving the fatigue from prolonged sitting. Switching to breaststroke, the kicking and pulling stretched my core and limbs, my heart and lungs rising and falling rhythmically. Sweat dissipated with the water, washing away all my accumulated weariness. After my swim, I moved to ”Xiji Gangjiu” to try some Cantonese dim sum. Each dish was a delight. Garlic oysters are nourishing and rich in protein, while spring onion chicken replenishes vital energy. Fresh shrimp and coriander dumplings are light and appetizing. Beef balls with choi sum provide excellent protein and dietary fiber, and the two-tone water chestnut cake is delightfully sweet and refreshing. The combination of seafood, poultry, vegetables, and grains was well-balanced—fresh, not greasy, and wonderfully wholesome. A dip in the 'azure waters' stretched my muscles and bones, a 'Cantonese feast' nourished my body, and the elegant room provided a sanctuary for my mind. With a perfect blend of activity and rest, and nourishing food, a day of leisure at Donghu Hotel brought a deep sense of peace, relaxation, and freedom.

Hotel near Jing'an District/West Nanjing Road,Shanghai 6.6% of visitors choose this area

I chose this established four-star hotel in Jing'an District for my business trip to Shanghai, primarily for its location. It's situated in the Caojiadu commercial area, within walking distance of Jing'an Temple and Zhongshan Park. Wanhangdu Road is right downstairs, making it convenient for dining and shopping. 🔊 **Soundproofing is a major flaw** This really needs to be complained about! I could clearly hear conversations from the next room, and at night, there was a frequent, very noticeable ”woo-loong woo-loong” noise in the room, which felt like it might be due to aging water pipes or air conditioning ducts. I'm not sure what it was, but it sounded like a tractor. If you're sensitive to noise, I recommend bringing earplugs. 🍳 **Breakfast is indeed plentiful** I have to praise the breakfast; the variety was excellent, with both Chinese and Western options. The live noodle station offered scallion oil noodles and mini wontons, which tasted great. The fruit section had red dragon fruit and wax apples, which is more generous than many hotels at a similar price point. The breakfast hours are long, which is great for late risers. 🏨 **Renovation is good, but it's clearly an older hotel** A The lobby and public areas are quite grand, and the room was spacious and bright with expansive views from the floor-to-ceiling windows. The bedding was comfortable. However, the facilities clearly show that it's an older hotel, with some equipment noticeably aged. Nevertheless, the hygiene is well-maintained. 💁 **Front desk service is excellent** The front desk staff were very enthusiastic, check-in was swift, and requests were handled promptly. **Summary:** Great location, fantastic breakfast, and attentive service, but the soundproofing and aging facilities are definite drawbacks. Whether you get a good night's sleep might really depend on luck.

Last summer, my kids kept bugging me to take them to Shanghai, but we couldn't make it work. This year, we finally managed to bring both of them. After comparing several hotels, I decisively booked this Atour Hotel near Jing'an Temple and Nanjing West Road. The hotel's location is truly unbeatable, surrounded by popular Instagrammable spots, making it super convenient for exploring with kids. I specifically booked the Little Yellow Duck-themed family room on Ctrip, which my kids absolutely adore. It was full of childlike fun, and they were incredibly happy when we checked in. The hotel facilities are perfectly suited for families traveling with children. There's a 24-hour self-service laundry room with a dryer, which was a huge lifesaver for washing the kids' clothes during our trip. Every night at 9:30 PM, they also offer complimentary warm late-night congee. After a long day of sightseeing, a bowl of that was so comforting and heartwarming, making us feel right at home. The hotel's service was thoughtful and attentive, the living environment clean and comfortable, and all the amenities were complete and well-maintained. It fully met all our family travel needs and offered fantastic value for money. This is definitely our top choice for traveling with kids!

Service: Before checking in, I read many reviews complaining about the check-in staff. I definitely experienced it myself. All the staff avoided eye contact; it was hard to find someone to help with check-in, and everyone seemed busy. There was a young man near the elevator entrance who suggested not standing there. He would just lower his head and walk away when he saw guests; I don't know what purpose it served to have someone standing there. The bellhop at the luggage storage was enthusiastic, but I suggest increasing the refrigerated storage space and training staff. They shouldn't advise guests to carry their refrigerated items with them when checking out, especially on such hot days; it's better to leave them in the air-conditioned hotel. The staff at the entrance who helped with luggage and opened car doors were polite, and their service was appreciated. Some of the hosts at the breakfast restaurant were very warm and friendly. Others were not, and some were only friendly towards Japanese guests. The chefs at the cooking stations were all excellent, and the food was delicious. Facilities: Older hotels always have shortcomings in their hardware. As soon as I exited the elevator on the guest floor, I smelled dust, and there was a musty smell in the room. The shower equipment was old and difficult to use, the washbasin was quite low, and the small magnifying mirror for makeup/removing makeup was broken; either you had to hold it up very high to see your face, or it would fall down and still not work. This can't be changed in the short term, so it needs renovation. During renovations, I suggest not installing mirrors facing the bed again. I slept very poorly at night. Cleanliness: The cleanliness was much better than I expected. There was no dust in the nooks and crannies, which was a pleasant surprise. Noise: The room was very close to the elevator, but surprisingly, there was not much noise, which was acceptable. However, there was a regular rumbling sound, which I suspect was the subway passing by; it was very noticeable. The sound disappeared after the subway stopped at night and reappeared in the morning. Overall, it was not a very pleasant experience, but I've tried it. I won't choose this hotel again.

This stay far exceeded my expectations! The hotel's location is excellent, right next to a subway station, making transportation incredibly convenient. The lobby design is very stylish, and the room was clean and tidy. The biggest surprise was the welcome snacks and a thoughtful card – so many nice touches. The front desk service deserves special praise 👍, they were very professional and enthusiastic. They even upgraded my room during check-in. It was a very satisfying stay, highly recommended!

I chose this Light Inn for my trip to Shanghai, and it was a real gem! The location is absolutely fantastic – the subway station is right downstairs, making it super convenient to get to The Bund, Yu Garden, and Nanjing Road either by walking or taking the subway. Getting around was a breeze. The hotel really impressed me with its attention to detail: the lobby has a self-service hydration station with unlimited cucumber-lemon water and grapefruit tea, which was so refreshing and photogenic. The bathroom in the room had Jo Malone toiletries, and the shower pressure was excellent, making for a really comfortable shower experience. The room itself was clean, tidy, and well-lit, with a soft bed that ensured a good night's sleep. They also provided individually packaged, high-quality bath towels, which felt great and showed a real commitment to guest comfort. 👍 The front desk service was gentle and attentive. The overall decor is minimalist and chic, with an elegant atmosphere. For a downtown hotel, the value for money is truly exceptional. I'll definitely be staying here again on my next visit to Shanghai!

My friends and I, each with our little ones, decided to travel to Shanghai. We booked this guesthouse as a last-minute alternative after cancelling our original hotel (because the beds were too small). We initially chose it simply because it was close by and we didn't want the hassle of moving again. After checking in, we discovered it truly embodied the essence of Shanghai. The house is located in a small, old-style apartment building in a lane, resembling an architectural masterpiece from the last century. Inside, the two bedrooms are spacious, there's an open kitchen, and the entire house has old wooden floors. The Ming and Qing dynasty furniture adds a touch of antique charm. It's also very convenient, with the subway station right across from the complex. Huaihai Road is just a short walk away, and there's also the architecturally distinctive Guotai Cinema – fantastic! The manager even extended our check-out time by two hours, and her prompt and thoughtful response was very considerate. A truly hidden gem of a guesthouse! [Thumbs up]

I booked this hotel for my foreign friend. I looked at a lot of places, and ultimately a guesthouse seemed to be the best value. It had bunk beds, which is a style my foreign friends usually like. The host was also very welcoming and even let us switch to a room where we could stay together for two nights. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes guesthouses and wants to be close to the subway.

The room has been newly renovated and, while not huge, it's still quite comfortable. The front desk service was excellent; a gentleman even helped me with my luggage when I first arrived. The hotel's location is fantastic, very close to the 'Jufuchang' area, which is perfect for a city walk and experiencing old Shanghai charm.

This time, I was traveling with my family and young child. I was looking for a hotel, but the beds were all 1.2 or 1.1 meters wide, which wasn't spacious enough. So, I chose this guesthouse with twin beds, one 1.6 meters and the other 1.8 meters, so we could sleep more comfortably after a long day of walking! Haha, the room looks exactly like the pictures, and the cleanliness is also good. A very thoughtful touch was that they had the air conditioning turned on for us when we arrived at 3 PM! It felt like stepping into a refrigerator at that moment, so comfortable. The places we visited weren't far away, and taxi rides were all within the starting fare. The surrounding alleyways have a nice atmosphere. Overall, it's great, and both the value for money and the service attitude are spot on! I'll choose this place again next time I'm in Shanghai!

Nice place to stay but there are a few things to be aware of. Like all places in China there is a registration system. We sent our passports to Andy who was able to do it for us. The neighbourhood feels very safe and has security at the front. All former mansions are subdivided into rooms which are then occupied by many people. As a result, you will share a front door and some of the corridor. Because of this, the rooms are rather close together which meant in the morning you would often hear people cooking, talking etc. and in evening you might hear a bit of snoring. All together it wasn’t bad and it felt more local. The room itself was pretty well equipped and had two large areas for the upstairs and downstairs. We enjoyed the projector and kitchen. The bathroom’s water pressure/shower head was a little weak and often got a little flooded as we were given disposable linen. The disposable bedsheets were fine but the towels were not really absorbent. The location was probably the nicest aspect. It was nice and uniquely shanghai unlike staying in the newer parts of town.
