"Environment: The hotel environment is excellent, the rooms are spacious, and the public areas are clean. There are many elevators, so you don't have to wait long. Service: I have to give a super good review to the hotel staff. They helped with our luggage, and the front desk staff were patient and gentle. Simply fantastic!! Facilities: The hotel houses Fenglin Pavilion restaurant, so you can enjoy Shanxi specialty dishes right on site, which is very convenient! The swimming pool water is also very clean! If I ever get to visit Datong again, I'll definitely choose this hotel!"

"Every time I visit Datong, I choose to stay here. I mean, if it's good enough for central government leaders visiting Datong, how bad could it be? The rooms at Datong Hotel aren't huge and the facilities are a bit old, but staying here feels open and comfortable. This might be due to the thick walls and simple design of the older building, which means less mutual interference and a very quiet night's sleep. Just a couple of suggestions: could the fountain in the courtyard be turned off earlier in the evening, and could the music from the speakers in the courtyard be a bit softer? I chose this hotel for its peace and quiet, so it feels unnecessary and counterproductive for the hotel to create noise."

"My biggest surprise on this trip to Datong was definitely this hotel. As a hotel enthusiast, I really couldn't find much to fault (though the pool water wasn't quite warm enough – a minor imperfection, I suppose). First off, the location is superb, right by the ancient city wall. You step out and the city wall is right across the street, and Southeast Yip is just next door. Taking a stroll in the evening couldn't be more convenient! Everything is close by, and getting a taxi is easy. Secondly, the hotel itself is stunning and impeccably clean, perfect for photos. The hotel feels like a work of art, beautifully designed, blending classical aesthetics with modern design. It also does an excellent job of protecting guest privacy; outside photographers can't just wander in. It's incredibly tranquil; even though it's fully booked every day, you rarely run into other guests, offering great privacy. I slept wonderfully. Then there are the top-tier amenities. All the luxuries you'd expect from a high-end hotel are here. Everything in the minibar, except for the red wine, is complimentary – there's so much you can't possibly drink it all. Every day, they offer different fresh fruits, nuts, and a goodnight dessert, plus complimentary coffee. The complimentary afternoon tea is very generous and aesthetically pleasing. The breakfast selection is extensive and delicious! And the service, it's simply outstanding, scoring almost full marks for attention to detail. There are plenty of staff members, and they respond incredibly quickly. They even deliver takeout to your room. If I had to pick a flaw, it's that it's quite expensive. But overall, it was definitely worth it. If I come to Datong again, I'd choose this hotel without hesitation."

"You truly appreciate the difference when you have something to compare it to. I first stayed at Datong Hotel thirty years ago, so naturally, it was my top choice for this visit to Datong. Let's start with the 'positives'. For my first night, I chose the VIP building, thinking that with the country's rapid development, hotel accommodations must have advanced significantly. The promotional materials also touted its spacious and new rooms. However, upon checking in, I felt it wasn't worth the price. The front desk clearly had better rooms available but was unwilling to offer them without an additional charge for these 'so-called' superior rooms. It makes me wonder if the front desk staff has ever stayed in a four-star hotel or above. The VIP building's only real 'plus' was its larger space; otherwise, nothing felt particularly impressive. In the VIP building, the bathroom fixtures were broken, the walls didn't appear thoroughly scrubbed, and the carpet was dirty. This judgment was drawn from a direct comparison. Dissatisfied with the VIP building, I decisively checked out and opted for the old building, where I had stayed three decades ago. I was touched by the elderly gentleman at the front desk even before seeing the room. Upon checking in, I discovered that apart from the room size being smaller than in the VIP building, everything else was equally good, if not better. The elderly gentleman at check-in introduced the amenities along the way – his service was truly commendable, and I plan to get his name for a special mention in a future review. The old building's walls were freshly painted, and the carpet was notably cleaner than in the VIP building. The toiletries also felt superior to those in the VIP building. The headboard cushions were clean and tidy, and the curtains were elegantly neat and clean. Suggestions for the old building: The TV is quite old; replacing it shouldn't be too expensive. Attention to detail is crucial: the faucet handles, though old, have a noble appearance. The only imperfection is the missing small cap on the handle – a small blemish on an otherwise noble piece. The bathtub drain was malfunctioning. The shower curtain could be raised slightly higher. Since there are paintings, their frames should be clean and clear. The small cap on the toilet seat was also missing. Most importantly, the bathroom floor was quite slippery; measures should be taken to prevent guests from falling. Additionally, the old building's self-promotion is lacking. Enlarged photos of renowned figures who once stayed here should be displayed prominently. No other hotel in Datong boasts such an honor, and that's precisely your unique selling point."

A tranquil oasis amidst the hustle and bustle, the elegant Jin-style courtyard provides a truly immersive and comfortable stay! 2. Comfortable Bedding: The bed was neatly made and clean. The mattress was perfectly firm, and the blankets were soft and gentle on the skin. I could relax and sleep soundly until morning. 3. Hygiene: The entire room was meticulously cleaned. There was no dust in the corners or on the surfaces. The washroom area and floors were dry and odorless. The cleanliness was impeccable, giving me peace of mind. 4. Buffet Breakfast: The breakfast selection was surprisingly abundant! The restaurant boasts a wide variety of fresh fruits, and its exquisitely presented pastries and dishes are clean and beautiful. The ingredients are fresh and the taste is excellent. A hearty breakfast in the morning sets the tone for a great day. Overall, the service and facilities are top-notch, offering great value for money. I'll definitely choose this restaurant again next time I travel!"

"The room felt absolutely fantastic! We booked a family suite, and it was incredibly spacious. Besides the usual lotion, shampoo, shower gel, and conditioner, they also provided kids' slippers, and separate dry and wet slippers. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was quiet. Breakfast was good too, and we even got to try the local noodles. Although the outdoor hot spring only had two small pools, it still created a great resort atmosphere, especially with the kids running around. When we checked out, the staff even gave us a thoughtful parting gift. It was a delightful day."
