It doesn't rush to display a panoramic view; instead, it draws your eye to the layered rooftops, resembling distant mountains. And at this moment, through the window, the fire's reflection dances on the tea ceremony table. Ji Xia Shan doesn't create scenery. It simply filters out the noise for you, leaving behind the ancient city's true essence – and your true self. Checking in here is truly arriving."

"I was extremely satisfied with my stay at Yungang Hotel. First off, the price was very reasonable, even during peak season, and they didn't arbitrarily inflate prices! Secondly, the check-in experience was fantastic. As soon as you enter, you're greeted by marble carvings everywhere, giving it a very upscale and luxurious feel. The hotel also has Fenglin Pavilion on the first floor, which serves amazing food, and there's no need to wait in line! The breakfast spread at the aquatic restaurant on the lower ground floor was incredibly varied. The room itself was large and new, with a high level of smart technology. The air conditioning was powerful, and the staff provided excellent service!"

"The hotel looks very luxurious, and the breakfast restaurant is beautiful with a fountain. However, for such great facilities, I didn't expect the floors to be so thin. I could hear people walking upstairs all night – it was so noisy! The service was also really subpar, especially in the breakfast restaurant. I'm not sure if the staff are shared with Yungang. Anyway, the staff at the noodle and egg station, particularly the one furthest from the entrance to the restaurant, were awful. They were off-duty during breakfast, with only one person frying eggs while the noodle chef was nowhere to be found. They eventually showed up much later. With so many guests, their movements were incredibly slow. Even the staff clearing tables were much quicker than them. Honestly, it was off-putting and made me lose my appetite. The breakfast food was also terrible and completely didn't match the hotel's supposed luxury. Having traveled extensively, I usually find that upscale hotels offer better food than average ones, but Wyndham really reset my expectations. I felt like I was eating pig feed. You don't even need me to tell you; just look at how much food guests left on their tables, uneaten. That alone tells you how bad it was – good food wouldn't be left untouched. I even saw a whole bowl of noodles left on a table after guests had left. We genuinely didn't want to waste food; it was just genuinely awful. I truly felt like I was eating pig feed. They didn't treat us like people, showed no respect for us, and seemed to think anything edible was fine, never considering the taste."

"You truly appreciate the difference when you have something to compare it to. I first stayed at Datong Hotel thirty years ago, so naturally, it was my top choice for this visit to Datong. Let's start with the 'positives'. For my first night, I chose the VIP building, thinking that with the country's rapid development, hotel accommodations must have advanced significantly. The promotional materials also touted its spacious and new rooms. However, upon checking in, I felt it wasn't worth the price. The front desk clearly had better rooms available but was unwilling to offer them without an additional charge for these 'so-called' superior rooms. It makes me wonder if the front desk staff has ever stayed in a four-star hotel or above. The VIP building's only real 'plus' was its larger space; otherwise, nothing felt particularly impressive. In the VIP building, the bathroom fixtures were broken, the walls didn't appear thoroughly scrubbed, and the carpet was dirty. This judgment was drawn from a direct comparison. Dissatisfied with the VIP building, I decisively checked out and opted for the old building, where I had stayed three decades ago. I was touched by the elderly gentleman at the front desk even before seeing the room. Upon checking in, I discovered that apart from the room size being smaller than in the VIP building, everything else was equally good, if not better. The elderly gentleman at check-in introduced the amenities along the way – his service was truly commendable, and I plan to get his name for a special mention in a future review. The old building's walls were freshly painted, and the carpet was notably cleaner than in the VIP building. The toiletries also felt superior to those in the VIP building. The headboard cushions were clean and tidy, and the curtains were elegantly neat and clean. Suggestions for the old building: The TV is quite old; replacing it shouldn't be too expensive. Attention to detail is crucial: the faucet handles, though old, have a noble appearance. The only imperfection is the missing small cap on the handle – a small blemish on an otherwise noble piece. The bathtub drain was malfunctioning. The shower curtain could be raised slightly higher. Since there are paintings, their frames should be clean and clear. The small cap on the toilet seat was also missing. Most importantly, the bathroom floor was quite slippery; measures should be taken to prevent guests from falling. Additionally, the old building's self-promotion is lacking. Enlarged photos of renowned figures who once stayed here should be displayed prominently. No other hotel in Datong boasts such an honor, and that's precisely your unique selling point."

Sharing a lobby with the hot spring, it is very convenient to go to the hot spring hotel. Next to the Cailiangshan Scenic Area, hotel guests go to the scenic area for free!"

"The room was clean and tidy. The front desk upgraded the smart language control room for free. I saw that we were a group of three people. I sent an extra morning and evening meal roll for free. I liked it. However, the next day's breakfast, the hotel breakfast time, the breakfast person in charge said that the front desk girl was just here, did not understand the rules, gave us an extra breakfast roll, and saw the person in charge directly to the front desk, it is estimated that the front desk girl is blamed. Although it did not affect our meal, breakfast is indeed not too good, just fill the stomach. However, relative to the price, it is already very cost-effective. During the period, it is very good for a family of three to eat for three people. According to the hotel regulations, the front desk is indeed illegal, but the whole outsider's perception of the hotel and even Datong, the little girl is right. I feel that the little girl at the front desk is wronged."

"The hot spring hotel has been awesome. The room is very big, super clean and bright enough in areas like the bathroom. It is warm enough even in winter due to the underfloor heating,, so I have to turn off the room air con heating. The hotel front desk team is even more awesome. They are always ready to help with all kinds of queries and needs. When we were leaving, they even gave us a bottle of local vinegar as a gift. The hot spring is not located inside the hotel like the Japanese onsen. It is a couple of hundred meters away, but the hotel provided an electric buggy to ferry you to and fro. The hot spring area itself has a changing room, where you can out on the bathrobe before you step out in the open and into the hot spring. So even in winter, it is still manageable and you should not catch a cold. Some regular hot spring users even put on their down feather jacket over the bathrobe, and that surely is more effective. There are even security personnel at the hot spring to make sure there is help if you get into difficulties. Breakfast is also good. The hotel also uses the buggy to fetch you to a posh looking restaurant in the hotel vicinity. Food is good, and not too expensive. There is also a small retail outlet next to the restaurant. The prices there are very reasonable."
