Hotels in Taihu Yuantouzhu/Liyuan Scenic Area, Wuxi

This was my fourth stay, and this time I booked a deluxe lake view twin room on the 15th floor. It was pricey, but definitely worth it. The view outside the window was stunning, and having the desk face it made for a very pleasant experience while sipping tea. The automatic sensor Toto toilet was also quite convenient. I had two unexpected bonuses this time: first, the hotel provided complimentary tickets to Liyuan Garden, including a boat ride. The garden's side entrance was conveniently located near the hotel. Liyuan was small but exquisite, not crowded at all. Walking through the garden with a gentle breeze created a very peaceful atmosphere. Second, I discovered the hotel's buckwheat pillows. They were surprisingly firm and heavy, unlike typical soft pillows. I asked at the front desk and bought one for 98 yuan – excellent value for money.

I stayed here once in 2023, and didn't have many strong impressions back then. Before this trip, I read some reviews, and some mentioned average service, while others said the food was just okay. But! This stay, my impression of the service has really improved a lot!!!! For example, because we asked for an extra blanket, they remembered to provide towels and bath towels for four people the next day. After asking for bottled water once, they automatically stocked a very, very, very generous amount of water the next day, anticipating our needs. When the kids splashed water everywhere and we called housekeeping to clean, they were very cooperative, responsive, and had a great attitude. The executive lounge even remembered which room each table was from, and when my child forgot a toy, they proactively called us to let us know. The next day, they still remembered to give it back to us; it wasn't a 'one-day' memory. If I had to say anything that could be improved, it would be the breakfast. The taste was indeed a bit ordinary, haha, but all the essential categories were there, so getting full wasn't an issue.

I was very satisfied with my stay. The room was incredibly spacious, and the bedding was clean, hygienic, and comfortable. The hotel breakfast was also very good, and the room was spotless. It was also very convenient for getting to tourist attractions. Overall, a great stay. I would definitely stay here again next time.

I particularly loved the bathroom; bathing and showering were incredibly comfortable. The fatigue of travel slowly dissipated in the warm steam, and looking out at the trees and mountains, I suddenly felt that this is what a true vacation means: letting time slow down. The hotel's greenery coverage is reportedly 70%, and we even took a 10-minute sightseeing tour around the property. Along the way, lush trees, lakes, and buildings were intertwined. The wind gently brushed through the car window, creating a picturesque 'courtyard within courtyards' ambiance. Some reviews say Taihu Hotel is like a maze, but I found it to be a rather interesting experience. From the moment we stepped out of the car, a bellhop proactively helped us with our luggage and warmly guided us to the lobby. The entire process was natural and thoughtful. A good hotel, perhaps, isn't just about staying in a beautiful building, but about having someone take care of the trivialities of your journey from the moment you step through the door. There's one more thing I must praise separately – the Taihu Hotel's xiaolongbao (soup dumplings). These were the best xiaolongbao I've ever had in Wuxi. The skin was so thin it felt like it would break, each one as delicate as a work of art. When gently picked up, it felt as if one wrong move would disturb the abundant soup inside. The taste was fresh, fragrant, and tender, unfolding in layers – truly a delightful surprise. Breakfast was also delicious, especially the douhua (tofu pudding), so silken smooth with not a hint of roughness. Sitting there in the morning, slowly savoring a warm bowl of douhua, gazing at the tree shadows outside, felt incredibly pleasant. As the saying goes, 'The shimmering light on the water is beautiful on a clear day, and the misty mountain view is extraordinary in the rain.' The morning light by Taihu Lake must be just as gentle. Another point: if you're coming specifically for the fireworks show, staying at Taihu Hotel is really perfect. There's no need to rush for transportation after the show, nor to quickly leave amidst the crowds. The fireworks, the lake, the night, and this historic hotel intertwine, becoming an integral part of the journey. My only regret is that we booked too late. We originally wanted to stay at Taihu Hotel for the entire three-day Mid-Autumn Festival, but the rooms were already fully booked, so we could only stay for one night, which left us wanting more. I've stayed in many five-star hotels. Some make you feel luxurious, some convenient, some offer excellent service, but Taihu Hotel gave me a different feeling – it has its own character. It has the lake, the trees, the history, the vibrant life, and an unhurried tranquility. As I left, I was already thinking about when I could return next. Perhaps truly unforgettable hotels are like this: you arrive as a guest, but leave with a landscape etched in your heart. Highly recommended.

I read a lot of reviews before booking, so my expectations were quite low. But I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived! The hotel is a bit old, that's a fact, but thankfully, it was very clean. The location is absolutely amazing, right next to Cherry Blossom Valley. During cherry blossom season, having a shuttle to get into the park was a huge advantage compared to regular tourists who have to buy tickets and wait in line. The hotel service was excellent. They upgraded us to a room with a courtyard. The staff were all very helpful and tried their best to assist with any questions we had. Since we were traveling with a child, they provided extra blankets and disposable bathtub liners. The breakfast on the second day was also very good – the cherry blossom xiaolongbao were delicious, and the Suzhou noodles were great too. We could enjoy views of Cherry Blossom Valley while dining, and the 'King Cherry Tree' was right in our courtyard. The hotel lobby had complimentary tea and a coffee machine, which was a huge plus for coffee lovers. They even gave us some creative cultural ice cream, which made my child super happy!

The room was spacious and comfortable. A big thanks to the front desk lady who went above and beyond to find me a lake-view room of the same price, but with the widest view possible. Breakfast was good, and all the services were excellent. They even offered a free hour of KTV, and the laundry room was very convenient. The only downside is that the hotel is quite large, and when there aren't many people around, some areas are dimly lit, making them a bit spooky.

The hotel is close to scenic spots, a 10-minute taxi ride to MixC, and also very near Lake Li. It's very convenient for getting around and shopping. The bedding is just right, not too soft or too hard, and the facilities have a simple style. The air is fresh with no odors. They even turn on the air conditioning in advance, so I slept very comfortably.
