Explore the sound-imagery through art with the exhibition “Resonant Abstractions” by Deejai Kosiyapong and curated by Miranda K. Metcalf. Resonant Abstractions presents the idea that “communication” is not just about using language, but about perceiving and transmitting feelings across the senses. This series of works is inspired by the nature of language, memory, and sound. The artist questions the way humans perceive and convey emotions, and attempts to create a new language through the fusion of images and sounds that frees us from the confines of words and grammar. The artist explores the relationship between images, sounds, and language as structures that are fluid, changing, and embedded in culture and memory. Through abstract paintings that transform visual elements into sounds, the artist interprets shape, color, and arrangement into a sound system that has a structure similar to language, demonstrating that language can become art, and art can also become language. In this exhibition, we will see paintings that have sound, and hear sounds that have a structure like conversations. This exhibition invites us to question communication, meaning, and perception in everyday life through an artistic language that does not require translation. Meaning does not lie in words.
