"I stayed in nine hotels on this trip to Italy, and this one was the most ”uncomfortable.” [Key Tips to Avoid Pitfalls] Be very careful with this [Superior Sea View Room]. It's anything but ”superior”—it's the cheapest room in the hotel (within the ocean view), the lowest-end of the ocean view rooms (there are no standard sea view rooms). It's the farthest from the sea, which is a minor issue. The key issue is that there are two vertical elevators next door, ”dimpled” from the room (essentially, two elevators directly at the head of the bed). Result A: The room is incredibly small and oddly shaped. Result B: The elevators are noisy. Don't expect to be able to change rooms. This is a terrible room type, with only one per floor. It's the same no matter which room you move to. Don't count on the hotel offering an upgrade out of kindness. I contacted the hotel using Ctrip's Black Diamond channel before check-in and was told the elevator was right next door, with no other rooms available (though there were other rooms available when I checked in). About the hotel as a whole: Pros: It's newly renovated, making it one of the more pleasant-looking older hotels. The downside is the strong odor, which is most noticeable on the highest floors (September 2026). Walking around the two lower floors, the odor seems less noticeable. The room types are generally acceptable (excluding the superior sea view rooms, a warning). The view is also okay. Cons: 1. The front desk staff's attitude towards Asian customers is average; not indifferent, but not exactly welcoming either. 2. Regarding the air conditioning: During check-in, the front desk staff gave a lot of rambling instructions, essentially saying that it only works if the balcony door is closed and locked. However, no matter how I tried to close or lock the balcony door, the air conditioning kept displaying ”LOC.” Since the weather wasn't too hot, I slept with the balcony door open for the entire night and didn't have the energy to argue with the unhelpful front desk staff. 3. This awful [Superior Sea View Room] is absolutely disgusting. 4. The room key is just a key with a heavy, old sign. 5. In the wilderness, late at night, early in the morning, with dogs barking in the distance for an hour, pure rural charm. Let's talk about the hotel restaurant. 1. Since it's not in the downtown area, if you don't have a car, you'll most likely have to eat dinner in the hotel's only restaurant. 2. Restaurant costs are pretty much the same for four-star hotels in Italy. 80 euros for two people roughly corresponds to three main courses, one dessert, and a bottle of water. This hotel restaurant falls within this price range. 3. The biggest [feature] is the portion size; it's incredibly [exquisite]. 4. For example, the shrimp main course for 28 euros (approximately) is just three shrimp slices with a little mashed potatoes; that's the ”main course” (see picture). 5. For two people with small appetites, 80 euros is enough. For larger appetites, it'll start at at least 100 euros, not counting drinks. 6. The meals are expensive, and the main courses are small. Another reason is that in Italy, main courses are divided into first and second entrees, making it difficult to get a full meal from one entree like in the US. If one person orders both entrees, the starting price is 35-45 euros. 7. The restaurant has a head waiter who looks like a gentleman waiter straight out of a TV or movie. His facial expressions, language, and body language are all very performative and ritualistic (like a magician on stage). He is very dedicated and has a strong presence, which is probably a ”super deal” for a restaurant of this price (someone mentioned him on Dianping). He is the only one in the restaurant with the authority to show customers to their seats, communicate, and take orders (this is the case in most restaurants), while everyone else focuses on basic service. Because of his professionalism and performative nature, he seems more welcoming and polite to Asians than in other restaurants, and he seems to treat everyone equally (on the surface, but only on the surface). (Of course, the other waiters are much more indifferent)."

"Over all experience ! 8/10! Location 10-15 to Sorrento town centre by bus ! Which is right outside. So don’t bother for taxi , or paid car parking ! Sea view hotel. 3 star but with lovely pool , sea view sitting area to relax for guests. Hand wash , hair dryer , small bathroom. Shower area very tight but manageable. Locker. Air con. Room size ( booked Standered) ok. 15M ! Manageable Room cleanliness good . Bed comfortable ! Cupboard. All this in 3 star is mind boggling ! Now Negative points . U can’t sleep for long. Max 8-9am. As check out is 10.30am max. BF 7/10. As other guest start closing doors going for BF so u hear them. It’s a two story hotel with stairs. No elevator. But has help to take your luggage to rooms. Try to take rooms on 1st floor. If u r over 55 plus. But keep in mind. It’s 3 star. With sea view and pool. Last suggestion. Don’t other taking rent a car. Take ferries. Driving on some road here is not very safe with Italian drivers. Plus traffic."

"The front desk of the hotel was very friendly and called a car for us when we checked out. Although it was really expensive, it really could only be so due to the location. The interior of the hotel room is clean and tidy, and the price is super high I really like the hotel's swimming pool. The whole feeling of being surrounded by mountains and rivers is very beautiful! There was a problem with the hair dryer in the room at the beginning, and finally adjusted the room for us. The service attitude is very friendly!"

"I had such a wonderful stay at the Grand Hotel Aminta. The service was excellent from start to finish – the staff were always attentive and reliable. The shuttle service in particular stood out: it ran at different hours, always on time without a single delay, and was spotless every ride. Breakfast was a highlight for me – the cappuccino and coffee were especially good, easily some of the best I’ve had on a trip. I also planned a small birthday surprise for my partner, and the hotel staff carried it out beautifully and very discreetly, which made it extra special. The location is great, the pool area is lovely with amazing views, and everything was kept very clean throughout our stay. Overall, it felt like real value for money – a mix of comfort, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. I’d definitely recommend it and would happily return."

"Amenities were great and staff was super helpful. They had a shuttle to city centre which took 1.5 euros each way which was good, as the location was 15 min drive. Only downside for us was it was difficult to reach here from Port or from Train station. It took almost 50 min to reach here as buses are not frequent. Finding the right bus was a hassle as google maps bus number and actual was way different. You have to check with drivers to know. The team here were having all the bus n train tickets so we dont have to get in line for tickets this was a plus."

"First of all, the breakfast was really good, and it was really convenient to go from the hotel to the port by elevator. The staff were so nice and kind. I really like it!!!!! The room is a little small, but that's a pity, and it's not a problem at all when choosing! Please note that the hotel pool and breakfast area do not have an ocean view. It's a really nice place!"

"I booked a deluxe sea view room with a large balcony. The room was very large, with a large bed and a small bed. The decoration colors of the hotel are very distinctive, with mosaic patterns. I made a mistake at first. The two hotels are very close to each other, so don’t make a mistake. We just ran to the hotel inside, and the front desk was very nice and showed us the way to the hotel. The dinner was pretty good, almost the same as in Europe. The view was great and it was right on the seaside. The hotel also had its own restaurant, which was right on the seaside. It was very comfortable."

"Excellent location which isn’t the center of town with lots of restaurants and shops around. Few minutes walk to train station and ferry pier. Room is clean and spacious. Breakfast place is nice and food are amazing. Lack of dental set, slippers, coffee, boiler and free bottles of water. Also hand shower water pressure is too weak."

"It wasn’t terrible but I definitely wouldn’t book again. Location wise - it is on the port so good to access the beach and ferry, however, you have to walk up ++stairs to get to the main town where restaurants and shops are. I do not believe that the room itself was worth the amount we paid. This was one of the most nicest/expensive accomodations of our trip and we were so excited for our stay here. Our room had mould in the shower, the shower door did not close properly and the bed was hard it felt like a plinth. I attempted to discuss this further with the staff regarding a change of room with no success or alternative solution to my concerns. Other than that, having breakfast included was good and most of the other staff we interacted with were really friendly and helpful. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend Hotel Il Faro to any of my family or friends visiting Sorrento."

Our stay at La Minervetta Hotel exceeded our expectations. From the moment we stepped foot inside the hotel, we were instantly captivated by the thoughtfully curated hotel decor which was very design forward and aesthetically pleasing. We booked the corner room and I cannot recommend it enough as it featured panoramic views of the Gulf of Naples. Throughout our stay, we also chatted with other guests as there were only 12 rooms in the hotel and we got to know our neighbours and the staff very well. Breakfast was delicious especiakly the omelettes and the fresh juices. we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it was truly the highlight of our trip!

We had a beautiful stay at Villa Oriana Relais. The hotel exceeded our expectations in all aspects. Staff were so warm and friendly and very accommodating, such a hidden gem. We took the train from Naples to St Angello station (one stop from sorrento) which is the closest station, then a 15 euro taxi to the hotel. We walked into sorrento every day which took around 20 minutes but we enjoyed the walk and its nicer have the hotel located in a peaceful area and away from the busy town. Breakfast each morning was wonderful with home made cakes and quiche from fresh local ingredients like lemons from the hotel orchard. We would definitely recommend this place and stay again.

My family and I had a precious and memorable experience at Casa Astarita guesthouse in October. Although we walked for a while from the bus station to the house, we soon realized that we were already passing through the most central and lively area of Sorrento. Everything we wanted—restaurants, gift shops, gelato and drink bars, supermarkets, and more—was just a few steps from the guesthouse. The reception and hospitality at Casa Astarita were even more surprising and heartwarming, making us feel truly at home. We were deeply touched and grateful to be guests here. We especially enjoyed the morning breakfast time with other guests in the common dining area. The maids were kind and thoughtful, customizing our meals to our preferences. The room was spacious, and the furniture solid and traditionally functional—not designed for those expecting luxury decor, but perfectly comfortable. The balcony overlooked the main street below, where we could hear buskers and Italian music playing from the nearby restaurants, giving us an immersive sense of the city. On our checkout day, as we wanted to stay in the city until late, we were gladly offered luggage storage without hesitation. We sincerely thank the host for their considerate and customer-oriented service.

Superb traditional Italian hotel, located in the centre of Sorrento, less than one minute walk from Piazza Tasso. The hotel was very comfortable and rooms were spacious and nicely furnished. There is an outside swimming pool and bar, with always plenty of sunbeds available, so no need to be up at 6.30am to reserve your place. The inclusive buffet breakfast was particularly good. There was an extensive choice of scrambled egg, pancakes, cereals, smoked salmon, yoghurts etc, as well as a delicious selection of home made cakes and pastries. For me, the stand out point was definitely how friendly all the staff at the hotel were. Nothing was too much trouble and they genuinely wanted to please.

Location is great, right next to piazza tasso, and there’s taxi stop in the front. The room is equipped with modern design, keeping classic furniture which is very cute and authentic. Breakfast is great with freshly made coffee and the variety is very good for european standard. The terrace is the absolute highlight! The view from the position is Wow! The staff are all very friendly and really take the time to give advice to those who are new to Sorrento, they have us really heartfelt and clear advice as in sightseeing tips or restaurant recommendations. They also organise excursions which is so convenient, the day tour to Amalfi coast by car is just awesome!!! Last but not least, there is a lift inside!

The hotel is situated on top of a hill with very good vires of the Sorrento coast. The amenities provided very good and room was decent too. Staff was helpful. We need just cold medicines Panadol but were unavailable at the hotel. The hotel provides for shuttle bus service at specific times which is good as the place is about 25-30 mins away from the centre. We missed it by around 30-45 mins so had to take the coach buses to the hotel which is also quite reasonable. The hotel was proactive and arranged the Amalfi Positano trip by ferry, with pickup and drop at hotel, which was superb. Overall, we loved our-stay at Prestige.

The hotel is located on a hillside not far from Sorrento. The staff are warm and attentive. The breakfast is plentiful, and the restaurant boasts a beautiful sea view. There is free parking in front of the hotel, but spaces are limited. In addition, there is a paid parking lot within the hotel and valet parking available from hotel staff. The rooms are spacious and clean; the only drawback is poor soundproofing, which may be a minor issue for those who enjoy sleeping.

the hotel is close to the train station and bus terminal (also flix bus), but it would take 15-20 minutes to walk to the ferry to Capri. our bus ran late and it was so good that the staff was waiting for us at the door. she explained to us all about the hotel, showed us the room, and then a bit about Sorrento, where to eat, what to see, where is the best spot to see the sunset, how to get to the ferry, and etc. very friendly and helpful. breakfast is great. oh, the drinks from the front desk are cheaper than those you get from the supermarkets and shops!
