Mauritius Beach Hotels

"I recently stayed at the Solana Beach Resort during my trip to Mauritius and wanted to share a balanced look at the highlights and a couple of unexpected drawbacks of my stay. The Highlights: Comfort & Tranquility The Room: We stayed in the Junior Suite Sea View, and it did not disappoint. The room was incredibly spacious, clean, and came equipped with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. Wake up to the sea view was a major plus. Location: Situated near Belle Mare on the eastern coast of Mauritius, the resort is in a very calm, quiet, and peaceful area. If you are looking to disconnect and relax, this location is ideal. Activities & Amenities: The resort has its own spa and offers fantastic sea excursions right from the property. We thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary water activities, including the glass-bottom boat, snorkeling, and paddle boating. The Food & Restaurants: The dining options were a definite highlight of our stay. The main restaurant, Cinnamon, serves an overall good buffet for both breakfast and dinner, featuring a great variety of multiple cuisines including Mauritian, Indian, and Western dishes. Additionally, the resort features another on-property restaurant focused on fine dining that serves excellent Italian cuisine. The Drawbacks: Isolation & Nickle-and-Diming Quiet Nights: Because the resort is far from the main city centers, there is absolutely no local market or nightlife/entertainment nearby. Once the sun goes down, the property becomes very silent. This is perfect for couples or relaxation, but worth noting if you prefer a bit of evening energy. The Water Policy (A Major Disappointment): This was the biggest letdown of our stay. The resort provides 2 complimentary bottles of water daily, but charges for any extra bottles you need in the room. Worse yet, water is chargeable during dinner. Having traveled to almost 40+ countries, this is the very first time I have ever encountered a resort charging for standard table water during a dinner service. For a resort of this caliber, charging for basic drinking water feels incredibly cheap and dampens the overall guest experience."

"The hotel has its own beach, which is great. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but the check-in wait was too long, even though there weren't many guests checking in at the time. The restaurant was very crowded, but the food selection was limited and the taste was average; you could just fill your stomach. The streetlights inside the hotel were insufficient at night, making it quite dark."

"I would recommend this hotel. The staff are incredibly attentive, which is really pleasant. I spent a week in a room with a private pool, and it was absolutely fantastic. The hotel restaurant is very good, and the breakfast is super comprehensive with plenty of choices. The spa is also very good. It's a shame the gym isn't more visible, though."

"A good hotel with a beautiful and well-designed area. A spacious beach where turtles swim. Breakfast is quite uniform, but there is everything.  Convenient entrance to water, beach clean. You can take a cayak for rent free. Defects: lunch and dinner are expensive if not all on. The hotel is quite old.  In general, we liked: A picturesque beach, a benign staff, lucky to see turtles in the ocean."

"The front desk lady is very good! Super enthusiastic! English communication is smooth! The whole small hotel sparrow is small and complete. There is even a microwave in the room. Breakfast is inevitable outside, there are small flying insects flying next to it. There is no problem with bathing, but some of the bathroom is wooden floor, which feels a bit strange. At night, there are a lot of geckos on the outdoor walls hahahaha ～ The best thing about this small hotel is the location! A few steps behind the hotel is Blue Bay! And you can also go back to the hotel to take a shower after checking out, very intimate! Of course, come back early at night, if you come back from the road, it is quite scary to have no lights in the dark."

"The Oberoi Mauritius has been by far the best hotel that we have stayed, this comment is made based on traveling across the world and not limited to travels in Mauritius. The staff paid careful attention to satisfying our every need and personal food requests that were happily accommodated by the hotel’s chef. Having fallen ill while traveling, the hotel doctor was readily available for a consult and prescribed medication within a timely manner. The visit to the spa was relaxing and all rooms were well-maintained. The therapist was able to provide treatments on our individual needs. The room was beautifully decorated with a private pool and garden, this meant that we were lucky enough to have our breakfast with a magnificent sea view🌊. Overall a true five star ⭐️ hotel that delivers an exceptional experience to its guests. Well done Oberoi Team⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"

"The hotel is in the north, and the airport is in the south (a bit dizzy), 50 minutes drive from the airport. There are hotels on the beach. This French hotel is 3 stars locally. The hotel is not big but still beautiful. If you have time, you can spend a day in the hotel. The hotel is very private. There is a supermarket on the left and restaurants and some shops on the right. The clothes sold are at tourist prices. Go out on the right, near the sea, and there is a police station. Around 15 from Port Louis The service staff are good, the breakfast is full but there are really few things... Speaking French has an advantage over English. There is a 20% discount for spa reservations 48 hours in advance, and helicopters can also be booked. The hotel does not provide slippers and toothbrushes, please bring your own, as well as adapters. When checking out on the 7th, the front desk will charge 160 and say that the two bottles of water in the room are chargeable. Damn, the little brother who checked in clearly said that it is free. There are tea bags and coffee bags next to it. What do you label? No, the small bottle of water sells for 10 rupees and you charge 80? ? ? I was anxious to wait for my friend to take me to the airport without going to talk. In short, friends who go to Maoqiu pay special attention to the tips. People in restaurants and supermarkets should pay attention to it. There are more Chinese people. Tips are 1-2 US dollars per day. If you encounter a service staff who does not say hello to deduct the tip in advance, you will become a habit that Chinese people are stupid."

"The room facilities are relatively old, the Chopsticks restaurant is absolutely terrible, the service is satisfactory, the swimming pool is not bad, especially the adult swimming pool is very beautiful, the hotel is a good place to watch the sunrise!"

"An amazing hotel right on the water with every room facing the water. The staff are friendly and always willing to help. Beautiful big rooms with lovely balconies. The dinner and breakfast were also really good, with a great variety and a lovely outdoor area to sit at. I do however think the cleaning staff need to take a bit more care when cleaning. We were there for 6 nights and 3 of the nights we had to phone housekeeping because we did not have towels, or we did not get toilet paper, or we did not get our bath robes… and then housekeeping took at least 20-30minutes to bring the items. The other thing was that they put a single duvet into a double duvet - so when you are sleeping there are many times when you only have a sheet and no duvet. Maybe change that. Otherwise I really can’t complain about anything. There are plenty of beach chairs and there were always chairs available and it was an amazing and relaxing place."

"Let's talk about it from a few conveniences Facilities: three restaurants, two swimming pools, one of which is heated. The breakfast in the main restaurant is quite exquisite, and the food I ate for three days has not changed. The floating restaurant for dinner is very interesting and tastes good. It's just a little cold (it was winter when I went there). The spa is good and worth experiencing. I didn't try golf and shooting. It's a pity that there is no snorkeling activity. Sanitation: Very good, your room can be cleaned twice a day, and you will be asked at 7 o'clock in the evening if you want to tidy up the room and send you more water. Very good. Environment: This is too cozy to say. Service: This is very good, much better than the five-star hotels in the island cities in China, probably because of the enthusiasm of Africans. If you have to say the disadvantages, the hotel is very good, but it is a little old. The creaking sound of the floor in the room is very loud, and I am worried about waking up my companions when I get up at night."
