On the way to hotel from zermatt station if you follow the google map, it gonna lead u to hard way, very high upslope hill. it will be better if hotel provide u the easy path way to hotel."

"This is like an apartment of other Hotel, there is no reception on this hotel. You have to get everything from the other hotel next to it.
this is Swiss Wooden Hotel, so simple and nice. It is not like hotel in the city. My room is big enough for 3. Just have a small table to eat but we mange it.
Shower is ok but it is too tall for my mom (she is 5ft 4 ) to climb in. She is old so she needs to sit 1st and climb in. there is left but still need to walk a bit stair with your luggage.........
You can ask the reception in the other hotel for hot water, hair dryer."

"Though check-in was officially from 3 PM, they graciously allowed me to check in a little after 2:30 PM. My only minor concern is that the check-in area is quite small, which I imagine could be a challenge if it gets busy. I was incredibly impressed by the clear view of the Matterhorn directly from my room, without even needing to step outside – I'm so glad I chose this hotel. Both dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious."

"We just came here without many informations about this hotel, but their hospitality from staffs was Really Really great. I felt like I was staying 5+star hotel from their kindness.
Picked up by hotel car, free sauna, free to use mini bar, great balcony view considering the cost of staying, and also took us to the station again when we left.
I would strongly recommend this hotel, and there is also sister hotel named Hotel Daniela probably also great guessing from my experience from Hotel Chesa Valese.

"The location was excellent, just near Zermatt Bahnhof and easily accessible from most places. The room came with a balcony overlooking the mountains, offering a stunning view — we even watched black neck sheep while enjoying our dinner and coffee.

"At the same price, Pateau Rosa is a room facing Matterhorn, just opposite the cable car, but I just want to book this one.
Thinking that there are few skiers in August, this is so biased, it should be upgraded to a south-facing room for me.

⚠️ From the train station to take a taxi, Zermatt's small bus is not allowed to carry luggage. I booked a negotiated price of 23 Swiss francs in advance, and I spent 35 euros on the spot. Enough time, not too tired, the return journey is not bad, most of them are downhill, and it takes half an hour to walk to the train station."

"Initially I was a bit apprehensive about this hotel based on reviews but it was a good stay!! Great value for Zermatt! Walking distance about 10 mins from Zermatt station, on shopping street. Toilets and stairway up a bit small but ok for us. Luckily we were located on first floor so didn’t have to climb up too many stairs with our luggage. There’s a pizzeria below. Things to note: didn’t see a bin ( only a small one in toilet) so maybe bring your own plastic bag for a bin as well as room slippers.
Place was clean! However there’s some loud music that played even in the wee hours of the night like 3am, so if you are a light sleeper, you might need to put on some ear plugs to muffle the noise out. Nonetheless, A huge thank you for the stay. Convenient, Breakfast was awesome, simple spread but very heartwarming and the coffee was the most delicious I’ve had. It was the Easter weekend so there’s pretty Easter eggs for breakfast too! The lady owner was lovely and check in and check out was very easy and seamless. We stayed for a night and would recommend this place."

"Haha, they even helped set up our honeymoon room, which was so cute! They also arranged a relatively high-floor room for us as requested in the notes, which was more private. On a clear day, you can even see the Matterhorn from there.
The room is quite spacious, and the balcony is very comfortable. If it's not too cold, having a drink out there with the mountain view would be lovely.
The breakfast buffet has a good variety, including bread, salami, tea, coffee, and juice. The taste is pretty good too."

"This hotel is our lucky hotel! We ended the bitter wind and rain in Switzerland here and finally saw the Matterhorn! This hotel itself is also great. The interior layout and design are very cleverly using the elements of the Matterhorn. Moreover, we only made a temporary reservation at 6 or 7 last night. The lady at the front desk upgraded our room type. The room is so big and has a large balcony. There are free coffee and tea in the room. Their breakfast is also great. Because I was in a hurry to go up the mountain in the morning, I didn’t take any photos, but the breakfast is very rich, with various fresh fruits such as strawberries and kiwis, freshly fried meats such as bacon and grilled sausages, as well as vegetables such as broccoli and mushrooms, as well as various breads, juices and milk, and even freshly squeezed orange juice. You can also go to the bar and order a cappuccino. In short, you can eat very satisfying! The best thing is that this hotel also has a pick-up service. We originally had to drag the big box to the train station for more than ten minutes, and the small car took us directly there. It took a few minutes and arrived super fast! SStellakwansyStaying at this hotel in Zermatt was an unforgettable experience! The location is perfect—just 500 meters from the train station, making it incredibly convenient. The highlight of my stay was the warm hospitality from the owners, Thor and Michele. They personally served the buffet breakfast every morning, which was both delicious and thoughtfully prepared. On my first day, I unfortunately missed breakfast, but as I was heading out around 10:45 am, they surprised me by reserving some food for me to enjoy before leaving. It was such a thoughtful and touching gesture that truly made me feel cared for.
The room itself was immaculate and had everything I needed. The balcony offered a stunning mountain view, which was a perfect way to start and end each day. Thor and Michele went above and beyond to make me feel like a VIP throughout my stay. They remembered my name, attended to every need, and even took the time to explain the local attractions and recommend food options based on my preferences.
I feel incredibly lucky to have secured two nights at this gem of a hotel, especially since it’s almost always fully booked. This was one of the most personal and heartwarming stays I’ve ever had. If you’re visiting Zermatt, staying here is an absolute must. Thank you, Thor and Michele, for making my trip so memorable!

HHarmonickFor a truly memorable stay in Zermatt, look no further than the Traditional Julen Hotel. We travelled throughout Switzerland, and the view from our Matterhorn room was hands down the best we experienced. Waking up to that iconic peak every morning was simply breathtaking.
The service at the Julen is impeccable. The staff is incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to meet every need we had, making us feel truly welcome. Speaking of needs, be sure to grab a bite at their downstairs restaurant. The food is excellent, though the space is a little on the cozy (some might say claustrophobic) side. Don't let that deter you, though - the culinary experience is well worth it.
Overall, the Traditional Julen Hotel is a fantastic choice. Splurge on the Matterhorn room for an unforgettable view, and rest assured knowing you'll be taken care of by a truly exceptional team. Highly recommended!

GGuest UserThe hotel was in 5 minutes walking from Zermatt train station and it offered free shuttle for check in and out as there was a steep path to the hotel entrance, not good to walk with luggages. I booked 2 bedrooms family suite but only with one bathroom which was the downside. However, the total space of 60 meter sq with a decent living room and a small balcony facing Matterhorn were a plus to the overall stay. There were some minor defects and the staff fixed efficiently. They had an indoor pool, a jacuzzi and a sauna room. I had to mention that the jacuzzi was of high standard and you must go after a day of hiking. So bring your swimming suit. However, please note that in there culture, no clothes are allowed to enter the sauna room and it is in mixed genders. The breakfast buffet was lack of choices. But I had to specially name Mr Fernando, he always welcome us with very good coffee and of course his warm greetings in the morning.
Suggestion to the hotel:
1. Stated clearly the number of bathroom/ toilet in the booking details regarding my booking is a 2 bedrooms suite.
2. More choices for breakfast, my family stays 4 nights there. Everyday, the menu is same.
3. The pool was closed at 8pm, will be better if it closes at 9pm as it was rather rush for the guests to use after dinner.
Overall, I recommend this hotel to family. I will come back again.

GGuest UserThe Matterhornlodge is located about a 5-10 min walk from the Zermatt station.
We arrived at about 1pm and were informed that check-in was only at 2pm so we went for lunch and returned at around 2.30pm. We were greeted by Ruth, the proprietress of the hotel, who gave us a comprehensive briefing of the house rules and policies. Ruth was very warm, friendly, and charming; she was very guest-focused and was happy to find out more about where we were from and what we planned to do. Ruth even gave us recommendations for Bern when we told her we were going there next.
Although the hotel is stated to be 4 stars, we were very impressed by the room and the amenities. The bathroom came with a bidet and the toiletries provided were of good quality. The room was also very spacious with enough room to open up 2 luggage bags. The towels and robes were thick, warm, and fluffy.
The breakfast provided in the morning was also quite good with a decent selection of breads, cold cuts, cheese, and eggs.
At checkout, Ruth also gave us a complimentary ride to the train station in her electric vehicle.
All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay at the Matterhornlodge and we were very impressed by Ruth’s hospitality.

Although the hotel upgraded the room and there is a large terrace, the building is too low and the view in front is blocked. I don't know if this price is for the first floor. I'm also speechless. But the hotel has three swimming pools and the facilities are great. But the first floor room has a smell. It feels big. It's like the smell of wooden furniture. It's very smelly. Although they helped to deal with it, I didn't want to be sprayed with air freshener again. I didn't feel very comfortable staying for one night. There is a shuttle bus to and from the hotel. When I went there, I forgot that I had walked there. I took a detour and walked for a long time.

Breakfast had a good selection.
Housekeeping would check in on you and offer free chocolates.
The only feedback I have is the room didn’t provide English instructions on how to dial the concierge so I had to walk down to request for items.

AAngusThe hotel is halfway up the mountain. You need to take a small train to go up the mountain. It costs more than 30 Swiss francs per person. If you have bought a ski ticket, you don’t need to buy a small train ticket.
At the station in front of the hotel, you can call someone to pick you up, otherwise it is difficult to walk in the snow with luggage, but people still have to walk to the hotel.
The hotel includes breakfast + dinner. The breakfast is ordinary, and the dinner is different every day. It is very unpalatable on the first day. The second and third days are okay. But it is also a simple dinner. But the scenery is very beautiful and you can see the Matterhorn while eating.
The room is okay, each one is a mountain view room, and the hotel’s sauna and bathing pool are particularly good. You can see the Matterhorn, and it is very beautiful. Most people come here because of this.
The snow trail is at the door, but you can’t slide over to the cable car. You need to carry the skateboard up. Continue to sit up to the blue and red trails. If you slide down, there is only the red trail. But it’s nice to drink champagne at the rest stop on the road.

Supermarkets were walking distance away, and even food options were many like macdonalds, western food, etc.
the receptionist was warm and friendly and even extended us for an early check in when rooms are available.
The hotel was overall very cozy and clean, suitable for a short stay. The necessities are provided like soap, towels, hair dryer, tissue! Just note that there is no fridge in the room if that was your concern. Other than that, perfect stay!

GGuest UserThe hostel is located on higher ground, so there are some stairs to climb, but thankfully I didn't have a suitcase. The Matterhorn is visible right from the entrance, and it's incredibly spectacular. I booked the cheapest mixed dormitory, which is a bunk room. Luckily, everyone else was quiet, and I slept soundly. You can even see the Matterhorn from the dorm window. Additionally, the hostel's service was excellent; the front desk staff were very friendly. I only brought a European adapter, and the front desk staff lent me a Swiss adapter, which was a huge help! Lastly, the hostel's breakfast was also very generous, and I was very satisfied!
