Located just North of US Hwy 2 between Ironwood and Bessemer in Big Snow Country of Michigan’s Western Upper Peninsula, Waldhein is the red chalet with sand and slate-colored trim at the corner of Creekside Trail and Powderhorn Road. Conveniently located on your way to the main lodge of Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort, our pull-thru driveway accesses both roads, so parking is ample for multiple vehicles. No need to turn trailers around, just pull right on through!We’re minutes from Blackjack and Indianhead Mountain for boarding and downhill skiing variety.For your Big Powderhorn Mountain experiences, you can WALK up Powderhorn Road to Lift #1 (about 1200 ft), drive, or you can take the shuttle during snow season to the Gun Barrel Lodge or any of the other bars/restaurants in the Mountain area.You have ride in/ride out access (leave your trailers in our driveway) to SNOWMOBILE & ATV TRAIL # 2.Cross-country skiers can pole across the road for local Nordic trails and are in close proximity to the 26 Km Wolverine Nordic Cross Country Ski & Mountain Bike Trails.Waldhein is a two-level chalet with front decks on the main and upper levels. The lower front deck with charcoal grill on the main level (except during snow season).It has three private bedrooms (1 Queen on the main level, 2 Full-size bedroom on the upper level) and a lofted space with 2 Twin-sized beds. There is a bathroom available on each level (shower/tub combo on the main level, shower on upper level). The main level has a living room space, dining table and card table nook, all with a view of the central wood-burning fireplace! The kitchen is fully-stocked with anything you might need during your stay, including coffee and an assortment of teas and honey. Linens and most bath necessities are provided. A recently updated chalet in the village at Big Powderhorn Mountain. Timbuktu is located at the end of a private cul-de-sac and within a short 10-minute walk to Big Powderhorn Lodge and ski lifts. Uniquely, Timbuktu is powered by an on-site solar system which is supplemented by other renewables. Timbuktu is a duplex with us, the owners, living next door. We have an area of open space including a living room and kitchen that is over 1000sq.' It has 2 fireplaces. A gas fireplace in the living room and if you prefer wood there is a wood one in the kitchen. Time to clean up, we have 3 full bathrooms stocked with shampoo, conditioner, soap.
