"The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this resort for couples and families, as it offers plenty of activities for children as well. Although the resort was fully booked during our stay, we never felt crowded because the property is so spacious. The standout features include the exceptional service, the beautiful beach, and the impressive 350-meter-long pier extending into the ocean. At the end of the pier, you'll find the renowned Blue restaurant, the perfect spot for a superlative romantic dinner featuring an exquisite shellfish menu."

"We had the pleasure of staying at Baraza Resort and Spa as a family of three in April 2026. We stayed in a two-bedroom Sultan Villa, and the space is incredibly generous. The villa is elegantly furnished and impeccably maintained. You enter through a welcoming hall with a coffee station and minibar. The second bedroom has twin beds, a bay window seat, and its own ensuite bathroom, with more than enough space for two. There is a separate lounge with comfortable seating, a television, and a daybed that quickly became a favourite spot. The main bedroom is equally impressive, with a dressing room, a large bathroom, and a calm, private feel. The linen and towels are excellent quality. Large doors open onto a private patio and garden, complete with a small plunge pool, sun loungers, and built-in seating. Everything you might need has been thought of. The resort itself is well cared for and consistently neat, with attention to detail throughout. The gardens are lush and carefully kept. There is a large main pool with ample loungers, along with poolside food and drink service. That said, the beach was our favourite. It was noticeably quieter, with most guests choosing to stay by the pool. The shaded reed umbrellas and loungers facing the sea, together with the steady breeze, made it a very relaxing space. Even over the Easter weekend, when the resort was busy, it never felt crowded or overwhelming. My daughter and I had treatments at the Frangipani Spa, which carries the same refined, almost regal atmosphere as the rest of the resort. It felt like a real treat from start to finish. The food deserves a special mention. This is the first boutique hotel where we have experienced such a wide variety of fresh, well-prepared meals. Smaller hotels often have more limited options, but that is not the case here. Baraza has set a very high standard. The fresh juices, cocktails, and wines were all excellent too. Service throughout our stay was consistently outstanding. Staff were warm, attentive, and always willing to help. There are too many individuals to name, but the management can be very proud of the team they have built. My husband also completed six scuba dives with the Rising Sun Dive Centre. He described the reefs and marine life as vibrant and healthy, and the dive team as professional and well organised. There is a daily activity programme on the beach, which adds a nice touch. From Easter egg hunts for children to cocktail tastings for adults, there is something for everyone. We also tried weaving hats and handbags from palm leaves, which was both enjoyable and memorable. I cannot recommend this resort highly enough. While the setting and facilities are exceptional, it is the people who truly make the experience. A special thank you to Evelyn and Yassine for such a memorable stay. We will definitely return."

"We had an amazing first trip to Zanzibar and stay at the Sands. The food, the views and the company was great - we loved John who was so helpful and nice, as well as Cassiano who made great drinks! We travelled a long way from the United States and would recommend!"

"Let me start by saying that the restaurant staff was amazing, kind, friendly and really helpfull. During the reservation we mentioned our early arrival during the night, wich was confirmed with the reservation but upon arrival the hotel let us wait several hours outisde amongst large amounts of musquito's. We stayed for several nights at the hotel but never really felt welcome. From the start we where confronted with rules that where strange. Our friends from nearby where not allowed in the hotel, not even to pick us up so we had to walk out of the gate. The entire ambiance in the hotel was very unwelcoming somehow we where glad to move to another hotel. "

Since we found The Palms at Zanzibar some years ago we don't have to search any longer. Perfect service, the best food the Indian Ocean can offer and very nice wines from South Africa.
