"Stayed 2 nights – secure parking + simple comfy rooms in Hobart
We booked Bay Hotel Apartments for the on-site parking, and it was worth it. Driving in Hobart CBD can be stressful, but parking right at the hotel made everything easy. The apartment was simple, clean, and quiet with a comfortable bed. Nothing fancy, but perfect for 2 nights exploring Salamanca and the waterfront on foot."
"Drove straight to the hotel after coming down from Mount Wellington. The hotel is directly opposite the pier. Pulled back the curtains and the view was lovely. Parking in the basement is AUD 25 per day, but you have to lug your luggage up a flight of stairs. If you have less luggage, you could park in the public car park next door, which should be free at night. This is probably the hotel with the best views in Hobart."
"Not great if u drive. It will cost u $42 a day for valet parking. Breakfast was decent with a à la carte main and a buffet continental when u pay for it with ur room. 24 hrs room service was also appreciated but the food could be better. Location was smack right in town with woolsworth supermarket just 5mins away on foot."
"Located at the harbor pier, it has its own parking space, which is very convenient. There are many restaurants around and the quality is not low. The Salamanca Market is also nearby, so food, accommodation and transportation are convenient."
"Our tour group booked us into this hotel, and it offered great value for money. There were a lot of Chinese guests staying here. The location is central, just a 15-minute walk to the pier. Breakfast was decent and standard, and the front desk staff were very friendly."
"Overall, I was very satisfied. I didn't experience any of the soundproofing issues mentioned in other reviews. The room was also much larger than the Ibis I stayed in later, far exceeding my expectations. There was lotion at the sink, as well as a dedicated hand soap. The mountain view from the window was beautiful, and the hotel staff were very friendly. The only minor drawback was a dark mark on the bedsheet, possibly from a washing machine or similar equipment. However, this small flaw doesn't detract from the overall experience, and I would definitely stay here again next time!"
"Good location, just walking distance to the main streets which closes very early. Restaurants are easily accessible. I self drive, nearest parking is of about 3-5mins walk away at $35AUD per night unlimited. I personally feel if i were to choose again, maybe i would just park at the nearest carpark beside, or park at the same carpark without using the hotel privilege, maybe it could be cheaper. This is because i only come back to the hotel at night and moved out early in the morning. Worth exploring if anyone were to try.
Cleanliness wise, im not too sure, i make room everyday but theres some stains in the bathroom which was left on day1, still there on day3, but room and bed definitely tidied.
Still worth to stay. Love the indoor pool and the breakfast is good too! (Ala carte order, not buffet)"
"Stayed for one night for a work conference. The check in was smooth and quick, I opted for convenient on-site parking and dining in-house. The Charcoal restaurant food and wine menu was excellent, service was attentive and fast. Check out was easy. I walked into town to buy some items required for my work, its central location is commendable. I highly recommend staying here."
"How to describe it... the room was very spacious with high ceilings, and both the views outside and the common areas inside were fantastic. The breakfast was a set meal, beautifully prepared and delicious – more than enough to eat.
The downside was that upon arrival at 5 PM, the staff had already left. I called them, but their English wasn't great, and it took me half an hour to figure out how to open the password lock and get the room card. The staff work from 8 AM to 4 PM, and breakfast starts at 8 AM, which is a bit late. I stayed for three nights but only managed to have breakfast once due to the timing.
In the bathroom, there were no mouthwash cups. The sink was too small, and water would splash out easily if the tap was turned on too much. The faucet looked nice, but it was hard to find the right water temperature; you had to turn it millimeter by millimeter to adjust it. On the plus side, parking was convenient and free, which is a definite advantage since most hotels charge for it."
"We had the most amazing stay here, all thanks to the incredible hospitality! We arrived at Hobart Airport after a super long and exhausting journey, and we were honestly running on empty. Melissa at the front desk was an absolute lifesaver! She noticed how tired we were and immediately went to work trying to get us an early check-in. Since our room wasn’t quite ready, she safely stored our luggage for us and text us the very second it was clean. That meant the world to us!She also gave us a fantastic, super detailed rundown of all the hotel facilities.
To make things even better, our room had a stunning, super beautiful view of the lake. We couldn't take our eyes off it!"

Great
CCodyyyCrazy how amazing everything was. One of the best hotel experiences we have ever had. Staff were extremely friendly, and the building just looked amazing. The free cake for our anniversary was a very nice touch.
GGuest UserThe room wasn't very big, and since I booked only a week in advance, the price was a bit higher than expected. Overall, the hygiene was acceptable, although there were hairs on the bed and in the bathroom when I checked in. The hotel staff helped us resolve that. I forgot to take photos of the room, but you can refer to the hotel's pictures and other reviews; they're all pretty similar. It's worth noting that international hotels aren't as accommodating as domestic ones when it comes to upgrades. Here, you'd either need to be a high-tier member or pay for a higher room category to get an upgrade.
Each day, the room is stocked with two bottles of drinking water, a carton of milk, and the usual capsule coffee and tea bags – pretty standard. However, I don't understand why housekeeping moved my belongings. Several times, I returned to find my neck pillow on the floor, clothes I'd hung on the hanger had been moved, and my slippers were in a different spot. While it's not a major issue, it was a bit annoying for someone with OCD. I hope the hotel can pay attention to this aspect.
I've included a few breakfast photos. On a side note, the fillet steak at the downstairs restaurant was very tender and worth trying.
NNizuiaideqiannanyouThe owner was very concise and straight to the point, highlighting all the key information. The hotel is located near the market and has its own backyard that can fit about ten cars. Coles and McDonald's are a twenty-minute walk away, and there's a Chinese restaurant right across the street. It's also very close to the port.
ZZhengpaiguBreakfast is good, traditional English breakfast, compared to other big hotels may not be many types, but there should be classic food, and old British favorite marmite.
The scenery of the hotel is very good, you can faintly see the sea.
CCatherine EeveeSince we arrived in the early hours of the morning, the hotel was very accommodating. Knowing my wife is pregnant, they allowed us to check in a little early so she could rest properly. Overall, it was good, aside from some noise. However, I think this is due to poor soundproofing, which seems to be a common issue across Australia. Essentially, it's very convenient, with a bus stop and light rail station right downstairs, making it easy to get to different attractions.
SShuk Fun KittyGood location, friendly check in and close to the city, go for nearby restaurant for breakfast in walking distance. Small playground for kids. With electric blanket during winter which is very comfortable.
AAnonymous UserI took a public bus from Hobart city and arrived in 10 minutes from the bus stop. Public buses are currently free for a limited time, so I recommend it for those who want to save money. The double bed and shower-toilet were spacious, and I could watch YouTube on the TV. The next morning, I had to go to the airport before the first shuttle bus, so I walked to save money. It was a 30-minute walk pushing a suitcase, but the sidewalks were well-maintained and easy to walk on.
AAiqinhaixingxingThe room was very nice, the boss was very nice, and he also provided a rich breakfast. It is also very convenient to go to various tourist attractions. It's also very close to the city. The overall feeling of staying here is very relaxing!
YYao LungThe room photos on Trip.com were taken when the room was brand new. It clearly is no longer the case now - some staining on the curtains and soft furniture and marks on walls. Overall, for the price, it's still acceptable.
Check-in is done at the bar like most similar types of accommodation above a pub.
Bedding is exceptionally comfortable - special mention of the supremely comfortable mattress and pillows. 5-star bed.
Water pressure in the shower is weak - 60% of what I would have liked.
Bottled water and milk in the fridge is a nice touch. Crockery and cutlery provided in the kitchen.
You will have to lug your luggage up 1 flight of stairs as there's no lift.
ЛЛягушка путешественницаThe motel itself is actually not bad. Based on the reviews, I was expecting it to be worse. But the rooms are fresh and clean.
It lacks air conditioning though. It was cold at night and hot during the day.
Also, a suggestion for the owners – it would be great to have at least a microwave downstairs. Sometimes you just want to heat something up for a quick bite, but...
And there can be issues with parking spots. There aren't many spaces available. It's first-come, first-served.
