Hotels near Forbidden City, Beijing

"The room is comfortable and the location is great. However, I have three issues worth mentioning: Construction noise  1. Construction noise: There is construction work nearby, and they appear to work through the night. If your room is in stacks 01 to 26, the construction noise may keep you awake. 2. Pillows are too soft and thin : The pillows were quite thin and lacked support. Some hotels now provide two options, such as one memory-foam pillow and one softer/thinner pillow, which gives guests more choice. 3. Lighting in the room : As the room has an open-concept design, it is not possible to switch off the main room light while keeping the toilet lights on. This makes the room quite bright at night and can be uncomfortable when trying to sleep. Overall, the room and location are good, but these points could be improved to make the stay more comfortable."

"The hotel is a bit old, so the room style is a bit dated, but the overall decor is nice, and the bed and bedding are very comfortable. I initially thought an older hotel like this would have poor soundproofing, but there wasn't any issue at all – it was super quiet at night! We chose this hotel for its proximity to the Forbidden City and Jingshan Park, and it was incredibly convenient. After exploring the vast Forbidden City, everyone was exhausted with nowhere to go near the Shenwu Gate. But for us, it was just a few hundred meters back to the hotel to lie down and rest, which was fantastic. The next morning, we woke up early to climb Jingshan Park for a panoramic view of the Forbidden City. It was just a few hundred meters away, and the path was very easy to navigate. The breakfast was excellent, 👍 with great Beijing specialties and delicious flavors. The staff were prompt, enthusiastic, and reliable. They even helped us find our child's backpack that was left outside the door. We're so grateful!"

"Apart from the renovation which we were told beforehand, the room we had was dark (probably because it was a windowless room), humid, aircon wasn’t strong but they provided a fan. Could smell urine even with the toilet seat covered, toilet door was closed, to a point that i was awaken by the foul smell. Had to spray perfume to have it barely covered. Ventilation was super bad. Cons aside, service was good, fridge in room had free drinks. Would recommend to book a window room if you had to even though friend that stayed in the window room said it was bad too. There’s a mall few minutes walk away which was a plus. Good view on the reception floor too."

"Super convenient! It's close to everything. I was on a business trip and the room design was really functional, making for a comfortable stay. The cleanliness was much better than the last courtyard hotel I stayed in. Highly recommended! 😄"

"Facilities: Excellent, the bathtub was very comfortable. Cleanliness: Housekeeping cleaned regularly and diligently. Ambiance: Ancient charm, and the air conditioning was nice and cool. Service: The front desk staff were very welcoming. When our suitcase broke, they even proactively recommended a place to buy a new one. The location is especially good."

"This guesthouse, tucked away in a hutong, is the former residence of Edgar Snow and perfectly captures the old Beijing hutong charm. I stayed at Beijing Zhong An Hotel for three days, and my overall experience was excellent. The hotel staff were warm and attentive; one of the service guys even helped me carry my luggage to the room. During my stay, I saw many foreign guests, which created a great atmosphere. The breakfast, especially, was a highlight. It was a Western and Chinese buffet with a rich variety of authentic dishes, catering to both Chinese breakfast preferences and Western light meals. The hotel's location is also superb, close to Beijing Railway Station. There's a small alleyway from the hutong that leads you to the hotel in about a hundred meters, and it's also very near Tiananmen Square, making transportation incredibly convenient. Overall, it's great value for money and highly recommended."

"The hotel's location is excellent, right across from the North Square of West Station in the Zhongyu Building. After exiting the station, remember to walk about 50 meters forward to the overpass. The hotel rooms are clean and tidy. The lounge area offers complimentary tea, internet-enabled computers, and free luggage lockers. There are also plenty of restaurants and supermarkets nearby. I'll definitely stay here again next time."

"The room was clean and hygienic, the hotel front desk staff were very enthusiastic, and the room attendants cleaned meticulously. The kids loved it! It was excellent. The food at the nearby restaurant was also delicious. They even gave us a free late checkout to help us pack, which was very thoughtful of the hotel. The room facilities are very smart, and the children really enjoyed the intelligent features. It's a fantastic hotel. We'll definitely stay here again next time we come to Wangfujing, and it's super convenient for getting around! Very nice!"

"First off, the location is super convenient, right by the Dongsi subway station. You can easily take the subway to Yonghe Temple or Tiananmen Square. If you're into city walks, you can stroll to Longfu Temple and Yonghe Temple, and if you get tired, you can even pop back to the hotel for a nap. It was really comfortable traveling with a child! We stayed in a king-size room, which was perfectly spacious for our family of three. The hotel was also very thoughtful; after we went out for a bit, we came back to find bedding laid out on the tatami mat, so our child slept there directly at night. The hotel lobby has a great sense of design, with a strong Chinese aesthetic – perfect for photos. You can also get a 'Tu'er Ye' (Lord Rabbit) stamp, which makes for a unique Beijing souvenir. Don't forget to grab a bottle of the customized mineral water next to it; the bottle has Beijing landmarks and 'I love Beijing' printed on it. Since I enjoy scrapbooking, I took it home and stuck it right into my journal. P.S. The breakfast was delicious!"
