Mercure Hangzhou West Lake Fengqi Road

9.7/10
Excellent

I chose the Mercure on Fengqi Road for my trip to Hangzhou, and overall, I was quite satisfied with my stay. It's very close to the subway station, so getting to West Lake and Hubin for shopping was a breeze. The room was meticulously cleaned daily, ensuring a comfortable night's sleep. The staff, especially Wanwan, were incredibly efficient and responsive whenever I had an issue. The breakfast selection was sufficient to fill me up and was enjoyable. All in all, it offers great value for money, and I would definitely consider staying here again on my next visit to Hangzhou.

This hotel's location is absolutely fantastic! There's a bus stop right outside the main entrance, and if you turn left and walk less than 500 meters, you'll hit Southern Song Imperial Street and Hefang Street, which are packed with creative cultural shops and trendy photo spots. The hotel itself has a gorgeous retro decor, very old-money style and super tasteful. Plus, coffee, milk tea, and chrysanthemum tea are all complimentary and free-flowing. They also have an underground parking garage, which is a huge plus if you're driving.

Had a wonderful three-day, two-night stay at the Fuchun Resort, a place I've long admired. The architecture, rich in Chinese aesthetics, blends seamlessly with the natural environment of Fuyang, creating a truly harmonious feel. Hiking here was wonderfully wild and scenic. The resort's thoughtful service was evident in every detail: from the welcome greeting and the consistently helpful and responsive personal butler (Benson) before arrival, to the doorman's proactive and natural assistance with luggage, and the waitress's meticulous inquiry about dietary preferences at breakfast. All these touches reflect the hotel's high standards of service and made me feel truly respected. I even left my hat in the calligraphy class and only realized it when the instructor notified me and said it would be promptly returned to the lobby. The shuttle drivers were also very punctual, almost always available on call. The housekeeping staff were diligent and friendly. The hotel also offers a wide range of activities, and the travel photography service was particularly high quality. Fuchun Resort truly lives up to its reputation as a high-end resort. I'd love to visit again!

Two nights, three days – I'd always heard that when it comes to hotels in Qiandao Lake, there's the InterContinental and then there's everything else. This trip really drove that point home. The drive from Wuxi to Qiandao Lake takes four hours. Since the InterContinental occupies its own island, having a car makes getting around much easier. The scenery along the Hangzhou Ring Expressway leading to Qiandao Lake is absolutely stunning, especially once you enter Qiandao Lake itself, with its myriad of winding islands and towering mountains. As soon as you exit the highway, you're practically in the mountains. The InterContinental's flags lining the mountain road gave a real 'welcome home' feeling. Driving with the windows down along the lake, you're enveloped in fresh, oxygen-rich air. Before even entering the hotel, I spotted the lighthouse and the Arc de Triomphe. The hotel lobby entrance is a beautiful photo op, a perfect blend of lake and sky. I stayed in a lake view room, and the view was absolutely breathtaking, overlooking Qiandao Lake. Add a Qiandao Lake beer, and my mood was instantly uplifted. The floor-to-ceiling windows had a sofa for enjoying the view. The room was spacious and very well-maintained. They even provided a crib for my child, which was reassuring. The toiletries were excellent, and the bathtub was perfect for a relaxing soak. I'd read many reviews about the dinner, and after trying it myself, I thought it was quite good. While the variety might not be extensive, it was definitely sufficient, and the taste was decent. For breakfast, I'd seen reviews mentioning long queues, but it's really just for registering your room number. Seating was quick, and the food was good. I recommend sitting by the window in the priority seating area, where you can see the infinity pool seamlessly blend with the Qiandao Lake scenery. Swan Lake offers animal feeding, but this area could definitely be improved. There were too few animals, and I suggest increasing the interactivity. The kids' club has different zones, but I think it could be even better. The space is quite large, and with better planning and layout, a more integrated approach could offer more movement options for kids, and improved climbing and ground-level activities. I highly recommend both the infinity pool and the indoor pool. My kids didn't want to leave! The pools have shallow and deep areas, catering to children of all ages. You can also rent or buy swimming gear at the hotel, which is very convenient. The scenery is stunning, and the water quality is excellent. Being a large hotel, it's perfect for an evening stroll, whether to the viewing platform, the lighthouse, or just along the lake – it's very relaxing. Renting an electric tour car for 120/hour is a great way to explore the mountains comfortably in the summer. The hotel offers many activities, such as children's themed events and morning guided hikes. It would be even better if they added more water activities or equipment. It's wonderful to slow down and relax on this tranquil island amidst a busy life. Finally, a special thank you to 'Butler Landy'. Landy's service was impeccable – attentive, thoughtful, and reliably efficient. She responded quickly and resolved any issues. I felt her genuine sincerity throughout, and the service experience was top-notch. If you stay here, you must find her!

The environment here is fantastic! The lobby has books, a guzheng (Chinese zither), and calligraphy brushes, plus two adorable parrots 🦜. I'm very satisfied with this hotel; the rooms are spotless, and the front desk staff are wonderful. It's also very convenient for getting around. To go to West Lake, you just need to take the subway to Xiuxi Road Station. I really love it and will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Hangzhou.

I brought my family for a relaxing, slow-paced summer trip. We booked two suites and stayed for 6 days, and the experience was truly great. The location is absolutely fantastic! Turn right out of the hotel and you're at the Intime commercial district in just 20 meters. West Lake is only a 5-minute walk away, or you can even cut through Intime, which is perfect on rainy days. During the day, after visiting scenic spots, we could head to the commercial street in the evening for food and drinks – it perfectly suited our rhythm. Although the rooms are a bit dated, the cleanliness and service were excellent. The housekeepers on our floor were so warm and friendly every day, even helping me fold clothes. The 10th-floor observation deck was amazing; we could overlook West Lake without even leaving the hotel. Breakfast was very good, and the dishes changed daily throughout our 6-day stay. The only minor flaw was the somewhat inconvenient placement of cutlery; it should be available in both the front and back sections. Also, there should be bowls where the milk and cereal are. Overall, the experience was great, and I would definitely choose to stay here again.

I stayed in a central lake view room, and when I opened the window, I was greeted by a panoramic view of the entire lake. The lobby bar had live music both during the day and in the evening, creating a great atmosphere. The infinity pool was definitely photogenic, excelling in both location and ambiance. I have to give a special shout-out to the hotel pillows – they were incredibly comfortable, just the right firmness, and my neck felt perfectly fine. It's even better value for money during the off-season, so I recommend visiting for a day or two then. Enjoying the island's lake views and sipping on some fish soup – that's just too relaxing!

Rushi Residence Forest Healing Homestay

It's like living in a forest, with acorns constantly falling from the trees. The hotel is very clean, with virtually no mosquitoes. The room facilities are all excellent, especially the toilet flushing, which isn't too loud. Special praise goes to the hotel staff; their service was exceptionally good from check-in to check-out. They provided afternoon tea with fruit platters, nuts, and tea; offered ginger soup and ice packs if you had a cold; and promptly came to your room to help with any issues. The hotel only offers vegetarian food. I tried it once, and it was quite good and creative. Compared to the Black Pearl Hotel (averaging 1000 RMB per person), it's definitely not quite as good, but it's much better than other vegetarian restaurants in temples. Every ingredient was very fresh, although there were some issues, like the watermelon in the complimentary fruit platter being sweet and the blueberries being extremely sour. If you don't want vegetarian food, the surrounding farmhouses are a good option, offering fish, chicken, stir-fries, etc. I randomly picked a few and none were bad. The hotel also arranged various courses, including a healing class and Baduanjin (Eight Pieces of Brocade). Lying in a cabin surrounded by trees and feeling the breeze on a platform by the forest river was a truly therapeutic experience! I stayed for two days and there were still many courses I didn't get to try, so I'll make up for them next time! I'll consider bringing my parents next time.

The front desk staff even upgraded our rooms and arranged them together so it was easier to look after the children. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I visit.
