"The hotel's location is perfect. It's right around the corner from the south exit of Berlin Central Station. The first building you see is HUAZHU's European flagship, and the Intercity Hotel is the building right after that. You can even see it from the train, and the hotel has views of the station, which is a huge plus. Berlin Station's transport can be a bit complicated, so it's a great choice if you're new to the city.
The room itself was fine – basic facilities, clean, and a bit business-oriented.
My main issue was with the staff's very average attitude (hard to rate, honestly). They don't offer luggage storage themselves; you have to use a third-party locker service within the hotel, which is extremely expensive. A large locker costs €14 per day, completely messing up my plans for exploring after check-out. I definitely wouldn't recommend this hotel for day-trippers. Sometimes, the price difference between this hotel and the five-star one next door is only a small amount, so why wouldn't you choose the other? I can't think of a reason to stay here again. This is also the first time I've encountered a hotel in Europe/abroad that doesn't offer luggage storage. If this had been made clear before booking, I wouldn't have reserved a room."

"I was very satisfied with my stay at the Mercure Hotel Berlin City. Both check-in and check-out were completely straightforward and pleasant. As an All Accor member, I even received a complimentary early check-in and late check-out, which made my stay significantly more relaxed.
The room was clean, well-maintained, and in excellent condition. I was particularly pleased with the great value for money, as I was able to book the hotel at a fantastic price through Trip.com.

Staff: Super friendly and welcoming! Very attentive and you can feel you’re welcome here.
Room: spotless and well equipped! The shower was very good, loved the room!
Location: Just 15 mins walking from main station and Friedrichstrasse. around Oranienburgerstrasse lots of nice restaurants and cafes, also only 5/10 mins walking! Also to Hackischer Markt close walking. Trams/subway in front!

"The location is the biggest advantage of staying here. Even though the hotel is situated directly on Friedrichstraße, the room was very quiet when the windows were closed.
Breakfast was a pleasant surprise and exceeded my expectations. There was a wide selection, including fresh, partly homemade bread, various egg dishes, vegetables, and fresh fruit for making your own smoothie.
The only downside was the route from the hotel lobby to the room. It passes through a rather unusual public area outside the ”real” hotel, and the elevators and staircases are shared with other private residents, which made the experience feel less convenient."

"The location of the hotel was perfect, very close to the train station and thus walkable to a lot of the main tourist spots. Overall super satisfied and recommend. The hostel also had a public kitchen for use, which makes preparing meals to be very convenient."

The room was spacious and clean. A nice big shower and some free water was very nice.
The only minus was no air-conditioning. The room felt very warm on the 6th floor even though it was not that warm outside in May. The window could be opened but because the room was on the front the traffic was very loud in the night.
Had a lovely stay and would recommend to stay here. Maybe not in the warm months in Summer.

GGuest UserDespite my explicit request for a quiet room when booking, the first night was very disruptive due to a high level of noise. Although I was assigned a new room the next day after my complaint, it was located opposite the fitness and sauna area. The loud slamming door caused by the high turnover of guests also prevented the desired night's rest there.
I found the incident on my last day particularly distressing: even though I had put the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door, a staff member gained access to my room with a master key around 8:00 AM. I consider this a significant violation of my privacy.
Due to these experiences, I feel compelled to reduce my rating of your service by two points.

RRPSMWe recently stayed at The Circus Hotel in Berlin, taking two rooms for a short family trip. The experience was, in many respects, excellent. The location is ideal—central, with easy access to public transport and within walking distance of a huge variety of restaurants and shops.
Service throughout was truly commendable. Staff were attentive, friendly, and helpful at every turn. The hotel bar is a genuine highlight—stylish, welcoming, and well-stocked. We especially appreciated the honesty bar and terrace upstairs, which made for a beautiful, relaxed afternoon during our stay.
Breakfast was another strong point, offering a good variety of quality options in a comfortable setting. The rooms themselves are well-sized, clean, and nicely appointed.
However, there’s a major issue that any traveller should be aware of: there is no real air conditioning. What’s provided is what I would describe as a comfort cooling system—more symbolic than functional. During our stay, temperatures hovered around 25 °C during the day and 18 °C at night, yet the rooms remained unpleasantly warm. Both rooms had fans, and the windows had to be opened to let in any real cool air. It’s quite clear that the hotel expects guests to rely on the fans, which is not acceptable given the climate realities of Berlin summers.
This significantly affected our comfort and sleep. For travel between late May and early October, I would strongly caution against booking unless you’re completely indifferent to room temperature.
It’s unfortunate, because in almost every other respect, The Circus Hotel is a real gem. I genuinely wanted to love it, and in cooler months, I very likely would. But the absence of proper climate control is a deal-breaker in warmer weather, and it’s clear the hotel is aware of the issue—hence the fans in every room.

• No air conditioning—only a weak cooling system and fans
• Rooms become uncomfortably warm even in moderate summer temperatures
Conclusion:
A brilliant hotel during cooler seasons. But for summer stays, particularly with children or light sleepers, the lack of proper climate control unfortunately outweighs the many positives.

GGuest UserAs good as advertised. A funky place. Clean, good sized rooms. Big windows. Great buffet breakfast. Close to East West Gallery and Warschauer Strasse train station, and LIDL, for picking up some extra items. The bar was nice, with live entertainment one night. On another night the bar was closed for a private event, but they had noticed up so that you could plan elsewhere. And if you needed anything from the bar that night, the front staff assisted.
Would definitely come again.

OOlga HladkikhWe stayed at NH Collection Berlin Mitte for two nights over the weekend. Overall, it’s a great value for a short trip. The location is excellent and the staff at reception were very friendly and helpful. The room had everything we needed (comfortable bed, great bathroom, TV).
The best part was the sauna included in the price — perfect after cold winter walks, and it’s open until 10 pm.
Two small downsides: we felt a slight draft from the balcony window (winter stay), and there was a faint “old” smell in the room. Not a big issue, but worth mentioning. We didn’t try breakfast, so can’t comment on food.

We tried ordering room service but we didn’t have a way to do it and when we called reception they basically told us to just look in the room for the menu. We only had a breakfast one. FFVR - SPAINI recently stayed at this hotel , and I have to say my experience was a real mix of good and bad. I'll break it down clearly so other travelers know what to expect.
Check-in experience
I arrived at the hotel AT 21 PM, which was supposed to be the standard check-in time. To my surprise, there was absolutely nobody at the reception desk. I stood there waiting, thinking someone would appear in a minute.. After a while staff member finally came out from a back office. They looked a bit stressed or overwhelmed.The check-in process itself was rushed and cold.
Coffee in the room – horrible
Another big downside was the in-room coffee. The hotel provides instant powdered coffee – the cheap, soluble type that comes in a small sachet. I made a cup hoping for a decent morning coffee, but it was truly horrible. The taste was artificial, bitter, and had absolutely no real coffee flavour. It honestly tasted like chemicals. In my opinion, a hotel charging these rates should definitely offer capsule coffee (like Nespresso or a compatible system). Powdered coffee is outdated, low-quality, and leaves a terrible impression on guests who appreciate a good cup of coffee to start the day. This is a small detail that makes a big difference. I ended up going out to a nearby café to buy real coffee.
THE POSITIVE POINTS
Cleanliness – excellent
On the positive side, I have to say that the cleanliness of the room was impeccable. The bed sheets were crisp, white, and spotless. The bathroom was perfectly clean – no hair, no dust, no stains. The floors were well swept and mopped. It's clear that the housekeeping staff takes their job seriously and does an excellent job. I felt very comfortable in terms of hygiene and tidiness.
The room itself – fine
The room was fine. It wasn't luxurious or particularly stylish, but it was perfectly acceptable for a short stay. The bed was comfortable enough, the TV worked well, the Wi-Fi connection was stable, and the air conditioning functioned properly. There was enough space to move around and store my luggage. So for a basic, no-frills stay, the room met expectations.

I stayed for 2 nights in a mixed dorm with three bunk beds and en-suite. The toilet and shower are separate which makes use easier. Hanson’s and shower gel is included, as is a hairdryer.
The room is spacious with tables and seating areas, this is also of use to those who on the top bunk who cannot sit on their bed as easily. There is a mirror though a lack of hooks being only a hook and couple of hangers. The bed is of a metal frame and thus I was able to apply my travel straps and hooks to create places to hand my coat and bag. There is a locker big enough to take hand luggage sized bag (own lock needed). The bed has a usb port for charging and a slot into which a phone will fit, though no individual light. The room has two lights and it is possible to turn on only one; the other people in my room came in and out at unsociable hours though we’re all respectful being quiet and also putting in the main light.
The mattress and pillow are comfy enough, you need to collect linen and make the bed yourself.
Everything was clean.
Reception is 24 hours though checking us via one of the 4 automated screens. It is through the machines that you do check in and pay tourist tax and the machine prints paper with your allocated room and bed number. You even activate the room card yourself. There is a sign in the desk with a map of blocks with room numbers in each one. That is all the welcome that you get; there is no explanation related to hostel layout or facilities. I had to ask in which direction to go to get to my block, the receptionist gave my directions and once I got to the room and found no bedding on the bed so went back to reception. The check in computer screen states that bed linen is provided free of charge and towels can be paid for at reception. The receptionist did not give me any bedding nor point to where to where to pick it up some thus I assumed the linen would be laid on the bed as in other hostels. The next day a person arriving in the room asked where he gets bed linen, he also did not get given any bedding even when talking with the receptionist. I do find it odd that you are expected to ask for the bedding: as this is the case I recommend updating the wording on the computer screen as it is ambiguous and gives the impression you only need to ask at reception if needing a towel.
There is a guest kitchen which has basic equipment: fridge, sink, microwave, 2 hot plates, 2 frying pans, 1 saucepan, some plates, bowls and some cutlery. There was one mug in which I made a cup of tea by heating water in the microwave. I recommend a kettle to boil water. The kitchen is sufficient for simple meals, making breakfast and sandwiches. I did not try the hostel breakfast.
There is one common area near reception with a bar and possibility to purchase food. Vending machines there. WiFi reliable. The common room can feel cramped when groups are there. There is good security as all entrance doors and lifts use card access. To access the guest kitchen ask at reception and they update your card.
The location is very good being 5 min walk from Ostkreuz train station. It is a direct line to Messe Nord where the bus station and FlixBus stop is. Easy to get public transportation into the cities. There are many shops, supermarkets and eating places nearby. Vegan kebab shop directly opposite.
Good value for money. I had a comfortable stay with no difficulties and I would stay again.
