"Everything was perfect; except the dinner buffet. We will come to that later.  I quote four memorable experiences.   1. The reception staff was well-trained and professional and any problems such as a billing confusion was resolved effortlessly, and more, the manager suggested me to relax in my room while they sort out the issue; no need to stand at the reception. What a nice gesture!   2. There was some drainage issue in one of the rooms (I had booked several rooms). A call to zero resolved the issue within 10 minutes. The service was ultra-fast for a hotel of this size.   3. They have shown a bold move by placing specially challenged (speech and hearing) individuals at public facing roles such as the butler, the restaurant waiter, etc. They are all well-trained and were able to communicate with my parents, my kid, and us effortlessly. Of course, none of us are trained in sign-language but somehow they managed it extremely well; hence this was a unique and amazing experience. 4. While we were checking in, there was some confusion with some of our guests who hadn't arrived yet. So, we decided to drop the bags and come back later for checkin. When the manager noticed that my elderly parents were in the car outside, they sent a couple of bottles of water to the car. Costs nothing but left a lasting impression!  The dinner buffet was fine in general but the management could work on the menu and taste better, given the spotless nature of all of their other amenities and services. The breakfast buffet, however, had amazing taste. Moreover, in any other city, I would not have this complain but in Kolkata, the locals are typically foodies and the cheapest to the most expensive places in the city cannot compromise on taste. I would like to give the hotel a benefit of the doubt- I stayed during a (better: the) major North Indian festival. That might explain the main cooks on leave and backup options turned on, who tried their best but did not quite get it right."

"This was not my first stay at this hostel. Have stayed several times before. And am sad to see a gradual degradation in bathroom maintainance and lack of decency & discipline by the young guests from Tier3/4 towns of neighbouring states/districts, its hosting these days. Else the owner is very progessive minded and open to suggestions on improvements. All staff members are cordial and friendly. Location is prime with great connectivity with metro (MG Rd stn) & main railway hub (Sealdah) within walkable distance. Famous academic institutions, eateries, lagacy restaurants all around. Rooms are clean. ACs work perfectly. Bathroom cleanliness cud ne better. Breakfast cud be made optional at extra cost and taken on to the terrace as Terrace Cafe. Cooking foods by the guests shud be stopped completely. Guests entering other rooms freely at their will, shud be stopped. ALCHOHOL & SMOKING WEEDS MUST BE STOPPED (not by signing an undertakung from guests but by supervising strictly, specially at night). ELSE YOU WUD LOOSE DISCERNING FOREIGN SOLO TRAVELLERS PLUS A POLICE RAID WUD DAMAGE YOUR REPUTATION. A curtain around the beds cud be an added privacy feature. "

"Located at a very busy area, where the bustling streets are lined with clothing vendors. Was upgraded to a huge 2 room suite. However, it was next to the meeting rooms where there were a dozen seated students awaiting their interviews for all the 4 days I was there. Getting to my room meant having to walk past a row of seated students.  Although the room was clean, the shower cubicle was not. The edges were filled with black mold.  The staff were helpful and friendly.  Overall, I did enjoy my stay."

"We checked -in the hotel on Saturday night .. there are 2 club that’s very noisy inside the Hotel premises … the music was very (extra) loud  (no soundproof walls )although  our room was on 4th floor still it was not helpful in anyway the music ended at 4.00 am (both on Saturday /Sunday) it was very bad experience staying at the property ."

"Good location for tourist spots but quite noisy if you don't like the constant noise of beeping horns from the nearby road (not sure if it is even possible to escape this in India). It did get better between say 10.30pm and 8am). The train (immediately outside the hotel entrance) screeches by but not frequently, boat engines can be heard in the distance but it's on a river 😅. It was a bit of a party boat on some nights (loud and late disco noise if there is an event). The noise stopped at around 9pm one night but went on much later on another night; if your room is close to the bar it may be an issue was wasn't too bad for me as i use ear plugs. The most irritating noise, believe it or not, is people shouting or having loud conversations in the corridors. The room is 3* and there is no safe for your passport, cash, cards etc. The pillows, bed covers and floors were't cleaned particularly well. I had to help myself to consumables from the corridor as they weren't topped up by cleaners. Anyway, a very brief stay could be a good experience, one night maybe.I am pleased to have had the experience and despite the shortfalls would probably recommend it as a one off unique experience, for one or two nights. The breakfast was very good with lovely river views and a chill atmosphere."

"The towel rack and safe in the bathroom were positioned too high, making them completely out of reach for a petite person like me. The next day, I asked them to place the towels where I could reach them, but I never used the safe. The chair was also too high and couldn't be adjusted, making it difficult to sit on and dangerous, so I never used it. I arrived late at night and had the wrong date, so there was no reservation for the day I arrived. The female staff member who dealt with me was unfriendly and rude. In the end, I was able to stay thanks to a friend's contact, but the other staff were very kind."

"Room size is too small.Bed should be king size.As a full family the bed size little bit small . Room size must be more in that price."

"Hotel breakfast was good. We have dinner in hotel room that was also very good. Hotel location is also good. Bathroom was also very neat and clean . Overall hotel stay was very good."

"Amazing experience from the beginning to the end, perfect location, great historical building, breakfast was good, diverse and clean. Within walking distance to many major sightseeing spots. Room was big, bathroom was clean, functional and with a good typical hotel style environment too. 100% recommend."
