Hotels near Shijo, Kyoto

I want to share my gratittude to mitsui hotel staff & the services they provided. They provide good hospotality when we reach and they found out we come with a family of three, they even upgrade our room to 3 single beds room which make our stay even more comfortable during our trip to Kyoto! The room is clean and the Japanese Hot Shower bath they provided is really a good cultural experience for us as a foreign tourist. Their location is also spot on when you want to travel around in kyoto with walking distance bus stop which will brings you all around the hot spots of kyoto. Will definitely visit them again if we travel to kyoto.

We stayed 2 nights and we got a nice room on the 11th floor. Rooms are large for Japan standard, you can have space for 2 big luggage’s on the floor. Upon arrival they offered us a drink and they have a nice lounge at the basement. Room is great, bathroom was quite moldy. Staff speak very good English and the location is amazing near the shopping street area and 2 stations from Kyoto station.

The room is quite spacious, allowing me to open a 24-inch suitcase. There are two supermarkets downstairs that stay open late, making it very convenient for shopping. Multiple bus stops nearby offer easy access to anywhere you want to go. There's a direct subway line to Osaka, and getting to Arashiyama is also convenient, taking less than 30 minutes.

The location is super convenient. From JR Kyoto Station, take bus number 9 and get off at Shijo Horikawa. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel. There's also a 7-Eleven next door. The room isn't huge, but it's clean and tidy, and the front desk staff were very warm and attentive.

This is my favorite hotel thus far across the 5 hotels I've stayed in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. It gives you the ”zen” feeling and services are great. We booked the room without breakfast, but the grab and go (bread, waffles, milk, tea, coffee,etc.) they provided are already sufficient for a quick breakfast before travelling around. I personally also like the smell of the shampoo and conditioner they gave (light tea smell).

The room was very clean, and the location wasn't too far from Kyoto's core areas. It was a bit of a walk to the subway, but definitely manageable. There's a convenience store nearby which was very handy. The entrance has a beautiful, traditional Japanese design. The room came with a clothing deodorizer, which is super useful in Japan. Most hotels in Japan don't provide bottled water, but I think there were plastic cups and an ice machine available for free on the fourth floor, along with a vending machine. The coffee packets offered on the first floor, though, were quite bad.

📍 **Location**: Convenient, with two supermarkets nearby (Life and Fresco), making it easy to grab food and essentials. 🚌 **Getting around**: Kyoto mainly relies on buses, so the location works well if you’re traveling light. 🧳 **From Kyoto Station**: If you have big luggage, taking the metro can be inconvenient as it involves about a 1 km walk. I took an Uber instead, which cost around ¥2,000 — much more comfortable after a long trip. 💧 **Amenities**: Drinking water is provided near the lift, but you’ll need to collect it yourself daily. 🧺 **Laundry**: There’s a washing machine with washer + dryer available for about ¥800 per use. Payment can be made by IC card (like ICOCA) or cash. 🍱 **Breakfast**: Mostly local Japanese options. It’s good to try, but you may not need to take it every day unless you really enjoy local cuisine 😅 🛗 **Lift access**: The lift doesn’t go directly from the ground floor to your room. You’ll first go up to the hotel lobby on the 3rd floor, then change to another lift to access your room. 💡 **Tip**: Consider taking a taxi/Uber on arrival if you have heavy luggage, then use buses for daily travel. Overall, a comfortable stay with a practical location!

The hotel boasts a fantastic location, making it easy to get anywhere. There's a bus stop right outside, and the subway is also very convenient. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean, though the lighting was a little dim. The small eatery directly across the street served delicious food and offered amazing value. Even though the menu wasn't extensive, we ended up going there twice!

The hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk from Shijo Kawaramachi shopping street, with a Family Mart conveniently located right across the street. It's a quiet spot despite being close to the action, and I had a good stay. The yakitori place nearby seems to be quite popular.

The room was excellent, much larger than I expected. It's conveniently located for exploring, about 300 meters from the metro station, yet surprisingly quiet. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and enthusiastic. We asked for directions twice: the first time, they printed a map for us and explained some local history; the second time, when we wanted to find a shopping mall in the evening, they spent a long time explaining how to get there and even wrote down the mall's name for us. When we checked out in the morning, they proactively asked if we needed luggage storage.
