I stayed in a room that included breakfast and dinner, and the food was delicious. Overall, the meals were really good... As a solo traveler with a packed schedule, it was a huge relief to come back every day and have a proper meal instead of just a boxed lunch.
The hotel is about a ten-minute walk from Kyoto Station, which is convenient. There's a Lawson convenience store right downstairs, and a 7-Eleven just a few minutes' walk away. Across from the 7-Eleven, there are bus stops with direct routes to popular attractions, including buses to Arashiyama and the Shijo area.

I've stayed at a few Keihan Group hotels, and they've all been great, but this Kyoto Station South hotel is particularly excellent. The Chinese-speaking front desk staff provided fantastic service during check-in, making me feel truly at home. I also got lucky this time; I arrived at 12 PM and was able to check in early. The daily breakfast is also incredible value for money; 1980 yen on its own isn't expensive at all, and it's an absolute steal when bundled with the room. The 11 AM check-out time is very reasonable, and the luggage storage facilities are excellent, making you feel very secure. However, the self-service lockers fill up quickly, so you often have to leave your bags with the staff. All the amenities are thoughtful and convenient. The only minor drawback is that the expensive hairdryer is too large, taking up space and being awkward to use in the small bathroom. In the afternoons, you can also enjoy complimentary coffee and drinks at the restaurant. The location is unbeatable; it's right across the street from Hachijo Exit, making shopping, dining, and public transport incredibly convenient. The bus to Kansai Airport is also nearby, which is much more comfortable than taking the train. I will definitely stay here again next time I visit Kyoto.

The location is pretty good, very close to Kyoto Station. The hotel is clean and well-equipped. The only downside is that the two beds are pushed together.
After booking on Trip.com, I still had to pay a tax upon arrival. I thought it was a deposit, and when checking out, I stupidly went to the front desk to ask for it back. The staff member looked totally bewildered đł

This hotel offers great value for money and is often fully booked. The location is incredibly convenient, the management and service are excellent, and the rooms are clean and hygienic. This was the best hotel of our trip! It's about a six-minute walk from Kyoto Station, which made getting to Osaka and Nara super convenient and quick. The hotel is just across the street from Kyoto Station, and there's a 7-Eleven right next door. The breakfast spread was amazing, with eel, sweet shrimp, salmon, and other seafood served daily. They also had afternoon tea, nuts, and various alcoholic beverages. Plus, they offered free workshops to make dried flower bookmarks, bracelets, and origami flowers. The room had a minimalist, Muji-esque design â simple, elegant, with a separate wet and dry area, and excellent soundproofing.

It is a beautiful hotel.
The wind direction of the air conditioner was fixed on the bed side and could not be changed, so I couldn't sleep easily, and because it was a low bed, the corner of the bed seemed to hit my leg.
Other than that, I am satisfied.

This hotel is super convenient, right at the Hachijo East Exit of Kintetsu Kyoto Station â just take the escalator down and you're there. There's an indoor shopping street right outside, making it really easy to grab a bite or do some shopping. Plus, a large AEON mall is just a short walk from the station. The hotel service is excellent, and they even offer complimentary afternoon tea and coffee in the restaurant.

Shaver, comb, rubber band, & night wear can be taken as needed before heading to the room on the first floor !
There are even curler & straightener for rent.
During tea break timing or dinner timing, small snacks are available as well.
Room is cosy size. Able to watch Live TV channels and Netflix etc.
Only feedback would be that the toothbrush can be pacakage seperately from the toothpaste. Each toothpaste is good for max 2 use, but since we stayed more than 2 days, we keep opening new set for the toothpaste. Feel is a bit wasteful..đ
Otherwise, everything is great and will definitely stay here again!

Although the check-in time was stated as 9 PM at the latest, I knew I'd be arriving later than expected, so I called the front desk beforehand to say I'd be there at 9:30 PM. However, when I got to Kyoto, it was pouring rain, and I got completely lost. While rushing through the streets, I called the front desk again to say I'd be another 15 minutes late. The receptionist probably heard me panting and told me not to rush and that it was okay to take my time. When I finally arrived at the hotel, I realized the front desk staff was a ********* girl who could speak Chinese, which immediately put me at ease. I'm truly very grateful to her! đ

Their thoughtful service truly reflects the welcoming spirit of Kyoto and the hotelâs commitment to excellence.
I am genuinely impressed by the quality of the team members who bring guests happiness and satisfaction through their dedication. They truly deserve recognition and applause for their outstanding service.

IiamnotdelicateThe basic room type isn't in the main building; you have to walk up to the main building each time to have breakfast or soak in the onsen (hot spring). And it's not a real onsen; my friend's superior room was the real onsen. We were given a small room at the back of the hotel, but thankfully there weren't too many graves.
When I asked the staff at the entrance to take photos for me, they were very reluctant and had a sour face. At night, on my way back to my room from my friend's, the receptionist on duty in the lobby was also very rude. Overall, I was dissatisfied with the service.
The facilities are excellent, very new, and the hotel is quite small, but that's typical for Japanese hotels. The decor is also very nice; the aesthetics are on point.
There are at least three cemeteries and a bunch of shrines nearby; bring some amulets if you like.

GGuest UserThis hotel offers incredible value for money! It's super convenient, just a 5-minute walk from Kyoto JR Station. The streets on both sides of the hotel are lined with small restaurants and pubs, and there's a medium-sized drug store (Don Quijote) at the corner. The room was clean and tidy, and we could see Kyoto Tower right from our window. I especially recommend the hotel's shampoo â it's really good! đ The room was spacious enough for two adults and two 28-inch suitcases, with plenty of room to spare. There are USB charging ports by the bed. There's no kettle in the room, so you'll need to bring your own and an adapter. The breakfast on the first floor is a set meal, costing around 60 RMB per person. Highly recommended!

GGuest UserAlthough it was short, I loved my stay here. Had great quality of sleep. Good base for Kyoto, near enough to key locations, but expect a lot of walking unless you use the bus. Nearest station is Kyoto Kawaramachi which is great for day drips just outside central Kyoto and if you are coming from Osaka or Kansai airport - see my tips below.
Pros: great bathroom and toiletries, good water pressure and temperature, smart toilet, TV with streaming services, fridge, desk/stool, coat hooks (handy for winter time), semi-full length mirror, luggage rack, various lights to adjust to your preference, very clean, super comfortable firm mattress and pillows, good soundproofing for light sleepers, great air conditioning (room warms up pretty quickly in the winter), you can also open the windows which is nice, felt very safe as a solo female, can ask for more water bottles in reception, lift was never crowded, outlets next to bed, has luggage storage if you need, near the river and traditional streets for scenic strolls, close to bus stop, family mart otw from station for late night snacks.
Cons: can hear police cars or cars with loud engines at night sometimes but not frequent, walking from the station with a suitcase was a bit longer than expected, my double room was a bit cramped for opening suitcase (could not open the front or bathroom doors fully to avoid hitting my suitcase) and I am one person (two suitcases would fit but you wouldn't be able to walk around the bed properly).
Tips: If you are coming from Kansai airport (KIX), I recommend you take the airport limousine to Namba (bought a return ticket since it is cheaper). It drops you outside JR Namba station, you can go inside to get to the metro station, follow signs for the red Midosuji Line. Board the train to Umeda. Stay inside the station and follow signs for Osaka-Umeda or the brown Hankyu-Kyoto line. This line goes directly to Kyoto Kawaramachi station. When stations, always look for the lift signs if you have luggages. I think I took the lift closest to Exit 4, and it brings you up to a department store. You kinda have to walk through and get out. If you walk out the front entrance, there are a few steps, but if you go to the side doors, it has a slope to avoid carrying suitcases. It's a straight walk from the station. Unless you are doing day trips, Kyoto city buses are a lot better mode of transport in my opinion.

GGuest UserFacilities: My only complaint is that the king-size bed in the king room is made of two single mattresses pushed together, and after sleeping on it for a while, a gap forms between them.
Hygiene: The hygiene is excellent.
Environment: The surrounding area is very quiet, and there are convenience stores not too far away.
Service: The service attitude is great, and the hotel even offers free shuttle service to Kyoto Station.

AAnonymous UserThe biggest drawback was the size of the room for the price we paid. We could not even open our suitcases on the floor. There is no water in your room, you have to go downstairs to have a drink of water.
Do not have breakfast there, it's too expensive (if you cannot eat everything) . There is a supermarket (LIFE) a few meters away with a very nice bakery.
The hotel do however have all the toiletries available next to reception counter. Also coffee in the mornings from 6.30am with water and juice. A sauna and a hot pool, but you have to be in your *************. Not suitable for everyone.
I enjoyed our bathroom the most, as the shower was amazing.

GGuest UserThe hotel is quite a long walk from Kyoto Station; it took us about 20+ minutes on foot to get there. You could take the bus, but it doesn't really save much time. There's a good ramen shop right next to the hotel that even gave our child a toy. The room isn't huge, but there's enough space for luggage. The lobby downstairs offers free coffee, which I enjoyed every morning.

DDr.p3pp3rI stayed here in a double room and overall had a pretty good experience. The room was clean and comfortable, and both the air conditioning and heater worked very well. One thing that really stood out was the bathroom â the bathtub was much larger than what you usually get in Japan. Iâm a tall person, and I could actually sit down and lie back comfortably, which is rare. Most hotel baths feel very small, but this one felt closer to around 1.4m in length, which made having a bath genuinely enjoyable.
The bed was comfortable, and housekeeping did a great job â the bed was made every day with fresh sheets. Wi-Fi was also very fast, which was a big plus. Amenities were decent, and you can pick up extra items if you need them.
Check-in is a bit late at 3pm, which I didnât love, but thatâs balanced out by an 11am checkout. Having that extra time in the morning made it feel worth it overall.
I did have a couple of negatives. The strangest one was finding an old sock behind the TV when I arrived. It was very obvious and not hidden, so Iâm not sure how it was missed during cleaning. It was a bit gross, but I just left it.
Another downside was the mini fridge â itâs more like a cooler than a real fridge. It keeps drinks from getting warm, but they donât get properly cold. In summer, this really wouldnât be good enough. Replacing it with a proper mini fridge would be a big upgrade.
The other major issue was the lift. It is painfully slow, and thereâs only one lift for the upper floors. On checkout day, I left my room about 10 minutes before checkout time, and I almost didnât make it downstairs in time because of how slow it was. That part was honestly pretty ridiculous.
Location-wise, this hotel is excellent. Itâs very easy to get to from Kyoto Station â just head south and youâre there in about 4â5 minutes. Itâs also very convenient when leaving Kyoto by train.
A tip for using the subway: instead of going back to Kyoto Station, walk right from the hotel to ShijĆ Station. Itâs on the same subway line, youâll get on before Kyoto Station, and the train is empty â so youâre almost guaranteed a seat and can ride comfortably to your destinations.
For food and shopping, thereâs a shopping mall just across the road toward the station with a Don Quijote, McDonaldâs, and other options. The hotel is also right next to a Coco Ichibanya curry house, which is fantastic and open late.
Overall, despite a few odd issues, this was a solid stay with a great location, good comfort, and very easy access to transport. Iâd happily consider staying here again.

There's a bus stop right in front of the hotel, offering convenient access to major attractions in Kyoto. The subway station is about a 20-minute walk away.
