"This recently renovated onsen hotel is highly recommended! The rooms are well-equipped and comfortable, with a traditional Japanese style. The hotel features a public bathhouse and five private onsen, which is a great bonus. They also offer a complimentary drink bar in the afternoon, showing their dedication to excellent service. It's very close to both the subway and bus stations, making it an ideal choice for visiting Arashiyama, especially if you have a lot of luggage. I imagine it'll be quite difficult to book a room during autumn foliage season!"

"This hotel’s location is truly ideal for exploring the area. While the facilities have a nostalgic, slightly dated feel, they are exceptionally clean and well-kept. The hotel does a wonderful job of preserving its traditional cultural atmosphere. A standout was the Japanese breakfast—it was not only delicious but also served with a strong sense of ritual, making each morning feel special and authentic. The most memorable feature, however, was the private garden. During this season, it was exceptionally serene and beautiful, like a living painting that invites you to immerse yourself in its peace. I highly recommend staying here for a unique and culturally rich experience."

I was very impressed by the peaceful atmosphere here. It felt like a peaceful, poolside experience, and every moment of our stay was relaxing. This hotel was very peaceful and welcoming. If you prefer quiet luxury, this is the place. Everything felt well-designed and quiet. It felt like a dream. Beautiful surroundings and a peaceful vibe allowed me to fully relax. "One of my favorite hotels ever ♨️ This has to be one of the most comfortable hotels I've ever stayed in 🥹 During my stay, there were so many thoughtful complimentary services: popsicles, Yakult, coffee, matcha, and even free shoyu ramen for a late-night snack (though I found it a bit hard to appreciate – just salty, but you could take it back to your room 😂). The public bath is truly massive and incredibly clean. The room even thoughtfully provides a small basket 🧺 specifically for hot springs, perfect for holding towels and personal items. Downstairs, you can pick up beautiful bathrobes to wear for photos after your dip, and there are also hotel casual clothes in the room. There are 4 private baths in total, and you rarely have to wait in the morning or late at night. They offer great privacy and an excellent experience. The room has a wonderful classic Japanese feel, and for a hotel in Japan, it's remarkably spacious. It felt a bit luxurious for just one person 😂, the space is genuinely large. My favorite part is that the shower and toilet are separate, which is incredibly convenient for family trips. Breakfast was also a real surprise, with an incredibly rich selection: sashimi, roasted pork, salmon, wagyu curry, and a wide variety of other dishes. I was so full after eating that it lasted until evening 🤣. All the staff were also very polite and enthusiastic. This time, I'm especially grateful to the staff for helping me book the bus to Kansai Airport, which saved me a lot of hassle. The price is indeed a bit high 😂, but overall, the experience felt truly worth it. Some hotels you might stay at and just move on, but this is the kind of place where, once you've stayed, you'll want to come back again. I stayed alone this time, but next time I definitely want to bring my sister back to fully enjoy the hot springs, breakfast, and the leisurely pace here. ♨️🧺❤️ I will definitely be back."

"Spectacular experience, really good service starting from a friendly welcome email by the team up until we checked out. Helped out with a wide range of tasks, from restaurant reservations to booking taxis. Incredible English-speaking staff, amazing in-hotel restaurant, and beautiful garden in the lobby. Tastefully decorated and large spacious rooms make it a must-try!"

"Service: This century-old establishment truly offers impeccable service – incredibly thoughtful and attentive. Every day, they'd even provide us with different, adorable yukata. Environment: Located right next to Togetsutei, it's incredibly convenient for walking to Arashiyama's attractions. However, the carpets in the Hekisenkaku section of the inn are worn out, which doesn't look very appealing. Hygiene: The cleanliness was absolutely spotless, no issues at all. Facilities: As a century-old inn, some of the common areas in Hekisenkaku are a bit old-fashioned. Especially the onsen, it really feels ancient and historic, just like those old inns you see in Japanese dramas."

"The hotel is very good, quiet, super clean! Rooms are spacious compared to other rooms we had in Japan, service is excellent and beds very comfortable. I totally recommend this place for staying in Kyoto! To reach hotel you need only 20 min by bus from Kyoto station, and bus stop is 1 min from hotel, which is very convenient. The only downside for us personally was that getting to most of the historical sites required taking public transport, whether by bus or subway. In Kyoto, buses are often extremely crowded, traffic can be heavy, and the waiting times can be quite long. Next time I visit Kyoto, I would probably rely more on taxis to avoid wasting too much time on public transportation."

"We checked in on October 3rd. On the morning of the 4th, my child found a live insect, which startled us. We reported it to the front desk and then went out to explore. When we returned to the hotel that evening, the manager cornered us in the lobby. He showed no remorse and arrogantly told us we could check out late until 12:00. Because we were tired, we didn't argue much and went straight to our room to rest. There was no apology or explanation whatsoever until we checked out the next day!"

"I took my elderly mother to my son, who will be the last in college. I stayed here looking for a quiet place to avoid the crowded city. There is also a parking lot where you can park your rental car, and when I asked you to park for several hours after checking out, I was able to put it comfortably. Unlike the hotel, there was also a tatami living room where you could stretch your legs slowly, so I was able to spend a very cozy time. There was a bath and floor heating, and it was warm and the bathtub was large and spacious from the time I entered. I would definitely like to use it if I have another chance."
