Overall, the hotel offers a pleasant stay with a convenient location close to many tourist attractions, making it easy to explore the area. The facilities and overall environment are satisfactory, contributing to a comfortable experience. However, there was a minor issue with cleanliness, as some stains were found on the bed. While this did not completely affect the stay, improving housekeeping standards would make the experience even better.

At first, the hotel appeared clean. However, when I was going to bed it appeared as if the sheets had not been cleaned. The way of the room was clean though. It's very noisy, you can hear other guests and water running. The cleaners were also making a lot of noise in the corridor from early in the morning. The location is great, with many restaurants and shops on the same street. No safe luggage storage though.

Great for a budget work-study day, but hygiene needs a serious upgrade
I checked into The Pod Boutique on a Thursday afternoon (3:30 PM) specifically to test out their ”business-friendly” reputation. While it serves as a decent, affordable alternative to a café for co-working, there are several pros and cons to consider before booking
The Work Experience (Co-working & Amenities)
The hostel offers a dedicated co-working space and private office booths
The Good: Plenty of power sockets under the tables, a water cooler, and free-flow coffee/tea. There’s a communal fridge and microwave (label your food!) if you want to bring your own snacks
The Not-so-Good: The co-working area has no air-conditioning. There are no non-caffeinated options (like Milo or Hot Chocolate) and no snacks provided.
The Office Booths: These are a bit dim and not soundproof, so they aren’t ideal for confidential or high-stakes calls.
The Bunk & Stay (Mixed Dorm)
As a solo female traveler, I felt safe here. There are cameras throughout the property, and the interior of the bunk itself was clean, comfortable, and smelled nice.
Inside the Pod: You get one power socket, a towel rack, a hook, and a small shelf
Privacy & Noise: The blind is quite translucent, offering little privacy. It isn’t soundproof, so expect noise during the early morning and late-night ”rush hours.”
The Catch: There is no mini-table inside the pod, so you can't work from your bed; it's strictly for resting
The Downsides
Cleanliness: This was the biggest issue. The toilet hallways are very dirty, yet guests are required to remove shoes before entering. Walking barefoot there was quite unpleasant
Facilities: There is only one lift (the stairs are faster/more reliable). The pantry is bare-bones (just sugar and stirrers), they charge for cutlery, and no breakfast is provided
Value: Honestly, this feels like a ”slightly nice” hostel rather than a ”Boutique” experience. I wouldn’t pay the standard $42–$50 rate for this quality. However, at the $22 discounted rate I got through Trip.com, it’s a fair trade-off for a quiet place to study
Summary: If you need a cheap place to crash and do some light laptop work, it’s okay—just bring your own slippers for the bathroom and don't expect a premium ”boutique” feel

Let's start with the location, as that's there the hotel advantage stands out the most.
Within walking distances, you'll find many local attractions and interesting yet cheap food choices.
We admit that the exterior does look worn down and due for a makeover. However, the hotel reception is welcoming and friendly. The room is clean and has everything you'll need for a good night stay. They upgraded my room to one with window and it's rather quiet despite of it all.
The hallway and lobby does look a little aged but the room is still very decent and tidy.
The breakfast is adequate and while seatings it's limited, they do offer outdoor seatings. We are thankful for how friendly the staffs are.

The room was clean and tidy, and the location was super convenient with a bus stop and a 7-Eleven right downstairs. Overall, it was a fantastic stay and offered great value for money at this price point.

We were going to store our luggage before checking in, but luckily the front desk staff Mr. Faddilli assisted us for an early check in. We were very happy for the early check in. The hotel location is superb and the lobby is very spacious. But there were not much amenities provided for a 4 star hotel. Overall we are satisfied.

The location is strategic closed to Bugis, Little India, and Kampong Glam areas. The hotel is relying on mobile phone self check in to opening of door lock. While it is good to be technologically advanced, this policy is discriminatory and excluded those without or less competent with smart phone such as the elderly, guests from other less advanced countries, etc. We have seen many instances of guests struggling for check-in. Even a short trip to the toilet or to kitchen, we need to carry a smart phone to open the room lock. And numerous times there would be problem to open the lock. A key card would be much convenient and practical. The room constantly has a mushy smell from the humidity of the aircon, even the dehumidifier offered no help and need constant emptying of the water 2 times a day for it to work.

First time staying in a capsule hotel. Initially didn't have much expectations abt the stay since it's only for 1 night. However, I was very surprised abt the overall experience. I had to say I am still quite satisfied abt this stay. No doubt there were still room for improvement.
Pro: 1) Excellent location, near Bugis MRT station exit D (Downtown line) Easy to go to Airport thru the East West line at Bugis MRT station. 2) Close to Bugis Junction, Bugis+, Bugis Street shopping area with lots of eateries too. 3) Easy and fast check-in and check-out at the hotel thru the self service kiosk. 4) Staff at the hotel was polite and helpful though may not always be at the counter. Tks for granting my request for a lower deck bed. 5) Not sure abt the other rooms, but luckily for me, the roommates in my room were all well behaved and disciplined, with no loud talking or disturbances. I did have a good sleep.
Cons: 1) The entrance to the hotel was quite messy with lots of shoes blocking the way. Probably not enough shoe racks. 2) The women's toilet was actually ok, not smelly as other reviews mentioned. Although the floor was always wet and rubbish bins were full and not cleared. 3) Personally I felt that the bed was a bit short in length. I'm 165cm and my legs are nearly touching the end of the bed. So it can be a bit uncomfortable for taller ladies. 4) Though the cleanliness of the bedsheets and pillow are acceptable for a budget hotel, I still discovered many tiny black dots on them. The only complain on cleanliness would be the curtain blind inside the cubicle. A lot of stains and dirt seen. I had to use wet wipes to clean them off. 5) The carpet look worn out and dirty too. Advisable to wear socks to walk ard the hotel since shoes are not allowed inside. To conclude, will still recommend this budget hotel for budget conscious travellers due to it's strategic location.

Great
GGuest UserThe Shangri-La Singapore boasts an excellent location, offering a serene and elegant environment with beautiful garden views. The check-in experience is relaxing and comfortable. The rooms are spacious, and the bedding is soft and skin-friendly, with a full range of toiletries provided. The overall service is attentive and thoughtful, with warm and polite staff. The breakfast selection is extensive. The only minor drawback is that some facilities are slightly older, but they are well-maintained and clean, which doesn't affect the stay at all. Overall, it offers good value for money, making it a great choice for a trip.
AAluodunyingfusuSummary: The room was spacious, as was the bathroom, wardrobe, and windows. It's incredibly convenient for getting around, with two malls downstairs (Ya Kun and others are practically on your doorstep) and bars. The subway station is also very close.
There's a capsule coffee machine and TWG tea bags.
The overall feel is quite classic, but it's a bit dated in places, like the hairdryer. It's one of those old-fashioned, long-bodied ones that makes your arm ache to use – I haven't seen one like that in years.
The toilet is also quite old. But that doesn't mean it doesn't work well.
Also, the hotel completely ignored my request for a high-floor room 😥😥😥
The service was very good. It happened to be Easter during Qingming Festival, and they even gave me a chocolate egg – a huge one! The flavor was really rich and pure; I even brought it back home with me.
It only takes 20 minutes to walk to Marina Bay Sands and Merlion Park.
Just as other reviewers said, it's a great value-for-money choice for travel.
🤦♀️ Sorry, I didn't take any photos of the hotel, only one of the Easter chocolate egg. The other two pictures are of nearby malls: one is called Millenia Walk, and the other is Suntec City.
GGuest UserI stayed at Lyf Funan Singapore for 2nights as a business traveller.
The design is fun and colorful, not your typical hotel vibe. The room is compact but works fine, with a private bathroom, and the sink is outside the bathroom which is actually quite convenient. I stayed in a standard room—it’s okay for couples or friends.
The hotel has more of a co-living feel. There’s a shared kitchen, dining area, and even a small workout corner, so it feels more social than a normal hotel.
Breakfast was a bitsimple with limited options, just a few simple dishes and some bakery items. I’d recommend skipping it and eating outside instead.
Location is definitely a big plus. It’s inside Funan Mall, super convenient for shopping and food. You can also easily walk to places like Fort Canning Park (right across the road), Clarke Quay, and Merlion Park.
Overall, nice stay if you like modern design and a lively vibe—just don’t expect too much from the breakfast.
GGuest UserThe hotel's location is excellent, with a shopping mall right downstairs and Lau Pa Sat nearby, making dining very convenient. The decor is modern, and there's even a small kitchenette. The best part is being able to go up to the 51st floor for amazing views of Singapore.
--chenchen-The hotel is quite new overall, and the location is super convenient. I only stayed one night for a city layover, so here are the pros and cons:
**Pros:**
1. It's very easy to get to all the attractions, many are within walking distance. It's also close to the City Hall MRT station, and popular internet-famous restaurants and coconut milk tea shops are nearby.
2. We checked in with our child, and the staff immediately gave us a little snack bag for the kids. While it's not a family-themed hotel, it made a better impression than some dedicated family hotels.
**Minor Cons (not dealbreakers):**
1. We were given an adjoining room, which made me feel quite insecure. I actually moved the coffee table to block the door before I could sleep.
2. The toilet paper in the bathroom was very sparse! And the toilet flush button was incredibly, incredibly hard to press – you needed a lot of force. We initially thought it was broken.
3. We'd just spent three nights in Sentosa where the minibar was fully stocked and complimentary every day. In contrast, this hotel, at a similar price point, had an empty fridge, which was a bit of a shock. It really hit home that 'it's hard to go from luxury to frugality.'
4. Perhaps it's because efficiency is so high back home, but checking into hotels in Singapore feels incredibly slow. My child kept asking when we would finally be done.
**Overall:** I'd still recommend this hotel for business travelers and tourists.
GGuest UserSurprised about hotel room upgrade from queen size bed to king size bed! Room was spacious enough to put several large luggages together on the floor. The amazing location juz opposite Takashimaya and Paragon and mosque@Orchard Road. The hotel staffs were all very friendly and approachable. Asian buffet style breakfast@Eden restaurant - normally can only find plain porridge but here surprisingly we found delicious fish porridge with no fishy smell! Thank you, Pullman hotel for excellent services.
SSheilaOSheilaRelaxing and thoroughly enjoyable.
Really good rooms with luscious pillows. The tub was heavenly. The pool was packed with kids but enjoyed my time there to sleep, think and do almost nothing. 3 nights.
My only 2 gripes : no smoking room that's enjoyable to be in, and that their coffee is average.
I'll definitely give this a 5 star rating for peace, comfort and joy at a decent price.
GGuest UserOriginally booked this hotel for shits and giggles coz of Anthropic Claude. This place is obsessively clean. I’m talking about the kind of clean that makes you suspicious — like maybe they have a team that just polishes doorknobs all day. Everything is spotless. Even the complimentary laundry room (which, yes, is FREE with detergent pods included) looks surgical. Zero lint. No detergent residue. No mysterious washing machine funk. Just pure, sparkling cleanliness. For someone as particular as me about hygiene, this was an unexpected jackpot. If I could give it 6 stars I would.
Location is solid: walking distance to Chinatown, Maxwell Hawker Centre, Keong Saik Road’s fancy food scene, and two MRT stations (Chinatown and Maxwell). The outdoor courtyard smells like fresh lemon balm disinfectant, which is oddly specific but very reassuring. There’s also a complimentary minibar, which feels generous for a compact room.
The double bed room I booked was small but accurately described during booking, so no gotcha moments. If you’re short like me, the bed’s perfectly comfortable. They’ve maximized storage cleverly: luggage space, safety box, mini fridge under the bed. The courtyard becomes your unofficial living room since the actual room is just… bed.
The Meh
The rain shower is a mystery. I still don’t know how to use it without turning the bathroom into a wading pool. The handheld showerhead has weak water pressure, though the bathroom itself is otherwise excellent. So clean!!! You can feel the MRT rumbling underneath (acceptable noise level), but the real problem is Leila, the bar downstairs. If you’re into nightlife, great! If you’re trying to sleep on the second floor, less great. I could hear thumping bar music until late. Front desk was gracious and delivered earplugs promptly when I asked, so points for responsiveness.
Walking around during rainy season would be a drag.
The Verdict
Would stay again for overnight layover purely for the cleanliness. Thanks for the random pick, Claude (both the AI and the hotel). 🧼✨🤖
AAnonymous UserThe room was clean and tidy, the bedding was comfortable, and the soundproofing was good. The front desk staff were enthusiastic and check-in was efficient. The location is convenient for getting around, and overall, it offers great value for money. My stay was very pleasant and I'd recommend it.
AAnonymous UserUgh, I forgot to take photos, so I'll use some random ones instead. First off, I chose this place because it's super close to Universal Studios, and I figured a chain hotel wouldn't be too bad. But the price wasn't exactly cheap – I paid over 480 for a queen room. I know hotels in Singapore are pricey, so this was within my expected budget; I'd already come to terms with the cost. The front desk staff were all really nice. However, my heart sank when I opened the door. The room was tiny, and they don't provide slippers, toothbrushes, or cups, citing environmental reasons... though if you ask the front desk for a toothbrush, they'll give you one. For cleanliness, I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5 – not terrible, but not outstanding either. It's a small room but has all the essentials, though you definitely can't fit two suitcases in there; it felt really cramped. On the bright side, the soundproofing seemed pretty good. I'm not sure if there were no other guests or if everyone was just incredibly considerate, but I didn't hear any noise. Plus, I was so exhausted from sleeping at the airport the night before that I slept like a log. It was the best night's sleep of my entire trip, and I was genuinely shocked that I slept best in the smallest room... Oh, and the shower gel and shampoo are all-in-one, so if you're particular, you might want to bring your own.
