"We arrived late, around 9 p.m., and Sophia at the front desk was warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. It was no surprise the next morning to learn she’s the Director of Sales—she embodies excellent hospitality. The hotel is new, and it shows. The lobby includes a large “Welcome to Oxnard” display featuring local attractions and seasonal events, which was a nice touch. However, the lobby lounge itself felt more industrial and cafeteria-like than cozy. There were no comfortable chairs where you could imagine relaxing with a glass of wine after a long day or spending time with family in the evening. It worked well enough for breakfast, though. Breakfast was fine overall. The standout was the delicious jalapeño baked soufflé, offered alongside scrambled eggs. The bread selection was basic—just English muffins and bagels—and I missed having toast and potatoes. I also would have preferred a glass coffee mug, but only to-go cups were available. The pool area looked inviting, and I appreciated the BBQ area with two grills and seating—perfect for a family dinner. The artwork near the elevators and throughout the hallways was also lovely and added a nice touch to the decor. Regarding EV charging, I was initially disappointed to see the front row of chargers occupied by cars that weren’t charging. But then I realized the hotel has many more—over 20 from what I counted—which is an excellent amenity. We stayed in a studio king suite, which was perfect: clean, bright, and thoughtfully designed. (Lack of good lighting is one of my common hotel complaints, so this was a welcome surprise!) The walk-in shower had a practical ledge for shaving, and the overall layout was functional and well maintained. The kitchen had basic supplies—including a wine opener—but could benefit from adding wine glasses. I also appreciated the inclusion of a small dustpan and brush. I would absolutely stay here again. Our room overlooked the Starbucks and Handel’s shopping area, and The Collection at RiverPark—a beautiful outdoor shopping and dining district—is just an 8–10 minute walk away. I highly recommend this hotel for both business and leisure travel and look forward to returning."
