Great hotel in the heart of Hakodate. Breakfast is the best I have had in Japan in terms of quality and variety. It was quite affordable with great services, amenities, and location at the heart of Hakodate. Rooms are sizable. Not too far from train, bus, and tram services.
Hotel staff even bothered to address and deal with a dying bird found outside their property that we saw and called the proper authorities.

Additionally, the room had a beautiful view, enhancing the overall experience. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a delightful stay.

Firstly, the hotel located next to the train station and not far from the morning market and main street which can find a lot of restaurants at night, there also some shops and restaurants at the ground floor of the hotel and convenient store.
Secondly, the hotel provides onsen but it’s a bit crowed because the customer of the fitness outside the hotel also can use the onsen.
Thirdly, the hotel looks very new and clean.

The hotel and service is fine. However, my overall experience is disappointing. First, staff could not communicate in English. Then, in the first room I checked in, I found a chunk of hair on the ceiling in the shower room. So, I go down to the front desk to complain; the staff changes me to the new room. When I came back to the hotel at 20.30. They already ran out of their free drink offer. The staff told me that after 20.00, they offer Y500 off from their drink. Again, I feel disappointed since they should tell me during the check in.

Staff in the restaurant are excellent. Speak good English and is very friendly and willing to help and serve at all times. We forgot the breakfast time ends at 9am and we only started 8.30am. The old lady in the restaurant kindly offered us to bring unfinished food back to our room to finish them. She even brought us tissue papers making sure we have everything we need.
The onsen is nice and in traditional Japanese style. We enjoyed our stay very much and will definitely come again.

Not sure whether it’s during long holidays, or it’s normal. But I expected much better service for this type of hotel. So I was so disappointed when I didn’t feel like it.
First, I carried a lot of stuffs. I asked for concierge, yes there was a luggage cart, but I need to carry all by myself up to my room, using a small and old with impaired wheels cart.
Second, full of tourists. Onsen was so full too. So I need to hurry took a bath, a few minute in the onsen, then go back to my room. Not relax at all.
Third, such a long queue breakfast. There were 2 types of breakfast for us to choose. Never seen like this before, but we need to get a queue, for 30-60 minutes waiting. If I knew that there was a queue for hotel breakfast, I would definitely went down to get the queue before packing my luggage. Who will know that it would be like this. It’s my really first time to wait for 1 hour to have breakfast.
Lastly, I was so tired and want the massage, so I booked one. Not sure whether it’s normal for Japanese style or not, but compared to Thai massage and Korean massage, I shouldn’t have paid for it . Too expensive but not help at all. I came back to my room to acupuncture myself instead.
Luckily that I stayed 2 hotels in Hakodate, so I moved to another hotel on the next day and feel much better.
Oh, a few things I like about this hotel.
1. The pictures along the way to another wing (during my walk to onsen). There were beautiful
2. A rental car place in front of hotel, during my waiting for breakfast queue, I walked there and found a good price car rental.

We stayed two nights, one room only and one with dinner and breakfast. Overall satisfactory experience 1) superb view of public onsen at top floor facing the sea 2) good buffet breakfast with nice seafood collection 3) very good dinner set (we upgrade from buffet which is the general option) 4) one of the newer onsen hotels in 湯之川 opened in 2017 only. Will recommend !

Facilities: The hotel doesn't feel old. We booked the hotel for the Japanese style, so of course we had to sleep on tatami. The water in the open-air hot spring bath was always flowing. I was so worried about wasting it. Hahaha. It felt very good to soak in the hot spring while listening to the sound of the waves at night. I also watched the sunrise at 6 o'clock in the morning. It was a quiet day. However, I didn't know until the year after next that it was a three-day holiday in Japan, so the room rate on weekends was a bit high. Hygiene: OK. Necessary facilities were clean. Environment: Very quiet. Facing the sea. There are hot spring hotels all around. You just have to take a taxi to get around. There is a small park nearby that you can visit. There is also the tropical botanical garden. There is no snow. We came out in five minutes to see the monkeys soaking in the hot spring. It's a pity that the ticket cost 300 yen per ticket. Service: Japanese service, standard. There is a small shop in the hotel. The prices are uniform. I saw someone holding White Lover's ice cream. It closed at 10 o'clock in the evening and didn't eat it. It was a pity. Also, you have to shake out 1/3 of the water in the open-air hot spring bath before soaking and add cold water to it, otherwise it will be too hot. Hahaha. The buffet dinner was added at the last minute. 3300 yen per person for all-you-can-eat snow crab legs. Very cost-effective

Amazing
GGuest UserVery satisfied. The most expensive hotel ever. It was the first time I received the traditional Japanese kneeling service. I was not used to it. The key point is that half of the staff are elderly, at least in their 50s. But their work quality is very high. I recommend their private snacks, which are delicious. The hot springs are also very good. You can make a free reservation for a private bath, or go to the public bath for free. When I went to the public bath, there was no one there, haha, I enjoyed the happiness of the private bath. I had breakfast and dinner at their house. The dazzling plates and dishes are very Japanese style. However, for my Chinese stomach, I am still not used to it. If you haven't tried it, you can try it.
HHappyaroundtheworldThis Japanese onsen hotel is new and clean. It’s a good choice of ours as both the hotel spring bath and the room are spacious and environment is quiet and decorated with taste. The breakfast was provided in super nice private rooms and the food was just too good. We highly recommend the hotel to you.
IIHFYSuper stay at this traditional onsen inn! It’s an easy 5 minutes walk from the tram stop and it is a peaceful and hospitable place to stay. We stayed for 2 nights with breakfast included (you have it in your room, the staff come to roll up your tatami 30 mins before - we just went to the onsen during this time) which was traditional Japanese style and delicious. The onsens are not too big but there are outdoor and indoor sections and perfectly adequate. The staff look after you warmly and we loved our experience of traditional Japanese culture here. Oh, and it’s near the Botanical Gardens where we saw monkeys bathing in the onsen.
DDean MauriceWe booked this hotel for a special stay for our Christmas Day abroad and it did not disappoint. The rooms are cozy, spacious and quiet with very comfy beds. We appreciated the entry way with the closet and shoe rack. We also appreciated the shower with great pressure, the large sink counter and the Japanese style toilet. There was also a good amount of toiletries provided. We had Japanese style pajamas, slippers for the room, sandals to go around the hotel in and even slippers specifically for the toilet area. The room has a large TV and you can connect to it with an HDMI cable or screencast but we could not figure out how to screencast. The hotel primarily caters to Japanese so the important stuff was in English but the little things like the remote control and temperature control were not.
We booked our stay with the buffet dinner and breakfast and for our stay it seems that all the greatest hits for Japanese cuisine were out. For dinner they had a steak grilling station, a BBQ scallop station, a sushi chef, crab dumplings and all kinds of accompaniments. For the dessert they had an array of tasty sweets but we enjoyed the macarons and Hokkaido ice cream the most. The breakfast was equally fantastic with a miso soup station, all kinds of sashimi, black pork dumplings, fried chicken and all kinds of crowd pleasers. There is a juice station and a coffee machine that makes all kinds of drinks so we were very pleased with the meals. We appreciated the plates and small dishes that allowed for small portions so we could pretty much try everything. Some items at the buffet did run out and these were specifically the small dishes - it is worth going early for breakfast and dinner because some items are not replenished and I found quite a few of these very delicious!
There isn't much around the hotel other than a 7-11 and a small botanical garden across the bridge but it is definitely a hotel meant to stay in and enjoy. We went to the onsen at night and in the morning and really enjoyed the outdoor bath which was sea facing. At night you could hear the waves and see the stars and during the day you could enjoy the beach and mountain view. The onsen baths have a variety of temperature pools and saunas and good bath products. There is a machine that dispenses a few pop flavours, cold tea and mineral water in the change room. There was a variety of self care products available in the change rooms as well like toothbrushes and razors.
Our room was very cozy after our bath and we found that the temperature for the hotel was possibly centrally controlled and not adjustable according to Google translation. It was set at a balmy 24 but we did figure out how to turn it off and got a comfortable night's rest. I wasn't a big fan of the hard toothbrushes that were provided mainly because the toothbrush used a coating rather than toothpaste which makes them truly single use.
The hotel offers quite a few amenities outside of the onsen area but the onsen was the highlight for us. They have a lounge area with lots of seats looking out to the sea near the front desk, a separate restaurant from the buffet restaurant, a souvenir shop that sells drinks too and luggage storage. We aren't sure if there are multiple floors with laundry machines but the one laundry room we did find only had one machine so this might not be a hotel to do your laundry at.
The hotel is easily accessible from both the train station and airport. From the train station you can take a bus or the tram which would take about 30 minutes and from the airport there are some dedicated busses that will take about 15 minutes. The bus station and tram station closest to the hotel is Yunokawa Onsen.
This was a great stay for us and we felt one night here was perfect. There is a lot to see in Hakodate and had we stayed longer we would have chosen a more economical option but this truly was a special treat for us.
WWanderlustingRoom was small but comfortable, loved the hot bath but it was a little too hot, breakfast is pretty decent too. Nothing much to do in Hakodate though.
AAnonymous UserThe location in Hakodate is very quiet. Parking is convenient. Someone will immediately greet you in the lobby. There is also Chinese service. The room is large and clean. The buffet for dinner is rich and unlimited supply of cantaloupe.
AAnonymous UserA small Japanese-style hotel, opposite the tropical botanical garden, the location is not facing the main street and is very quiet. Although the room is old, it is clean and comfortable. The hot spring is good, and the ingredient list shows that it is 100% natural hot spring. Because there are few people, about 5 or so, the service quality is very high. I knocked over my plate in the restaurant, and the staff quickly brought me a towel and a clean bathrobe. I was really touched. Breakfast is very average, but there are no shops around to solve the problem. There is free sparkling wine coffee and milk ice cream from afternoon to evening.
GGuest UserTransportation: 8 minutes from the airport, half an hour from JR, the station is right at the door, there is no shuttle bus, but they will come out to take the luggage and send it to the room.
Room: The room is not big, the scenery is very good, although the weather was bad on the day I stayed there, but it was generally good. There are snacks and tea and beer in the refrigerator, and someone will come to make the bed at night. It’s just that the private bath has to be pressed all the time to get hot water, and the wind is very strong, and the curtain will blow away as soon as it is put down.
Food: Booked one night and two meals, but the buffet was not particularly good, a little deduction, and there were no drinks for dinner! You can only buy it yourself! When I went there, the lounge was under maintenance, but the staff provided me with a vacant place and sent me drinks, thumbs up 👍.
Public bath: Open 23 hours, 3-4 am is the cleaning time, there is a semi-outdoor hot spring on the 4th floor, and a sea view hot spring on the 7th floor. The male and female baths of the two hot springs will be exchanged, everyone remember to pay attention to the time.
The only difference between Huayue and Chaosaotei is the scenery. The rest of the dining and bathing options are in the same area, so you can choose by yourself.
JJunghwanThe hotel is an hour away from Hakodate station. It is an old styled hotel but well kept. Their bath is superb and we enjoyed using it. The receptionists didn’t speak English and they had instructions in English instead.
They don’t provide any water. You need to purchase them for 100yen each. I asked for Japanese room but they gave me beds instead.
I had pleasant stay and would consider visiting again
エエゾシカ伝道師The staff at the inn were warm and moderate, and I was very comfortable.
While there were many non-smoking rooms, the companion who was a smoker was very happy.
In addition, the correspondence of the odor remaining in the room is also firm, and I think it can be comfortable.
It's a hot spring, but you can get the power of the source.
It is a hot spring of great satisfaction!
