Kick Ass Greyfriars is absolutely spotless one of the cleanest hostels I’ve stayed in! I felt completely safe throughout my stay. The bathrooms were well-kept and fresh, and the reception desk staff were so nice and welcoming. Would definitely recommend! Solo or with friends & family book without doubt. .

I visited at the end of March, and Edinburgh was still quite cold, especially with the strong winds. The hostel's location is excellent, right by the church on the Royal Mile, making it easy to walk to all the other famous attractions. The room was very clean, and even though I booked a mixed dorm, I was kindly placed in an all-female room. The bed was clean, with a USB charging port, a privacy curtain, a lockable locker, and a shoe cabinet. The communal bathrooms and toilets were spacious, with each shower stall having a separate wet and dry area, plus a hairdryer. I highly recommend having breakfast at the hostel; the waffle I ordered was huge, and guests get a discount. Overall, it was a fantastic experience!

I just wanted to follow up regarding the situation we encountered when we arrived. We had booked three double rooms for two nights so that our group could stay together. Unfortunately, we were informed at check-in that one of the rooms had no electricity and couldn’t be used, and one of our friends had to be moved to a different hotel. We completely understand that unexpected issues can sometimes happen. However, since we specifically booked three rooms in the same hotel so our group could stay together, having one of us placed somewhere else has been quite inconvenient for us and has made it more difficult to coordinate our plans during the trip. In addition, the hotel that was arranged for our friend was unfortunately of a much lower standard than the one we originally booked. This was quite surprising for us, especially since we had chosen and paid for your hotel expecting a certain level of comfort and experience for everyone in our group. While we appreciate that your staff tried to find a solution at the time, the overall arrangement has left us feeling rather disappointed with the situation. We hope you can understand why this has been frustrating for our group, and we would really appreciate it if you could let us know whether there is anything that can be done to help make up for the inconvenience caused. The room was nice, and they even let me check in half an hour early, which was great. My only complaint is that construction vehicles started arriving and working outside my window at 7:05 AM. I don't understand why! In China, construction usually doesn't start until after 8 AM. Don't people in Edinburgh mind this much noise?

The hotel is very comfortable and comfortable, and it is very convenient because it is super in the centre.

We had a pleasant stay at the hotel overall. The location is a bit far from the main tourist attractions, but it was still manageable and didn’t significantly affect our trip. The room was comfortable and clean, and we appreciated the overall atmosphere. However, we did notice a few areas for improvement. One thing that stood out was the placement of the power outlets, which were quite far from the bed. It made charging our phones a bit inconvenient, as we had to sit at the table while waiting, especially when uploading photos and sharing our experiences. Despite these small inconveniences, we still enjoyed our stay. With a few minor improvements to the room amenities, the experience could be even better.

I had a generally positive experience during my stay. The room was spacious and tidy, and housekeeping did a great job maintaining it daily. The staff were welcoming and professional, which made check-in and check-out smooth

KM apartments are in a good location and very secure.  The room has a small kitchenette also which is handy as is access to a laundry room.  The main downside is that the bed is quite small for two people - it’s not much bigger than a King Single size.  Overall though it was a good stay.☺️

The hotel is almost directly opposite Edinburgh's famous medieval architecture landmark, making its location incredibly convenient. Compared to the hotel I stayed at in Edinburgh for the first few days of my trip, this place's location, location, location is truly prime real estate. Photos of the staircase and hallway decor can be seen in previous Trip.com reviews; the ambiance is good, but in person, I found that they were just printed versions, which felt a bit rough and not quite like the moving staircases from Harry Potter. Also, there wasn't an enthusiastic staff member to explain things to us. When I asked, they simply said, 'They're all famous historical figures from Edinburgh, you probably won't recognize them, and I don't know all of them either...' Fine, but it was a bit of a missed opportunity. The main part of the room I stayed in had an elevator, but there was still a small flight of stairs, as shown in picture 4. This is typical for historic buildings; even the castle hotels I've stayed in before were like this, so I can accept it. The room itself was still a bit small. The card on the desk mentioned the hotel group's strict cleanliness standards and offered re-cleaning if unsatisfied. During my stay in the UK, one thing I really dislike about hotel shower designs is the consistent half-glass partition. Even 2/3 would be better! It made me have to shower very carefully to avoid flooding the bathroom. I don't know where that design concept came from. The complimentary biscuits, crisps, coffee and tea bags, and glass bottled water were all of decent quality, fitting the hotel's class. I found the hotel staff to be quite pleasant, and the hotel's buffet breakfast plus a-la-carte options were all standard and satisfactory. If I get the chance to visit Edinburgh again, this hotel is definitely worth considering for a return stay!
