Must-Stay: Mandarin Oriental Barcelona 🏦 – The Real-Life Spanish 'Money Heist' Bank!
🏨 Located on Barcelona's famous Passeig de Gràcia, this hotel is right next to Gaudí's stunning Casa Batlló with its magnificent facade. Housed in an elegant mid-20th-century building, it was re-imagined by Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola, boasting a thoroughly modern interior that still retains the distinctive Mandarin Oriental charm.
.🏦 Formerly a bank, it incorporates many elements from its past. For instance, a wall in the Banker's Bar was once part of the bank, serving as a safe deposit box area. Even more unique, their menus are presented in metal boxes like banknotes, giving it a real 'Money Heist' vibe, Barcelona style!
It also doubles as a lounge for early arrivals, where you can even enjoy breakfast if it's already open.
Because it was once a bank, all rooms offer a sense of security, privacy, and tranquility. Even facing the street, it becomes incredibly quiet after dark.
The restaurant, lounge, and bar are all contemporary spaces, reflecting the city's artistic spirit and attitude.
An absolutely superb check-in experience and service quality.

Overall, my stay was quite good. The hotel is located right next to the Glorious Tower, and I had a view of it from my room every day. There's a bar and restaurant on the ground floor, and as soon as you step into the hotel, you can feel that designer vibe. I particularly loved their wall lamps – straight into my shopping cart!
Two tips to keep in mind:
1. The front desk will ask if you want daily room cleaning, which is complimentary.
2. They require a deposit of 50 euros per room per night. This is refundable upon check-out (mine was refunded instantly). This deposit can also be used to cover the 'city tax' – they won't charge the city tax separately at check-in, but rather deduct it from your deposit at check-out.
The room itself was spacious, with enough space to fully open two 27-inch suitcases. The bathroom had small tiles, giving it a very modern Spanish feel. I also fell in love with the glass cups in the room – they're a Belgian brand, and yep, added to my cart again! The bed was large and very comfortable.
If you want your towels changed daily, remember to toss them on the floor; if you hang them up, they won't be replaced.
The hotel's surroundings are lively and convenient, with shopping malls, supermarkets, and plenty of shopping options. You can easily reach 'Gaudi's Three Masterpieces' by taking a bus from nearby, which gets you there in about half an hour.

I stayed for two days this time, because there was no hot water in the bath last time, the hotel changed my room, I was very happy, but the problem still exists:
On the night of the stay, there was no water. My husband shouted halfway through the bath. There was no water and the water was stopped. Later, he had to put the shower head in a very low position to barely come out of a small water. The water pressure is extremely unstable. I called the front desk, the phone was not connected, there was no way to go downstairs to find the front desk, there was no one at the front desk, I shouted for two minutes in the whole building, anyone? Very loud voice, I was very scared at the time, I felt that a hotel, how can the service be so poor, 8,000 nights are not cheap, but how can there not even a waiter? 2 minutes later, when I gave up going upstairs, I walked out the waiter that night.
I questioned Trip.com this hotel is the first luxury hotel. I think it is not even a hotel, at best it is a homestay.
Two other minor problems, the dining table in the room I lived in had a large crack, and the door in the other room could not be opened and closed.

The location is convenient, with supermarkets, restaurants, fruit and vegetable stores, self-service laundromats, etc. nearby. It is a relatively safe area.
The only drawback was that there was a problem with the door lock when I checked in. It did not lock automatically when I closed the door, but the counter staff thought that the tenant did not know how to use it. The next day, it still could not be locked successfully. After several communications, they were willing to assist in reporting the problem.

Great location, downside is limited rooftop beds so arrive early if you plan to take advantage of the sun! The hotel porter was really helpful and advised that a local taxi would be quicker and cheaper than an UBER however it ended up being double the price, so I would recommend double checking before departure.
