"I booked late and was on a budget, so the single room was tiny – just barely enough space.
**Facilities:** Compared to hotels in China, it's definitely modest. The mattress quality was pretty subpar, the shower stall was so small I couldn't even extend my elbows, and there weren't many outlets. The disposable toiletries were also a bit scarce. However, the bidet, which is standard in Europe, was actually quite practical.
**Cleanliness:** The cleanliness was significantly better than hotels of a similar facility level back in China. It was thoroughly cleaned, and the linens were spotless.
**Service:** Competent and efficient. Don't mind the stern-faced front desk staff; it doesn't affect their helpful service and clear explanations. I imagine language barriers might add some stress for them.
**Location:** It's in the old town, about 2-3 blocks from the M1/M2 metro lines, a 7-10 minute walk. There's a small convenience store nearby and a Carrefour supermarket two blocks away, which is genuinely inexpensive by Shanghai standards.
**Breakfast:** The bread selection was a bit limited. They had ham, salad, cheese, and coffee, but no live egg station. Those with a 'Chinese stomach' might find it a bit challenging.
**Overall Impression:** The location is decent, and the deciduous tree-lined streets in the neighborhood are quite picturesque. The interior decor and layout are more traditional European. The facilities can't compare to four- or five-star hotels in China, and there's no gym. Overall, it's sufficient for a business trip or a travel stopover. The price is lower compared to other hotels in the vicinity, so there's really not much to complain about."
