"The B&B is close to the North Gate, so it was pretty easy to find. The owner even picked me up from Pingyao Ancient City Station late at night, which I really appreciated – it made my travel experience so much better. They carefully explained the locations of attractions and gave me a map. When I left, they even gave me some vinegar as a gift; they're incredibly warm and welcoming. Seriously, if you're coming to Pingyao, you should definitely stay here, haha! It's safe, clean, and the facilities are all there. For longer stays, they even proactively clean your room. The decor has a local flair too – who wouldn't want to try sleeping on a traditional heated 'kang' bed without any fuss? Thanks for everything, I'll definitely stay here again next time. Loved it, loved it!"

"Cosy historical building done up very nicely. Room was well renovated, owner super friendly and very accommodating, we asked for more water, toilet paper, different type of breakfast etc all happy to oblige. 10 minutes walk to light show, 10m walk to center of ancient city where most of the historical sites were. 10m walk to outside where the best food is..DO NOT eat inside the old city, food outside much better. Owner also arranged for car to take us to Wang Family compound and Shuanglian temple at much better price than I could find anywhere online. and private transfer to/from train station as well. Very happy I booked to stay at this location. Breakfast was EXCELLENT"

"The B&B has an excellent location, right within the pedestrian street. Food, drinks, and entertainment are all nearby, which is very convenient. The front is a storefront, and the back is a courtyard with a beautifully decorated night view. The room isn't huge, but there's an umbrella outside with three chairs and a table, perfect for eating or chatting. The small courtyard is enclosed, so even though it's on the first floor, you don't feel a lack of privacy. Everything is well-equipped, and the service attitude is great. The only downside was the smell of smoke. It got much better after opening the doors and windows to air it out, but it returned after closing them at night. Since we checked in at 11 PM, we didn't bother contacting the front desk. I hope they can improve this. They kindly gave us some local specialty vinegar and pastries, which was a nice touch. Due to time constraints, we didn't get to try on the ancient costumes, but we plan to come back and do it next time. Parking for cars is outside the city gate and costs 20 yuan for the night. Electric vehicle charging is a bit far away, so plan ahead for that. The guided tour and electric cart ride cost 120 yuan, which I honestly think is completely unnecessary – consider this a heads-up to avoid that expense! Pingyao Ancient City is definitely worth experiencing, and this B&B is also highly recommended."

"We have been traveling by car for more than a month. I have booked many rooms, and I will take the time to consider the rooms with good quality, comfortable prices and relatively acceptable or preferential prices when booking! This Tianxinyuan Inn is in the scenic area, and it takes seven or eight minutes to walk to the main street. The room is antique and the bedding is clean and comfortable! The point is that the boss is really hospitable. He sang cheerful songs to pick up and drop off guests all the way, making our trip full of joy. After arriving at the store, he enthusiastically answered all our questions and answers! Help us plan a reasonable Pingyao travel plan according to our time! The next day, a delicious breakfast was delivered according to the travel time of the guests! Along the way, this is the homestay I want to talk about most seriously! I won’t say anything, it’s really from the bottom of my heart! In addition, the boss recommended the restaurant dishes less than 100 meters away from the store, which is really delicious! It is the most delicious meal I have eaten recently! Recommended, must recommend!! There is also his red date vinegar. Drinking a sip is really refreshing and appetizing for us who are tired from driving for a long time!"

"This summer, I traveled to Shanxi with my parents and children, and of course, we couldn't miss Pingyao Ancient City, a place teeming with rich cultural heritage. After extensively searching and comparing many places online, I discovered Aishang Lvke Inn had fantastic reviews and was very reasonably priced. What truly convinced me was that so many people raved about the steamed buns made by the lady there – we simply had to try them! So, I booked two rooms. Its central location within the ancient city made it incredibly convenient for visiting all the attractions. The owner was incredibly welcoming and enthusiastic. He personally picked us up from the station and eagerly shared his recommendations for the best food and fun activities in the ancient city. When it was time to leave, the owner was busy picking up other guests, so his father kindly drove us to the station. "If you want to experience a unique, traditional stay, this is your hotel. The Kang bed is very comfortable and spacious to sleep on, and the bathroom is completely renovated and modern. The hotel's inner courtyard is stunning; it transports you back to ancient times, and the people who work there are wonderful and very hospitable. We were encouraged to have a photo session with them while wearing their traditional costumes, and it was the best experience of the entire trip—recommended 200%. Even though it's a traditional village, the hotel makes a great effort to speak your language and understand you. I would return without hesitation."

Additional perks include free laundry and free transport to the train station. As a drawback, the wifi connection didn't work well for me. To sum up excellent value for money."

Facilities: Brand new and easy to use, the kang and bedding are comfortable to live in
Environment: Comfortable and quiet, there are also swings, which children especially like. Although it's not on South Street, it's not far from the attractions. The ancient city is full of small alleys, so it's quick to get dressed.
Service: Warm and enthusiastic, free pick-up from the high-speed rail station. In order for passengers to travel with luggage without burden, they also sent my luggage to me for free in the scenic area."

GGuest UserWe had the best stay at Elswhwere Hotel West Gate. The building is restored it the nicest way really gives you the feeling of timetravel. The people working in the hotel, were carrying and welcoming. They explained us how to navigate the city, helped us buy tickets for the city sights, recommend restaurants and we even got a room upgrade and lovely gifts to take home and remember our time in Pingyao.
The bed was so comfortable and we had the best sleep. Can recommend this hotel full heartedly. Would definitely come back! Thank you Helen and Fenny for making our stay so memorable.

JJiebudiaodejimoThe location is great, nestled between Yingxun Gate (South Gate) and Shangxi Gate, making it convenient for sightseeing yet surprisingly quiet. The facilities are good, but what really impressed me was picture #2 [assuming this refers to a specific feature/amenity shown in a picture]. I hope they can plug in the outlets before guests check in. The buckwheat pillow was very comfortable! The service was excellent; they communicated in advance about pickup/drop-off and even offered to drive me to attractions. Breakfast was abundant, featuring local specialties like Pingyao beef. It was well-balanced and tasty. The menu changed over the two days, though for me, there was a bit too much meat. If a full buffet isn't feasible, perhaps offering an à la carte menu where guests can choose their items would help reduce waste. And the cats at the hotel are adorable!

TTigerThe hotel staff provide outstanding customer service, and I especially want to highlight Ana — she is amazing. The hotel itself is beautiful, but my room felt old and was not as clean as it should have been. I was also very disappointed that a western breakfast was not provided. Since I was the only guest in the room, it would only require one portion, and I believe a western breakfast should be included free of charge. I hope the hotel can improve in these areas to better match the excellent service of the staff.

GGuest UserWe stayed at thos lovely hotel. Lovingly restored by the current owner Mr Wang. He is the 6th generation owner of the property.
Until 10 years ago it was a derelict and dilapidated building. He poured money, time, blood, sweat and tears to restore it
And it does feel and look like a traditional house.
You feel you are going back in time.
Firstly the customer service is way beyond the call of duty. Its so good, i would recommend staying with mr Wang at whatever hotel he runs.
He picked us at the Lower East Gate, and brought us to the hotel, then took nearly half an hour to explain in great detail where we need to visit, whether the sights be in the city or outside the city.
Some of his suggestions, not on the tour books were very good . For example he suggested 3 restaurants, and we avoided them thinking he was getting a kickback.on our 4th and last day we tried restaurant no 2 of his. And it was good , the food and service were good. The prices were average with other restaurants and we got a 10% discount being the hotel's guests. And remember we had eaten 10 meals by the time we came to his suggestions.
Another suggestion of Mr Wang was Ma family home - also a very good tip from him.
Everytime we had a request or question he always responded with enthusiasm.
On our last day we checked out at 4am and he still took us to the pick up point at that ungodly hour.
Yep Mr and Mrs Wang's customer service is just first class.
The room was large, queen deluxe double, and the furnishings were traditional chinese furniture made of Rosewood. Very Expensive furniture for a hotel room. Shower worked well and was hot. However be aware its chinese style wet floor system ie there is no shower curtain between the shower and a small part of the bathroom does get wet if youare not careful. MR Wang said it will be one his improvement on his priority list. Hopefully by the time you booked the problem will have been resolved

The city of pingyao is worth visiting, it is one of the very walled cities left in China, with its old buildings intact and people still living it. All the city walls are also intact. Magnificent at night.

I went with my family for New Year's, and the welcome gifts were a thoughtful touch. The courtyard at night is beautiful, exactly as pictured. Our room was very warm with underfloor heating, and it was clean and hygienic. The in-house travel photography service was very professional; the makeup and styling were exquisite, and the photographer was excellent. It added so many wonderful memories to our trip.

Only two bottles of mineral water were provided per day, so if you're a tea drinker, you might want to bring extra water with you. When I made the reservation, it stated that a bottle of vinegar would be offered as a complimentary gift. However, upon checkout, it wasn't automatically given, and you had to specifically ask for it. Even then, for a two-day stay, we only received one bottle.

GGuest UserThe hotel reception staff, both the young men and women, were incredibly nice. From the moment I booked and added them on WeChat, they patiently guided me to the parking lot and explained the shuttle service. The attentive service upon arrival was truly impeccable. I stayed for three days, and no matter when I saw them, they always greeted me warmly. They were prompt and patient in resolving any issues. The overall environment is beautiful and boasts an antique charm. P.S. Perhaps because it's so beautiful, there were travel photographers non-stop from morning till night, which slightly affected my rest.

PPanPivoI must highly recommend this wonderful hotel in the historic centre of Pingyao. The hotel is really authentic, well equipped, the room was beautiful and I didn't miss anything during my stay. The owner is very nice and helpful, he was able to help me with everything. The front desk is guarded by a small, beautiful dog who gives you a proper greeting. Everything is a short walk from the hotel yet it is in a quiet area where you won't be disturbed. Not choosing this hotel for my stay would be a big mistake. Thank you very much

Tento nádherný hotel v historickém centru města Pingyao musím vřele doporučit. Hotel je opravdu autentický, dobře vybavený, pokoj byl krásný a během pobytu mi nic nechybělo. Majitel je velmi milý a ochotný, se vším mi dokázal pomoci. Recepci hlídá malý, krásný pejsek, který vás náležitě přivítá. Vše je kousek od hotelu a přitom je v klidné oblasti, kde vás nebude nikdo rušit. Nevybrat si tento hotel pro svůj pobyt by byla velká chyba. Moc děkuji

It is very close to the Rishengchang Bank and the county government. The boss is very enthusiastic and the service is very good. I will give you a tip in advance. They introduced the ancient city travel suggestions in detail and arranged an ancient city guide for us to have an in-depth understanding of Pingyao’s historical and cultural heritage.
