manchester to newcastleHelpful friendly staff at reception
Good location.
The bathroom in my room had an unpleasant odour, smell, possibly the pipes from the toilets, was clean but the smell was very unpleasant. Bathroom needs ripping out & updating & new pipes for toilet. Not good for light sleepers like myself - can hear drunks outside & people outside at night. The train going past on the bridge is a lil noisy & the guests in other room made noise. Comfy bed & nice sized room & view. Hard working housekeepers who do an EXCELLENT job 💫💫💫 Good value for money.

Anonymous UserAn amazing stay at Hampton by Hilton Newcastle! The location is unbeatable—just 2-minute walk from Newcastle Central Station, and only 10 minutes to Quayside and St. James’ Park, super convenient for travel and sightseeing.
The free hot breakfast was fantastic, with fresh waffles, classic English breakfast and even porridge, perfect for all tastes. The room was clean, quiet and cozy, with a comfy bed, ergonomic work desk and free high-speed WiFi, ideal for both leisure and business trips.
24-hour front desk offered great service with luggage storage, and the 24-hour gym with Peloton bikes was a nice bonus.

Posted on Sep 25, 2025|Junior King Suite With Sofa Bed And Kitchen
The mighty BantamWe had booked a junior suite. On arrival we were greeted warmly and efficiently checked in. We were given our key and told we were in room 118. We were told that we had to go up one floor in the lift and then backdown the stairs as our room was in between floors. It was the only room at that level. Had I have known that I wouldn’t have booked it as I was travelling with my mum who is post surgery with a new hip, and stairs and luggage were a bit of a challenge. Anyway, once inside our suite was perfect. It consisted of a living/dining/kitchen room with a sofa, TV and pretty much a full kitchen, I.e Hob, fridge with an ice box, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. The bedroom was made to feel a little small as the bed was absolutely huge, it also had a TV in there too. The bathroom was quite standard but spotlessly clean. The only gripe I had was there was only one electric heater and that was in the bedroom, so if you were cold I had to go into the bedroom. Would I stay there again…..yes but perhaps in a room that didn’t need to climb stairs.

Guest UserCentral to inner city life- theatre, quayside, bars. Location excellent if you’re not a keen walker. Very quiet inside considering location to bars and nightlife- good insulation in rooms. Comfy bed. Pleasant staff. Totally no frills but perfect for sleeping. For its type - I thought it was very good

Guest UserThe location is excellent, directly opposite Newcastle train station. The day before, I stayed at the Hampton next door. The price increased significantly the next day, so I moved to this one, which had a stable price. However, it was really bad, and I advise my fellow countrymen to be cautious about staying here.
The room itself matched the merchant's photos. The bathroom was generally spacious, but there was a significant waste of space. It shouldn't have been designed like this after a renovation. I've never seen such a ridiculously designed sink; the faucet is too close to the basin, so simply washing your hands causes water to spill all over the floor. There's also no floor drain in the bathroom, so we had to cover the entire floor with towels.
Also, a £50 deposit is required upon check-in, authorized via credit card. Other hotels usually release it immediately upon checkout. I specifically asked when checking out, and they said it would take 'a few days.' I don't understand why. I waited a week and it still wasn't refunded. After Ctrip customer service intervened, it was immediately refunded. Truly outrageous.
Personally, I think as long as the Hampton by Hilton next door isn't more than 50% more expensive, I'd still recommend staying at the Hampton. It has better facilities, includes breakfast, and the service is better. Don't come here to be annoyed.

Guest UserMyself and my partner stayed at this hotel for 3 days. When I booked it, I never realised it had one part at one side and the other part across the street. If you book your standard rooms your hotel is across the road. The standard double room was 'cosy'. There wasnt a great deal of space but we were out the majority of the time so it was fine just for a place to sleep. The location is good, definitely a student area and the hotel offer earbuds for the noise. We stayed through the week and being honest we didnt find it that loud and most places were closed and quiet for no later than midnight. I do imagine it would be very different staying at the weekend. We used west Jesmond metro to get to and from the city centre, the hotel is about a 8 minute walk from the metro, the are very frequent also, so all in I think it took no more than 15 mins to get right into the city centre. So the room in general was ok, our room had a bit of a smell coming from the drains, which wasnt very nice so we had to buy a spray for the room. The main issue with the room and the hotel is the heat!! It has just been 28 degrees in newcastle and outside was cooler than the room. We bought chocolate and it melted in a cupboard. They do give you a fan but being honest, it did nothing. The window was also small so no air really got in from that either. It made for a few uncomfortable nights sleep! Overall the cleanliness was ok but just far to warm.

The room was in the top floor and felt quiet. It’s very convenient to have the bar and restaurant just downstairs. I didn’t try the food but it was looking nice. The WiFi was good and the facilities in the room were great too with free tea and coffee. The bed could be improved but it was okay for a night. The room has in suite bathroom.

I recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately, my experience was not very comfortable.
The air conditioning in the room was completely ineffective and did not cool the space at all. Although the room was equipped with a small fan, it was nowhere near sufficient for two people, especially during a heatwave.
The bathroom extractor fan was also not working, which meant that after taking a shower, the room became even hotter and more humid. As the window could not be opened, there was no way to get fresh air or any ventilation. We ended up spending a very uncomfortable and restless night due to the excessive heat.
The hotel’s location is not particularly central, but it is reasonably close to the city centre. One positive aspect is that it offers free parking and breakfast, which is definitely appreciated.
Overall, if the air conditioning were properly repaired, I would be happy to consider staying here again in the future.
