The hotel boasts multiple natural hot springs with a rich variety of baths and breathtaking scenery; soaking in them left me feeling completely refreshed. The rooms are spacious and elegant, with stylish Japanese decor that ensures privacy. The dinner buffet was exquisite, featuring fresh and delicious ingredients. The staff were warm and attentive, always greeting guests with a smile. Its convenient location also offers easy access to transportation. Both the facilities and service truly reflect the high quality of Japanese onsen hotels. Highly recommended!"

"The hotel was located a bit further out from the main attractions. However, with that its also at a quieter area and nice break away from the touristy area. Because of the location, it is also convenient to get to the Gotemba outlet mall. There’s a mountain view outside the balcony. A convenience store and bus stop just right outside the hotel. We felt the breakfast served was underwhelming, and the same food was served on the 2 days we were there. The hotel was spacious and really clean, interior design was beautiful. The hotspring was really nice as well. The staff recommended the Izakaya restaurant called Monta, just few minutes walk from the hotel. The food was really good and open till 12am!"

"This hotel is right next to Lake Ashi, just a few minutes' walk from the shore. Outside the lobby, there's a hot spring foot bath where you can relax your body and mind after a day of sightseeing. The rooms are clean and tidy, and the bedding is soft and comfortable. There's also a small shop in the lobby selling Hakone specialties. Both the dinner and breakfast buffets offer a wide variety of dishes; I particularly enjoyed a certain grilled fish, and the desserts were plentiful – it was a feast for both the eyes and the palate! I hope to visit again. The hotel is very close to Togendai Ropeway Station and the Togendai Pirate Ship pier, just about a 7-8 minute walk from the back exit, making it very convenient for transportation."

"Hakone Hotel Kowakien, a natural onsen hotel offering dinner and breakfast that I'd rate 90 out of 100. It's not easy to impress me in Hakone, the famed hot spring town in Kanagawa Prefecture, but this hotel truly excelled across all criteria, showing a consistently high standard. Both the front desk and restaurant staff were attractive, with fluent English and standard accents; notably, they didn't employ any Southeast Asian staff. The hotel facilities are relatively new and well-designed, and the cleanliness is exceptional. The public areas offer plenty of sofa seating, and the temperature control is precise, allowing guests to comfortably wander around in traditional yukata without feeling cold. The air is fresh with no strong artificial scents, embodying a 'Natural and Pure' concept. The restaurant, named Fontainebleau, lives up to its name with authentic French pastries. The 'all-you-can-eat' style still maintains high-quality ingredients, and there's an unlimited supply of Sapporo Asahi draft beer and Gekkeikan sake. What's more, the self-service alcohol bar is also open during breakfast, which seems quite common for Japanese guests – their physical resilience certainly differs from ours! Observing Japanese dining concepts, you'll notice several characteristics: a wide variety of dishes, comprehensive nutrition, low-temperature preservation, minimal oil and seasoning, and avoiding high-temperature cooking to prevent nutrient loss. The sauna is also quite professional, featuring a 12-minute sand timer, anti-scald mats, humidity and temperature displays, and powerful heating elements that ensure you won't waste any time. Whether you prefer mountain views, garden vistas, or indoor hot springs, there's an option for everyone. "The hotel has great location and it’s very new and spacious. We stayed on the day of fireworks and we can see the fireworks closely in the balcony. However, there is no front reception and no luggage storage before and after check in."

"I stayed there with my boyfriend and it was very nice. When I first looked at the images, I thought the bathroom was made of glass...? That's what I thought, but I was able to hide it with the curtains so it didn't bother me. It was comfortable, not too big and not too small. I really liked the smell of the amenity set."

"We had a great stay at Hotel Indigo Hakone. Our room had a beautiful river view and a private onsen, a real highlight. The restaurant was excellent (though a bit on the expensive side), and the overall facilities were top-notch. The location is convenient if you plan to explore the area using public transport, since it’s close to Gora Station. However, if you’re into hiking like us, it can feel a little isolated. One disappointment was the price of coffee at the hotel, which felt unnecessarily high. On a positive note, right across the street there’s an amazing sushi restaurant that we highly recommend."

"The hotel is large, the view is stunning, and the rooms are spacious. The window opens to the lake. In the mornings, I could see a pirate ship sailing by the door. I could also see the hotel from the pirate ship. It was a shame the weather was bad."

"Had a great stay at Hotel Suiun in Hakone! It was my first time staying in a ryokan, and the experience was amazing. The dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the onsen was super relaxing. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Really enjoyed everything here — would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Hakone!"

"This was the best hotel experience I've ever had! While the price isn't cheap, the experience was incredibly worthwhile. It's also worth noting that the hotel's location is quite secluded, making it ideal for those traveling by car. Environment: The guest rooms are beautifully designed, and the small courtyard has a Zen-like feel. Whether soaking in the hot springs indoors or outdoors, the views are truly elegant and pleasant. The rooms are also incredibly spacious! Both the room and the courtyard are photogenic, but unfortunately, my schedule was tight and I didn't have time to take any good photos. The hotel is located at the foot of Mount Omuro, creating fresh air and the lovely sound of woodpeckers waking up in the morning. The courtyard's high walls provide excellent privacy. Overall, it's wonderful to soak in the hot springs so close to nature! Service: The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. On the day of our visit, we hadn't made a thorough travel guide, so we couldn't get a taxi or catch the bus after leaving the attraction. We finally called and asked if they could pick us up. Although the hotel doesn't offer a shuttle service, the manager heard about it and came to pick us up. We arrived just in time for dinner. (Visitors visiting Izu Kogen must plan their transportation accordingly! It's generally okay during the day, but taxis are incredibly difficult after 5 PM, and when the buses close, it's a real hassle.) Dinner at Green Color Yuzen: The food was the biggest surprise. The menu combines local specialties and seasonal vegetables, and the presentation was beautiful and delicious! Each dish was small, but we were still quite full after finishing them all. Despite the language barrier, the manager took great pains to explain the dishes to us. Breakfast was incredibly filling! The dishes were varied and generous, and they were delicious! 😋 All in all, it was a fantastic experience! This was the first stop on our trip. My husband and I flew for over ten hours to Tokyo, feeling shaky, and then spent a full day walking around Izu Kogen. After checking into this hotel that night, we felt completely refreshed! Thank you to the hotel staff, and thank you to Izu! Vacationing is such a blessing, and I feel even more hopeful about the days ahead."
