Romantic Hotels in Hakone

"The hotel was beautiful, and my dad and I were very happy with our stay. The room was extremely clean. We tried the hot springs on the hotel's top floor and also at the shopping mall across the street, and the ones at the mall were definitely better. We booked the 'one night, two meals' package, and overall it was excellent value for money. Regarding transportation, I didn't research it thoroughly beforehand, but it turns out you can take a bus directly from Odawara, Hakone-Yumoto, and Gora stations, and it's free if you use the Hakone Free Pass. When we arrived, a Chinese ticket agent told us the Odawara bus was very crowded and suggested we take the H line from Hakone-Yumoto. There's also a bus that goes directly to the hotel from the Hakone Open-Air Museum. The hotel's own shuttle bus has a fixed schedule (see image below), and the pickup spot at Gora Station can be a bit tricky to find."

"Not bad. I can see they are trying to make this property more known to international guests from different countries. Two dire problems: the food was extremely salty. With the exception of the Teppan dinner, all of the meals we had here had so much sodium content. Also, their food in general is not of high quality and tastes pretty much the same across all dishes. Please make improvements. And another thing I would highly recommend is that the manager lady learn English so that next time I visit this property and have to communicate in English and ask for some help, she doesn’t get sassy or mad at me for requesting another staff member who can speak English. I really needed some help with golf reservations and understandably it is not her business that we had to go golfing the next day. However, I didn’t realize it was such a rude thing to ask for another employee who could understand what I was saying when she couldn’t understand my requests specifically because of her lack of English proficiency. For this property to become popular with international guests, it would be a wholesome idea for the chief manager to learn to speak better English anyways. I guess she knew that she was being rude by hitting the desk because she came up to me and gave me her business card (without my asking and finally in a nice manner) when I merely asked a younger staff member if the angry lady was the manager. She must have known that she was giving me attitudes. When you are in the hospitality business, please don’t forget that guests are there to enjoy their trip—savoring each moment—not to feel uncomfortable or be bothered by staff’s attitudes."

"This ryokan has a very traditional Japanese feel. It's clean, and the hot springs are excellent. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hakone. It's suitable for couples, families with children, or even larger family groups, and it's definitely worth the money."

"Fabulous place and perfect Japanese style hospitality. Great amenities, delicious food, friendly and helpful staffs - can't ask for more for a great holiday in Hakone."

"The hotel was located a bit further out from the main attractions. However, with that its also at a quieter area and nice break away from the touristy area. Because of the location, it is also convenient to get to the Gotemba outlet mall. There’s a mountain view outside the balcony. A convenience store and bus stop just right outside the hotel. We felt the breakfast served was underwhelming, and the same food was served on the 2 days we were there. The hotel was spacious and really clean, interior design was beautiful. The hotspring was really nice as well. The staff recommended the Izakaya restaurant called Monta, just few minutes walk from the hotel. The food was really good and open till 12am!"

"🏔️✨【Hakone Indigo Hotel: A Dreamlike Mountain Retreat】 This was my first stay at Hakone Gōra Indigo, and I was truly rejuvenated by the ambiance. The hotel is nestled in a hot spring resort surrounded by mountains; opening the window reveals layers of greenery and distant clouds and mist, as beautiful as a painting. The room design is modern yet elegantly Japanese, and the open-air onsen was fantastic. The spring water was smooth and comforting, instantly washing away a day's fatigue. Breakfast was also incredibly impressive, using fresh local ingredients; you could feel the attention to detail even in the bread and juice. The staff were friendly and attentive, with every greeting feeling warm, making you feel right at home. The overall experience exceeded expectations, and it's worth revisiting, whether you're a couple, a family, or a solo traveler. 💛 The only thing worth mentioning is that the in-room onsen water seemed to be completely diluted; you could even call it a 'fake' onsen. It lacked the typical onsen smell and was essentially just hot water."

"We booked a hot spring hotel on short notice and were very satisfied with it. We arrived early and could not check in until after 3:30 pm, but fortunately we could leave our luggage at the hotel. The staff helped us make the bed when we were having dinner in the evening. There was a rich variety of dinner, but we didn’t really like the side dishes. It would have been better if the side dishes were replaced with sashimi. We even had a surprise dessert after the meal, which made us very happy. The breakfast the next day was also very filling and delicious. The experience is very good and recommended for staying."

"It is located in a forest in a corner of Hakone. The forest is dense and there is a good hot spring, so it is suitable for relaxation and digital detox. It is very quiet. The biggest attraction here is the restaurant called Hyoseki. Hyoseki, which is an old ryokan building that has been in operation since 1925, shows the harmony of traditional Japanese ryokan and modern times. The Freeverse and the reception restaurant on the Fore side are in contrast with each other in a Western style, and they all match the concept and have their own charm. The villa was built recently and the facilities are good, but there are some questions about the hygiene management, such as the condition of the hot spring water, the slow operation of the hot water, and the spider webs on the ceiling. However, the food and atmosphere are very good, so I am satisfied."

"I stayed there with my boyfriend and it was very nice. When I first looked at the images, I thought the bathroom was made of glass...? That's what I thought, but I was able to hide it with the curtains so it didn't bother me. It was comfortable, not too big and not too small. I really liked the smell of the amenity set."

"The hotel has great location and it’s very new and spacious. We stayed on the day of fireworks and we can see the fireworks closely in the balcony. However, there is no front reception and no luggage storage before and after check in."
