Beppu Beach Hotels

"The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from Beppu Station. It was raining on the day we arrived, so we took a taxi which cost around 50 HKD. We had a fantastic sea-view room. Although the facilities were a bit old, they were very well maintained. The breakfast was abundant and also served in a restaurant with an amazing sea view. A truly great experience."

"The check-in process was smooth. There was no room card provided; instead, I was given a password to access my room, which was stated on a formal document. Be sure to take a photo of the password and keep it safe, as you’ll need it throughout your stay. Since there is no room card, there is also no formal check-out process—simply vacate the room by your designated check-out date and time. The room was spacious and well-equipped with full amenities, including a water dispenser, clothes-hanging space, a balcony, a TV, and a bathtub. There was no housekeeping service during my stay, so you’ll need to keep the room clean yourself. However, the hotel staff kindly placed fresh towels and new amenities in a basket outside the room daily for guests to use. The hotel is located near Beppu Station, although it requires a bit of walking to get there. A Don Quijote (Donki) store is conveniently located just opposite the hotel. For convenience stores, you’ll need to walk a little further in the direction of Beppu Tower. The hotel also offers a welcome drink at the lobby and has coin-operated laundry dryers on the first floor. Additionally, there is a washing machine available in the room. Overall, I would recommend staying at this hotel."

"The room and the Onsen were EXACTLY like those in the listing and were absolutely stunning! The breakfast was delicious and the range more than adequate. The location is good if you drive but is about 1km walk to Beppu Tower and a bit more from the night street. But I’d happily trade that for the spacious room and the wonderful sea and sunrise view."

"We were traveling by car. The hotel offers parking right downstairs, but if it's full, you'd have to park elsewhere, and those spots aren't particularly close. The staff at the entrance provided us with a parking pass and a map, but the pass didn't work when we tried to use it. We eventually circled back to the hotel's main parking area and, thankfully, found an available spot. Our traditional Japanese-style room had a lovely sea view. The onsen (hot spring bath) also offered sea views, which was very relaxing, though guests need to lay out their own futons. The hotel is approximately 6 kilometers from Beppu's most famous attraction, the Beppu Hells. The buffet included with our stay was decent."

"My stay at Grand Mercure Beppu Bay Resort & Spa was truly wonderful. The rooms were spacious, clean, and beautifully designed, offering stunning views of Beppu Bay. The staff were warm, welcoming, and always ready to assist, making the experience feel personal and relaxing. The hot springs and spa facilities were exceptional, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. The breakfast buffet offered a great variety of local and international dishes, all fresh and delicious. Overall, it’s an excellent resort for both leisure and comfort — I would definitely stay here again!"

"Transportation: Very convenient. It's only a 10-minute walk to JR Beppu Station. For my bus trip to Fukuoka, the bus stop (right outside Starbucks) was just a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Facilities: This is a resort-style hotel, and I was lucky enough to snag a sea-view room where the first rays of morning sun streamed directly in. The room was very spacious, more than enough for two people; it actually felt a bit large for just myself. It was approximately 10 tatami mats in size (excluding the bathroom, separate toilet, entryway, and balcony). Cleanliness: As it was a Japanese-style room, it was generally clean, but there were some small bugs. I got a few bites on my fingers and bottom, but they cleared up by the next day. Ambiance: The balcony offered a direct view of the ocean. The 260-degree sea view room was truly impressive. Service: Overall, the service was very good. The only area that needs improvement is the hot spring on the 7th floor. On the day of my arrival, I made a reservation for the hot spring with the hotel, but I didn't receive any confirmation or proof. Consequently, I didn't actually go. However, I was still charged either 1000 or 1500 yen for it at check-out. It's a small amount, so I didn't bother disputing it with the front desk, but I do think their booking and confirmation process for the hot spring needs significant improvement."

"Hands down my favorite hotel in Beppu! I was worried the standard room wouldn't compare to the open-air bath room, which was fully booked for my first night. But to my surprise, they put me in a corner suite on the top floor with an ocean view for my first night's standard room! The service was impeccably good – just the right amount of warmth, and they were incredibly accommodating. The value for money is truly unbeatable. It was far more satisfying than the Kai and Seikai hotels I'd stayed at in Beppu before (and this one was less than half the price!). So sometimes, a higher price doesn't necessarily mean better quality – you really have to experience it for yourself. Breakfast was just okay, but filling, and dinner was incredibly generous and delicious 🤤"
