My stay at the InterContinental Hotel was absolutely outstanding! From the moment I arrived, Jasmine's warm welcome and professional service made me feel genuinely cared for, with every detail reflecting high quality. The room was spacious and comfortable, the bedding soft and clean, and the night view was simply captivating. The food and drinks in the Executive Lounge were exceptional, and the staff were always proactive in anticipating and fulfilling needs. The hotel's location is also very convenient, with excellent amenities nearby. Whether for business or leisure, the InterContinental delivered an experience that exceeded all expectations. Highly recommended!

Our one-night stay with the kids was great. The only downside was a spiderweb above the sofa, but after contacting our dedicated WeChat butler, it was promptly and efficiently handled. They also quickly delivered children's amenities and snacks when requested. We didn't get a chance to visit the Smurfs Theme Park nearby, but the hotel's kids' playground and heated pool kept the little ones entertained for half a day each. It was also very considerate of them to allow us to visit the underwater restaurant outside of opening hours. The staff were all very friendly. The complimentary breakfast was also quite good. I'm not sure if it was because it was Mid-Autumn Festival and fewer people were staying, but when we went to the restaurant around 9:30 AM, we immediately got a table. There was plenty of breakfast food available, and we didn't have to wait in line.

Overall, I was quite satisfied with my stay. Upon check-in for my birthday, they thoughtfully provided a small cake, which was a nice touch. However, I wasn't able to receive a room upgrade. Interestingly, I found the Executive Deluxe Room to be preferable to the Executive Grand Room. A standout feature was the bathroom design: the toilet, vanity, bathtub, and shower are all in separate areas. There's even a small hand basin within the toilet cubicle, which is incredibly convenient as it allows the toilet and showering/bathing facilities to be used independently. This segmented design, where the toilet is in its own private cubicle, is similar to the twin rooms at Hyatt Regency Shanghai Global Harbor and Hyatt Regency Songjiang. The service at the Club InterContinental Lounge on the 10th floor was exceptionally attentive. Furthermore, the gym and swimming pool on the 5th floor are complimentary for all hotel guests.

The location is excellent, less than a 10-minute walk from Century Avenue Metro Station, offering convenient access to lines 2, 4, 6, and 9, making it easy to get anywhere. There are also shopping centers like Bailian Century Shopping Mall nearby, placing it in a prime spot in this area.

The hotel's interior has a rather dated feel, reminiscent of the 1990s, though it's well-maintained. However, there are some major flaws. Rooms above the 2nd floor lack air conditioning in the outdoor space. Other aspects are generally acceptable, except for one peculiar design choice: the reading lamps above the bed. The switch for the left lamp is on the right nightstand, and the switch for the right lamp is on the left nightstand. I have no idea what the designers were thinking when they came up with that 🤔🤔🤔. Furthermore, there's only a hanging lamp on the left nightstand; the right side has neither a hanging lamp nor a table lamp. As someone who sleeps on the right side, I had to tell the person on the left to please turn off my reading lamp if they woke up later tonight 😅😅😅.

The afternoon tea, happy hour, and service at the Executive Lounge were all quite good.

The hotel's service in all other aspects was excellent. When I checked out, I mentioned the reading lamp issue, and shortly after leaving, I received a call from the hotel to inquire about it.

If it weren't for the reading lamp issue, this hotel would absolutely deserve a perfect score. I look forward to the hotel's improvements! 💪

While the decor in the VIP Tower has a vintage charm, the facilities are not at all old; it's clear everything is very well-maintained. The wooden furniture gleams, complemented by stylish dark red fabrics. High-end amenities like Byredo toiletries and Lebon mouthwash are provided. The bedding is also excellent.

The Executive Lounge has a sophisticated, artistic feel, and all the lounge staff were professional and friendly, with the strange exception of one staff member asking for a positive review on Dianping.

The concierge staff, both in the Main Building and the VIP Tower, provided excellent service.

The housekeeping staff we encountered in the VIP Tower were also friendly, proactively greeting us with smiles.

Breakfast at Langlu Restaurant offered a wide variety of choices, with an especially extensive selection of breads and yogurts. The dining and serving areas are spacious. However, the poached eggs were pre-made, and the yolks were unfortunately already solidified.

Upon check-in, the front desk informed us that all balcony rooms, regardless of size, would require a 1.5-hour wait, meaning we couldn't check in until after 3:30 PM. They also refused to arrange a room for us to wait in. While delays can be understood, there are serious issues with their room allocation management and communication strategy. Instead of offering solutions or showing empathy, the staff simply refused, which is not the standard practice in the service industry. They emphasized that check-in is strictly at 3 PM, which raises the question: are previous guests equally enforced to check out at the regulated 12 PM? When we asked if we could enter a cleaned room, they refused again, stating they couldn't issue a room key. It was only after my heavily pregnant wife expressed her frustration that we were immediately given a small balcony room – which, to our disappointment, faced the underground parking access.

Regarding cleanliness, there was hair in the bathtub that hadn't been properly cleaned.

When our taxi arrived, security staff simply told the driver he had taken the wrong route and to turn back, but offered no guidance or alternative directions.

The swimming pool and gym facilities are outsourced, which negatively impacts the guest experience.

Great room overall! Loved the floor-to-ceiling windows and river view. I happened to return to my room while the housekeeper was tidying up, and she responsibly asked me to verify my room card again. Her gentle and meticulous approach was much appreciated! 👍 While the room's facilities are a bit dated, they are fully functional. My only wish would be for the air conditioning to be a little quieter. They generously provided plenty of bottled water, which was perfect for a tea lover like me!

In my opinion, the InterContinental Dishui Lake is one of the best resort hotels in the Shanghai area, and a truly exemplary property within the IHG group. This was my second stay, and although I unfortunately missed the Dishui Lake fireworks display (which typically happens every Saturday at 8 PM starting from 2025), this non-hotel related shortcoming doesn't affect the hotel's quality, whether it's the food or the service. After a two-night stay, I still find many excellent aspects of the hotel, and I'll highlight three key points:

First, the beautiful environment. The hotel occupies a southern island, with the picturesque Dishui Lake right outside. Under blue skies and white clouds, sailboats dot the vast, azure lake, creating a poetic and idyllic scene – a rare and stunning landscape within the Shanghai region.

Second, the exquisite cuisine. I noticed a significant improvement in both the Western and Chinese restaurants compared to my previous visit, especially the desserts. They are basically the best I've encountered among the dozens of InterContinental properties I've stayed at (within the InterContinental brand only). The buffet also offers excellent options like cheese-baked lobster, cheese-baked durian, pan-fried small pomfret, and Dubarry ice cream.

Third, the excellent service. From the front office to housekeeping, and from the restaurants to the lounge, the InterContinental's service is attentive and meticulous, and the staff are kind and approachable. I'd like to extend a special thank you to the hotel's management team and operations department for their warm and professional service during my family's stay. This includes employees I know by name and many others whose names I don't, such as F&B Manager George, Front Office Manager Carol, Duty Manager Jane, South Island Market Manager Kimi, Cai Feng Lou Manager Grace, and Executive Lounge staff member Linda.

InterContinental Dishui Lake, I must return!

Excellent modern hotel. The lobby is modern and quiet. Very welcoming staff from the bell hop to the check in. The room was a bit small but very well appointed. The floor to ceiling glass with great views of the marina made up for the small room. The bathroom was very clean and great water pressure.
Breakfast was excellent with lots of options for every taste. 
Highly recommended to explore the marina. Take a cruise, or go shopping or dining right at the footsteps of the hotel.
Will stay here again...

I regret not being able to see the inside of Burj Khalifa when I traveled to Dubai 6 years ago, so I came back. The location is not bad, but the design of the vehicle entrance and exit is strange, so drivers have a hard time finding it. Also, I asked for extra ketchup after ordering room dining, and it took an hour, but other than that, it was fine.

Facilities: Very new, not as old as I imagined, very modern

Highly recommend the environment design service and breakfast are very rich, ￼ breakfast also has rice noodles suitable for Asians, but the chili is too spicy, especially addictive

Intercontinental Residence felt like a home away from home. We were treated very kindly and we love the hospitality provided to us by the team. Keep it up, see you again next year! 

We recently stayed at the InterContinental Shenzhen with our family—our 3-year-old daughter, 12-year-old son, my wife, and me—and we absolutely loved it! The hotel is wonderfully child-friendly, with activities that kept our kids delighted throughout. The pirate-themed swimming pool was a standout; our children didn’t want to leave! Our daughter especially adored the train that circles the swimming play area, adding a magical touch to their fun.

The gym area is excellent, offering a great space for adults to unwind and stay active. The bar and restaurant exceeded our expectations, and breakfast was superb, featuring an impressive selection of both Chinese and Western dishes to suit every taste.

A big thank you to @Dafne 达芙妮 for making our entire stay so special — her thoughtful service truly enhanced our experience. We have been returning to this hotel since our son was 2 years old, and thanks to Dafne, this visit was extra memorable. We are already looking forward to our next stay!

As a beachfront resort hotel, the sea view is beautiful, especially on a clear day, comparable to Sanya. However, the sand at Dameisha is very coarse and quite rough on the feet. The hotel is large with many rooms, but the room size is tiny. This is truly the smallest and oldest InterContinental I've ever stayed in. Upon entering the room, there was an immediate smell of dampness and mold. The room lighting was dim, and the furniture colors were dark, making it feel very oppressive and uncomfortable. The single beds in the twin room were 1.2 meters wide, which is very narrow. The description said it was renovated in 2020, but the old condition of the facilities suggests it's at least a decade old. Also, the toilet and curtains are not electric, which is very inconvenient. The public swimming pool at the hotel is excellent, large, and the water temperature is suitable. Staff members are always on hand to monitor safety, which is reassuring. Breakfast is plentiful, and the dining area is quite spacious. There were many people checking in, probably due to the holiday, and I had to queue for a long time. The room wasn't ready, so I asked if they would call me when it was. The front desk said no, and that I'd have to come back to the front desk to ask, giving the reason that there were too many people checking in... I've never seen anything like it! Has the hotel never hosted so many guests before? The cleaning lady was excellent, very meticulous in cleaning, and the room was spotless. She was responsive and always willing to help, I'm very grateful! If it weren't for the great cleaning lady, the hotel's service wouldn't even get a 3-star rating. The biggest advantage of this hotel is its proximity to the sea; you just walk downstairs to the beach, and you can see the sea from your room, which is very nice. During the National Day holiday, the hotel price went up to over 3000 a night. For this room size, facilities, and service, I personally think it's very overpriced. I'd consider it acceptable if it were around 1000. I've stayed at many InterContinental hotels, and this one is indeed a bit subpar.

I opted for the Eaton Suite and absolutely loved its modern decor. The bedding, as always, was incredibly comfortable. There's a small shopping mall and restaurants right next door. The area isn't crowded, making it perfect for strolls, and the surroundings are very pleasant. Both the front desk staff and Ms. Xu Xiaoxia at Cai Feng Lou provided excellent service. Cai Feng Lou's Cantonese buffet is definitely worth a try. I felt like I was constantly being spoiled with food, perhaps a perk of staying in the Eaton Suite. The swimming pool was just average and not very suitable for children; it was quite deep and often had many people taking lessons. Breakfast offered a wide variety of choices. My only complaint was that while eating a shrimp cake, I bit into an unexpected piece of shell and chipped my tooth. The fact that the server didn't even offer an apology after I reported it was truly unacceptable. Overall, I would still give this hotel a five-star rating.
