Kyoto Hostels

"A decent hostel with an excellent location near Gion in NE Kyoto, and very near to a station with direct trains to Osaka. The room was OK in size but very bare, only a double bed and tiny shelves for nightstands. It was a shame as you could easily fit a table/ chairs/ small wardrobe in here which would make it much easier for storing things instead of on the floor! Shared bathroom was OK, and only one shared shower for our floor, thankfully it was always free when we needed it. It was quite expensive for what it was so slightly disappointing, but I guess Kytoto is now a very expensive city to stay in."

"I was very happy because the location was really close by the hot bath. And the staff was very friendly to check me in later than 9.00pm The kitchen has everything you need in case you stay for a bit longer and the common room invites people to hang around and spend time there Even up to slippers they provide for you My room was very small but I just needed it to sleep in there so it was fine for me"

"So its very near the temples and attractions so thats nice. Also away from the kyoto station so consider that if youre also into that. The hostel allowed me to leave my bag before and after checkout so thats perfect. It is also clean and well maintained, though toilet locks can be a bit tricky. They also have a cafe below, then a place to hangout with people and strangers. Have small kitchen with everything in it. They dont have free rental towel so heres that but its fine. Overall i will recommend this to my friends."

"Very satisfied with my last stay, clean and comfortable This time, I felt that the dishwashing staff on the second floor were really busy. I didn't dare to stay for a long time. I felt like they were unhappy. They were like this at night and during the day when the food was being collected... I just happened to be in a good mood. Yeah..but it’s awesome even if the bowl is too loud and the cup is not broken👍"

"If you can, definitely ask for the bottom bunk, it was a pain in the ass climbing up and down with the top not having a head of head space. They do provide lockers with keys to lock up your valuables. They also provide some commonly used items on top of the fridge. Shower is in the room but washroom is shared in the communal area on every floor, the toilet stalls are extremely tight, it was a challenge to sit down, will def be problematic for taller individuals. It is a bit of a walk from the station but it is very quiet at night, everyone in the room was very respectful and tried to minimize the sound as much as possible. Overall, aside from the toilet being way too crammed, everything was good."

"Cute place to stay in a spacious mixed dorm. The dorm was well designed with lockers and lots of small shelves next to the bed plus a sink in the room. Bed was a little hard but not terrible. Found the self check-in process very convenient and clearly explained, you have to pay city tax and any extra charges separately before check-out, which you can do online with a qr code or cash if you have the exact amount. Nice to experience a more traditional building in Kyoto. The free rice porridge and teas and coffee was a great bonus. Plenty of convenience shops nearby and right near Kyoto Station. Overall a really relaxing and cosy place to stay!"

"My experience was perfect. The front desk attendant was very helpful and kind. The room was exactly like in the photos. Good facilities and she let us leave our luggage until 4PM. I highly recommend this place. The best guesthouse I have stayed so far."

Quick Tips for Your Stay • Luggage Strategy: If you are traveling with large bags, consider using a Takkyubin (luggage forwarding service) to send your heavy gear to your next destination, or check if the front desk can store larger items in a common area. • Socializing: Take advantage of the common areas in the evening; it sounds like the best part of the experience happens there. "The hostel is located in the historic district, meaning you can stroll the picturesque streets in the morning before the crowds get too crowded. The hostel itself is very cozy. We rented a private room (it's larger than in the photo), but a shared room would have been just as nice. The window in the private room doesn't open, but there's air conditioning. There are two toilets, a European-style shower, and a bathroom. There's a washer and dryer (coin-type). The kitchen has everything you need, plus tea and coffee, and it's generally a pleasant place to hang out. The guests are pleasant, with many Japanese staying there. The hostess is wonderful, very hospitable. Thank her so much. She can recommend places to go and make you some mincemeat. If I ever go to Kyoto again, I'd stay here, not in a shared room. This was probably the nicest place I stayed on my entire trip."
