"A huge thank you to Xiu and Jack for their wonderful hospitality! They were incredibly kind and helped us with our Great Wall itineraries and transport, with the bonus of a massage car 🙏🏻 The hotel is very well located for quick car access to Gubeikou, Simatai, and Jinshanling. The rooms are comfortable, and the small terrace with a view of the Great Wall is very pleasant at the end of the day. The breakfast and dinner are very good (and plentiful!), and we really enjoyed the karaoke night 🎤 We felt very welcome, just like family. Hope to see you again soon!"

"Our stay at Gubei Zhiguang was absolutely amazing! Before we arrived, the hotel manager, Kangle, called us a day in advance to ask for our arrival time and provide directions. Since it was the off-season and not many tourists were around, she even upgraded our room for free to one with a direct view of the Great Wall from the window, which was incredibly thoughtful. While we were checking in, Kangle saw my friend and I waiting in the lobby and kindly helped us with our luggage. When we jokingly asked if we, as 'children,' could also get a gift, Kangle proactively offered us a Napoleon pastry. Our impression of her went up, up, up! Following Kangle's recommendation, we visited Simatai Great Wall in the evening, going up before sunset and coming down after dark. We witnessed an absolutely stunning sunset and night view – this trip was definitely worth it! The ancient town itself, with its small bridges and flowing water, sculling boats, hot springs, and enthusiastic staff, is a place worth revisiting. We're already looking forward to our next trip to experience the intangible cultural heritage crafts!"

"The customer service lady was quite nice, but I do have some issues with the guesthouse: 1. Check-in time was 2 PM, but when we arrived, the room wasn't ready yet. We had to wait another half an hour for them to finish cleaning. 2. The pillows on the bed were too flat, and the bed itself was too soft, making it uncomfortable. 3. And this is the most important point: there's no need to stay overnight in this Chestnut Village. It's tiny, and even the 'mini waterfall stream' is artificial 😂. You can finish exploring and taking pictures in just an afternoon. Also, food is very expensive here; an ice cream costs 68. Although the restaurant is a bit pricey, the food itself is actually quite good. 4. There are a lot of people with dogs, and they tend to pee all over the restaurant. There's really no point in bringing kids here, as there are practically no facilities for children."

"I come to Gubei Water Town every year for competitions, and it's always our top choice for a family getaway. The scenic area offers a lot to do and is perfect for a relaxing two-day weekend. The hotel's location is excellent, right at the entrance to the scenic area. The pool, restaurant, and other amenities all exceeded my expectations, especially the views from the upper floors and the outdoor pool, where you can see the Great Wall in the distance – it's truly stunning."

"The room was absolutely satisfying, truly living up to its reputation as a design hotel. The service was excellent too, and the view from the window was lovely. The location is perfect; it's right by the Art Museum subway station, which is just one stop away from the pedestrian street. The art museum itself is right downstairs, and I was lucky enough to catch the Da Vinci exhibition. Longfu Temple is also just a short walk diagonally across from the hotel. In the evening, if the weather's good, the sunset views are fantastic. At night, you can head to Wangfujing Pedestrian Street. For Jingshan Park and Beihai Park, I'd recommend an early morning visit to witness the amazing功夫 (kung fu) practiced by Beijing's elderly residents. For food, just search on review apps; delivery is also very fast. If I had to pick a minor flaw, it would be that the hotel entrance isn't very easy to find, and the navigation wasn't entirely accurate. Complimentary fruit: They even surprised me with a small cake for my birthday. Mini-bar drinks in the room are complimentary and replenished daily."

"The Inn is run by a lovely, friendly young couple. Very helpful and enthusiastic in their service. The Inn is located at the end of the water town, practically next to the Simatai great wall cable car entrance and very near to one of the hotel hot springs. 1.The price of the Inn included entrance tickets into the water town (apparently you have to pay separately for entrance into the water town if your hotel is outside the town or if your hotel package doesn't include the entrance fee). 2. Also included are entrance tickets to the Simatai great wall but not the cable car. You need to pay separately for cable car up/down the wall. Single cable car ticket 130rmb. Return cable car ticket 200rmb. 3. Discount entrance ticket to the Simatai great wall at night. Normal price 220rmb. Discount price 120rmb. 4. Free shuttle bus ride within the water town. Very useful when you have luggage to carry or just want to go back/forth around town. 5. Traditional Chinese breakfast every morning 7.30 - 9.30am 6. Two free entrance tickets to use the hot springs. I really enjoyed my stay here. Would highly recommend anyone to stay here. Gubei is a beautiful water town, well worth a visit. "DeQuan Luxury Hotel This hotel is fantastic! The breakfast offers a huge variety of options, and the lobby is incredibly spacious and bright the moment you walk in. Plus, the front desk has some complimentary snacks and coffee, and there's even a smart robot to deliver food to your room, which is really cool. All the in-room amenities are very smart and modern. I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time."

"Let me start by saying, if I could give this hotel six stars, I absolutely would without hesitation! First off, the location is superb. It's just around the corner from the subway station, and Xizhimen is a major transportation hub, plus Beijing North Railway Station is nearby. Upon arriving in the lobby, staff were there to greet and assist, offering tips on local attractions and important notes, and even helping with luggage. A special shout-out to Tong Meiyi for her warm and thoughtful service. During my stay, something happened: I checked out early in the morning with my child, but after finishing our sightseeing sooner than expected, I regretted checking out so early. We still had several hours until our high-speed train departed. When I returned to pick up our luggage, I asked the front desk if we could rest for a few more hours if my room hadn't been cleaned yet. Xiao Ziyun, who was at the desk, saw how tired I looked and immediately checked the room availability. Understanding my situation, she said the room hadn't been cleaned yet and it was fine. However, when I opened the door, I found the room spotless! Honestly, I was quite touched at that moment. To minimize extra work for the cleaning staff, I barely used the room, only watching TV, and I even avoided using the faucets and toilet. When I left, I met the two cleaning ladies, who were all smiles and understanding, assuring me it was no problem and they'd recheck the room. (The ladies were Zhou Qiaofeng and Li Guiling.) Having stayed in countless hotels, this level of wholehearted service for guests is truly rare. I will definitely choose this place again on my next trip to Beijing."

"We had a wonderful stay at this homestay hotel. It was clean, comfortable, and an ideal base for exploring the Gubeikou, or “wild”, section of the Great Wall. What made the stay especially easy was the generosity and helpfulness of our hosts. For a very reasonable price, we were taken to the starting points for our Great Wall walks, drop us off when needed, and later pick us up at Simatai Water Town. Pick-up and drop-off at the railway station were also included in the room price, which made everything very convenient. When we arrived, our smiling host was waiting for us at the station with our name on a piece of paper. A couple of days later, after we had moved on to Jinshanling and then returned to catch the train to Beijing, there he was again, greeting us like old friends. The warmth and kindness shown by our host and his wife made this stay very special. We would happily recommend this homestay to anyone wanting to explore the Great Wall around Gubeikou."

"Club Med Joyview Beijing Yanqing in-depth review | Divine Service, rooms a bit dated I specifically chose Club Med Beijing Yanqing for my birthday weekend, and the overall experience had its highlights and minor flaws. However, two staff members elevated my vacation happiness to a perfect score, and I absolutely have to give them special praise. The resort is massive, built into the mountains, and boasts incredibly comprehensive facilities. Golf, hot springs, indoor and outdoor sports venues, and a kids' club are all available. The all-inclusive model is hassle-free and relaxing, perfect for both couples and families with kids. The restaurant offers a rich variety of dishes, with extensive buffet options for breakfast and dinner, plus G.O. interactive shows in the evening, creating a great atmosphere. I especially want to commend Luca Han from Guest Relations and Yona Wang from Amazing Family—their service is truly top-tier! During check-in, they saw my ID and asked about my birthday. I honestly wasn't expecting anything, but Luca Han quietly made a note of it and proactively followed up, secretly arranging a room decoration for me. The moment I opened the door, I was genuinely touched: exquisite balloon decorations, a handwritten birthday card, and some small desserts. Every detail was meticulously thoughtful, clearly not a perfunctory, production-line setup. From guiding me through check-in and explaining the resort's activities to coordinating the entire birthday surprise, he was incredibly responsive to any request. He was gentle, professional, and had excellent judgment, accurately picking up on guests' subtle emotions and making sure the celebration was perfect. His attentiveness made the entire birthday trip extra memorable. If you visit this resort, you absolutely must connect with Luca Han; he'll upgrade your service experience directly. Yona Wang is also delightful, a vibrant and beautiful young woman who is incredibly versatile. She's even practicing flying trapeze. I missed her performance this time, but I hope to have more time to interact with this interesting and capable 'hexa-fighter' next time. Objectively, there were some drawbacks: the overall room facilities are a bit old. You can tell the hotel has been open for some years, and the bathroom fixtures and some appliances feel a bit common. However, the room was clean and tidy, and all basic functions worked properly. Compared to newer places, the hardware and decor definitely don't keep up with current aesthetics, and the soundproofing is mediocre; you can occasionally hear noise from the corridor. Fortunately, the room space is adequate, the bedding is soft, and it doesn't affect basic rest, but the hardware definitely has room for improvement. Overall, the good outweighs the bad. The resort offers abundant recreational activities, and the dining is excellent. The biggest plus, however, is the staff, exemplified by Luca Han, whose thoughtful and warm service completely compensated for the minor disappointment of the outdated room facilities. If you're not fixated on brand-new decor and prioritize a great vacation atmosphere and attentive service, especially for birthdays or anniversaries, ask Luca Han to arrange things for you. You'll definitely receive an incredibly surprising and exclusive ceremonial experience. It's already on my list for repeat stays around Beijing!"
