Hotel near Beijing Wtown/The Simatai Great Wall,Beijing
"A huge thank you to Xiu and Jack for their wonderful hospitality! They were incredibly kind and helped us with our Great Wall itineraries and transport, with the bonus of a massage car đŸ™đŸ» The hotel is very well located for quick car access to Gubeikou, Simatai, and Jinshanling. The rooms are comfortable, and the small terrace with a view of the Great Wall is very pleasant at the end of the day. The breakfast and dinner are very good (and plentiful!), and we really enjoyed the karaoke night đŸŽ€ We felt very welcome, just like family. Hope to see you again soon!"

"Our stay at Gubei Zhiguang was absolutely amazing! Before we arrived, the hotel manager, Kangle, called us a day in advance to ask for our arrival time and provide directions. Since it was the off-season and not many tourists were around, she even upgraded our room for free to one with a direct view of the Great Wall from the window, which was incredibly thoughtful. While we were checking in, Kangle saw my friend and I waiting in the lobby and kindly helped us with our luggage. When we jokingly asked if we, as 'children,' could also get a gift, Kangle proactively offered us a Napoleon pastry. Our impression of her went up, up, up! Following Kangle's recommendation, we visited Simatai Great Wall in the evening, going up before sunset and coming down after dark. We witnessed an absolutely stunning sunset and night view – this trip was definitely worth it! The ancient town itself, with its small bridges and flowing water, sculling boats, hot springs, and enthusiastic staff, is a place worth revisiting. We're already looking forward to our next trip to experience the intangible cultural heritage crafts!"

If you demand a high level of service, our guests have indicated that this hotel has excellent standards. This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling with families.

"The customer service lady was quite nice, but I do have some issues with the guesthouse: 1. Check-in time was 2 PM, but when we arrived, the room wasn't ready yet. We had to wait another half an hour for them to finish cleaning. 2. The pillows on the bed were too flat, and the bed itself was too soft, making it uncomfortable. 3. And this is the most important point: there's no need to stay overnight in this Chestnut Village. It's tiny, and even the 'mini waterfall stream' is artificial 😂. You can finish exploring and taking pictures in just an afternoon. Also, food is very expensive here; an ice cream costs 68. Although the restaurant is a bit pricey, the food itself is actually quite good. 4. There are a lot of people with dogs, and they tend to pee all over the restaurant. There's really no point in bringing kids here, as there are practically no facilities for children."

In their spare time, guests can play ping pong, relax in the spa, take a refreshing dip in the outdoor swimming pool or have some fun in the karaoke rooms.

"This place is definitely worth a visit. It's huge inside and uniformly managed. The hotel is very large with many rooms, but the quality of the staff varies. Some front desk staff are excellent, while others are quite poor, but since they don't wear name tags, I can't identify specific individuals. On my floor, I was fortunate to meet a wonderful and very responsible auntie (Liang Chunyu). She was very dedicated, helpful, and explained everything I asked clearly. The Great Wall tickets are a bit pricey at over 200 yuan per person. Parking overnight at the hotel also costs 25 yuan, which feels a bit stingy for a hotel of this caliber. Overall, the dining, lodging, and entertainment within this ancient town are pretty good."

"The room was absolutely satisfying, truly living up to its reputation as a design hotel. The service was excellent too, and the view from the window was lovely. The location is perfect; it's right by the Art Museum subway station, which is just one stop away from the pedestrian street. The art museum itself is right downstairs, and I was lucky enough to catch the Da Vinci exhibition. Longfu Temple is also just a short walk diagonally across from the hotel. In the evening, if the weather's good, the sunset views are fantastic. At night, you can head to Wangfujing Pedestrian Street. For Jingshan Park and Beihai Park, I'd recommend an early morning visit to witness the amazing㊟〫 (kung fu) practiced by Beijing's elderly residents. For food, just search on review apps; delivery is also very fast. If I had to pick a minor flaw, it would be that the hotel entrance isn't very easy to find, and the navigation wasn't entirely accurate. Complimentary fruit: They even surprised me with a small cake for my birthday. Mini-bar drinks in the room are complimentary and replenished daily."

"The Inn is run by a lovely, friendly young couple. Very helpful and enthusiastic in their service. The Inn is located at the end of the water town, practically next to the Simatai great wall cable car entrance and very near to one of the hotel hot springs. 1.The price of the Inn included entrance tickets into the water town (apparently you have to pay separately for entrance into the water town if your hotel is outside the town or if your hotel package doesn't include the entrance fee). 2. Also included are entrance tickets to the Simatai great wall but not the cable car. You need to pay separately for cable car up/down the wall. Single cable car ticket 130rmb. Return cable car ticket 200rmb. 3. Discount entrance ticket to the Simatai great wall at night. Normal price 220rmb. Discount price 120rmb. 4. Free shuttle bus ride within the water town. Very useful when you have luggage to carry or just want to go back/forth around town. 5. Traditional Chinese breakfast every morning 7.30 - 9.30am 6. Two free entrance tickets to use the hot springs. I really enjoyed my stay here. Would highly recommend anyone to stay here. Gubei is a beautiful water town, well worth a visit. "This time at Guoerzhao, the room was spacious, very close to the subway station, and the service was excellent. I was very satisfied! Zhang Jianying, Wang Yajie, and Zhang Mingfen were the three attendants responsible for our two rooms. When my child had a nosebleed and stained the sheets, they promptly replaced them and informed us that they had been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. They even left a handwritten note telling us not to worry. Later, they also brought us some local Beijing snacks! Many thanks! 👏"

"We had a wonderful stay at this homestay hotel. It was clean, comfortable, and an ideal base for exploring the Gubeikou, or “wild”, section of the Great Wall. What made the stay especially easy was the generosity and helpfulness of our hosts. For a very reasonable price, we were taken to the starting points for our Great Wall walks, drop us off when needed, and later pick us up at Simatai Water Town. Pick-up and drop-off at the railway station were also included in the room price, which made everything very convenient. When we arrived, our smiling host was waiting for us at the station with our name on a piece of paper. A couple of days later, after we had moved on to Jinshanling and then returned to catch the train to Beijing, there he was again, greeting us like old friends. The warmth and kindness shown by our host and his wife made this stay very special. We would happily recommend this homestay to anyone wanting to explore the Great Wall around Gubeikou."

"Taking advantage of the fact that summer vacation hadn't fully started, we took a weekend trip to Yanqing. Actually, I've been to Yanqing several times before, usually staying in guesthouses with the whole family. This time, it was just the three of us, so we chose Club Med, and it was well worth the trip. The hotel is excellent, with a huge property and pretty much every sports facility you could want. We even participated in game night, and there were lots of little activities that kept our child very happy. We stayed in a suite, which was spacious, well-equipped, and very quiet. Breakfast was plentiful. What I particularly want to highlight this time is the hotel's service; the experience was fantastic. Our concierge, 'LUCA,' was incredibly thoughtful, attentive, always available, and incredibly responsive to all our requests, leaving us with wonderful memories of this short trip. Highly recommend~"

From the moment we arrived, the staff came out to greet us in such a friendly and welcoming manner. During check-in they added us to a WeChat group and provided lots of useful information to help make our stay enjoyable, including nearby restaurants and local attractions. We could speak enough Chinese to get by, but even if you only speak English it would still be manageable as one of the staff members speaks some English. If needed, using a translation app was never a problem because all of the staff were patient, friendly, and always willing to help. One thing that really stood out was that they disinfected the hot spring right in front of us before use, which was a really nice touch and made us feel reassured that everything was clean. The entire room was spotless, including the sauna room, shower and bathroom. They also provided free TV services for our child, which was great for relaxing in the evening. I went to get some beers from the front desk and they insisted we didn’t need to pay. Later on, there was free BBQ with complimentary food and drinks, which we were not expecting at all. The staff were amazing throughout the stay. They even helped look after our child while we were eating, and brought breakfast directly to our door when requested. Breakfast itself was excellent with a good variety of food. The only small thing was there wasn’t any juice available, but honestly it was such a minor issue that I completely forgot about it afterwards. The 阿槹 was incredibly warm and friendly, just a genuinely lovely person, along with the owners and the rest of the staff. Everyone made us feel truly looked after. This is honestly one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. It’s also in a fantastic location — only around a 15-minute walk downhill to a quieter section of the Great Wall, and about a 20-minute taxi ride to Badaling Great Wall. When we left, they gave us dates as a way to say thank you for staying at their hotel and to welcome us back again in the future. I would highly recommend staying here and would happily return again.

Highly, highly recommended!!! Our group of four climbed Dongling Mountain this morning, and the scenery was so beautiful we didn't want to go back to Beijing. On a whim, we wanted to find a hot spring hotel nearby where we could relax and soak, and we found this one. The scenery was absolutely stunning!!! The entire village has excellent red-themed architecture and a very positive atmosphere. Even the small village museum's 3D video was quite good, creating a great ambiance, and in the morning, you could see the iconic red star right outside your window!! And the best part? The hot spring was incredibly relaxing! Enjoying a barbecue in the misty mountains, listening to the rain while soaking in the hot spring
friends, it was indescribably comfortable!! The owner and the manager were very kind, providing us with free breakfast. After breakfast, we immediately bought two jars of the same fermented bean curd online—it was so delicious, hahaha! In short, a perfect recommendation, we will definitely go again!!!

Stayed for 2 nights in Oct 2024, planned for 1 night to visit around the town itself and another night for the Simatai Great Wall. 1. Location - Inn is located within Gubei Watertown and it is necessary to go through the watertown to visit the Simatai Great Wall. By booking an accommodation within the town gives you discounted entrance price into the town and since we planned to visit the great wall and explore the town itself we have decided to stay for 2 nights (also partly the cost and time to travel there from Beijing). Inn is located near the main square where some performances are held and near a shuttle service stop (free shuttle services within town if you’re staying in an accommodation within town. Overall a good location within town. 2. Room - Booked a family room for 4 (2 single beds in each level). Room is mostly made of wood hence its not really a modern feel and its not really sound-proof which the staff has notified in advance. Room is spacious and bathroom is big. Stairs that goes up to the 2nd level is stable but can be a little steep for seniors. Overall the room is decent. It comes with tomatoes, peanuts and tea as welcome gift. 3. Luggage - There’s a luggage service whereby you can arrange for your luggage to be transported to your hotel from entrance, and from hotel back to entrance. This is definitely needed as the ground in the watertown is not a smooth surface and can be hard to carry your luggages around. 4. Services & breakfast - Staff’s services is really good and efficient! Breakfast is simple but has good variety. There’s the buffet portion which consists of small dishes for porridge, bread, bun, drinks etc. And there’s an alacarte portion where you need to order in advance the night before such as bacon, egg, sausages, noodles etc. i think its a good initiative to avoid wastage. Overall a very good stay and would recommend if you are visiting Gubei Watertown and would like to stay in a more traditional feel.

Honestly, everything was impeccable, from the value for money and pre-arrival communication to the actual stay. However, I have to mention the staff at the Kids' Club – they were quite something. My package included the Spring Kite Flying activity, and I asked a staff member if I could pay extra to switch to the pottery workshop. She said yes, it would be an additional 100 RMB. So I called my child over from outside, and we were just about to start when another staff member, a heavier-set woman in a white t-shirt, quickly interjected, saying we couldn't. When I asked why not, she replied with a very dismissive look, ”The activities we put in packages are the ones nobody wants to do.” I didn't want to argue with her, so I went to the front desk in the main lobby. After the front desk called to inquire, they said we could indeed pay extra for pottery. But by then, I'd completely lost interest. It just felt like a lack of consistent service, which was really disappointing. I hope this gets some attention, because for a hotel with such a great environment, I think it's one of a kind in Beijing. It would be a shame to spoil the whole experience because of one bad apple.

The moment I pushed open the door, the first thing that caught my eye was the expansive space. The floor-to-ceiling windows framed the entire mountain view like a moving painting. The sofa, lounge area, and dressing table were all comfortably laid out, and even with my suitcase fully open and spread out, it didn't feel crowded. I couldn't help but sink into the soft cushions and completely relax. Walking to the hot spring tub on the terrace, the water was so clear I could see the pebbles on the bottom, even the petals floating on the surface were perfectly visible. Soaking in the warm water, with the mountain breeze carrying the scent of grass and trees, it was so comfortable I didn't want to get out. Our service butler, Kira, who was in touch with us throughout, was truly heartwarming. She asked about our dietary preferences in advance, and anything we needed was delivered very quickly. Her sense of discretion was just right – not overly intrusive, yet thoughtful in every detail. This short trip was full of pleasant surprises at every turn.

Hygiene: My recent visit to Lanting Hot Spring Hotel coincided with their deep cleaning, and seeing their meticulous work really put guests at ease. Environment: The hotel's lush environment is incredibly pleasant. Service: The staff helped with luggage and guided me on purchasing Mutianyu Great Wall tickets, explaining everything in detail. It truly showed me what excellent service is all about. Their restaurant also serves exceptionally delicious food, highly recommended! Afternoon Tea: High quality.

Initially, a little hard to find as the location on trip.com map is inaccurate, but locals were very helpful in guiding me to the right building upon arrival Very attentive, helpful host - great value for money, would recommend for hikers after a long day at Jinshanling Nice places to eat in the town, and great bathroom and kitchen facilities included
