Took my child to visit two museums in Shanghai over the weekend, and after asking around, I chose the Marriott for its convenient location. It truly lives up to its reputation as a renowned, established hotel. Even after more than twenty years, since its establishment in 2003, the facilities are still well-maintained. The exterior looks a bit dated, but it offers great value for money, and the staff are all very enthusiastic and accommodating. The only downside is that it's not very family-friendly; there are no child safety barriers, and the pool doesn't have a warm children's section. However, it's perfect for business trips or general travel, and the pool water is very clean with no strong chlorine smell.

An exemplary stay.
My experience at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Shanghai was truly unforgettable. From the moment I arrived, the professionalism of the hotel team was evident. Their proactive service, meticulously confirming all my needs, set a wonderful tone for the entire stay. The guest room design perfectly balanced aesthetics and functionality. The smart home system allowed for effortless control of the room's environment, and the specially selected mattress and high-quality bedding ensured an excellent night's sleep. The panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows offered stunning views of the bustling city and river, while cleverly keeping out any external noise. The independent workspace was a particular highlight, with high-speed internet and an ergonomic chair making business tasks easy and comfortable.

The service team was outstanding; whether I needed extra amenities or information, their response was always prompt, and the staff consistently maintained a professional yet warm demeanor. The breakfast spread was extensive and exquisitely prepared, with staff always attentive to guests' needs. In-house guests also received a substantial discount on the dinner buffet. This stay truly highlighted the hotel's meticulous attention to detail. From the thoughtful configuration of hardware facilities to the optimization of service processes, everything demonstrated a high level of professional management. It is indeed a top choice for travelers.

This is the 223rd hotel we've visited with our kids. This weekend, I randomly picked a highly-rated hotel in Shanghai. I've stayed at several Marriott properties before, but this was my first time at a JW Marriott. I felt there were quite a few issues (especially compared to other Marriott and Renaissance hotels I've stayed at this year):
1.  Upon arrival, our room wasn't ready. We were told they'd call us once it was cleaned, but we never received a call.
2.  Our package included dinner for two adults and one child, but the buffet restaurant didn't assist with reservations or seating. As a result, the three of us were crammed into a tiny two-person table.
3.  The dirty dishes were stacked ridiculously close to the dining tables, lol.
4.  The breakfast selection was sparse, and only one station was open. Due to the high number of guests, they clearly weren't paying attention to quality; even the wontons were undercooked.
I could overlook these issues if this were a Courtyard or Fairfield, but for a JW Marriott... hmm.

A truly satisfying stay! The JW Marriott Hotel Shenzhen is indeed a top-tier hotel. The lobby exudes a light luxury and grand atmosphere, and the public areas are spotlessly clean. The staff at check-in were very professional and explained everything meticulously. The room layout was well-designed, the furnishings were exquisite, and the cleanliness was meticulously maintained—even the corners were sparkling clean. The mattress had just the right firmness, ensuring a sound sleep until morning. During my leisure time, strolling around the hotel was very pleasant, offering a tranquil and comfortable environment. The guest relations team proactively checked on our experience, and any issues were addressed promptly. The hotel restaurants offered a wide variety of dishes with fresh ingredients. Overall, the experience was comfortable and relaxing, making it perfectly suitable for both short stays and longer trips. I genuinely recommend it to anyone traveling.

During our stay, our butler Cassie, knowing my child is sensitive to dust, was incredibly thoughtful. She not only arranged our room perfectly in advance but also added some lovely parent-child decorations, showing great attention to detail. It's clear they genuinely consider guests' concerns and proactively offer caring solutions. The whole check-in experience was very comforting!
The bed was super comfortable, making us feel completely at ease.

This Marriott is in a great location, making it very convenient to get anywhere. Another plus is how diligent the cleaning staff are; they change towels twice a day, and even fold clothes left on the bed when I leave in the morning. Their attention to detail is truly exceptional. I'd even go so far as to say it's the best housekeeping service I've ever experienced in a hotel. However, I do have a minor complaint: the bathroom lacks an exhaust fan, and the toilet isn't a smart one. These aspects feel a bit subpar compared to the overall positioning of the hotel.

I brought my two children to Beijing this time and we stayed at this hotel for the entire duration of our trip. The hotel is conveniently located, very close to SKP and Huamao Shopping Center, making it easy for both shopping and dining.

The hotel staff's performance is also highly commendable. A special thanks to Ms. Iris, who checked us in. She was not only warm and friendly but also meticulously introduced all the hotel's facilities and directed me to the concierge desk to get a Beijing tourist map, which made us, first-time visitors to Beijing, feel much more at ease. Additionally, the hotel breakfast was very thoughtfully prepared; I was especially impressed that fresh peaches were offered among the fruits.

Overall, it was a pleasant stay, and this is a highly recommended hotel!
