"Really nice stay, the girl checking us in was so lovely she had curly hair and was American. We cut our stay early because our car rental ending up getting approved a day early and we couldn’t get a refund which is fine, but she was lovely and offered us a coffee. Pool was nice, showers were good, rooms were clean, maybe a bit small but I’d come again for sure"

"Was nervous due to past reviews, but found the reception staff friendly and helpful & the facilities really good. The room was basic but location was walkable and, whilst a little noisy at night sometimes, the other guests were kind and considerate. Would stay again!"

"I had a great stay at Gilligan’s! The room was spacious and clean, and I was even lucky enough to have the whole dorm to myself one night. I still managed to meet plenty of people, despite being a solo traveller, thanks to the social atmosphere and nightlife. It’s worth noting that the bar/club area didn’t really get busy until late in the evening (11:30pm onwards), and the hostel is pretty deserted during the day thanks to everyone being out on tours/experiences. My room was overlooking the pool/bar area, so did get noisy at night, but the hostel offers free earplugs at reception which did the trick. It was great to have an en-suite in the room, and the bathroom was in good condition. The location is ideal, right within the hub of Cairns City, however I didn’t feel particularly safe as a solo female traveller in the area at night, so it’s definitely important to be aware of that/travel in a group where possible. The on-site travel agency is helpful and approachable, and staying at the hostel means that you can get discounted drinks at the bar and free club entry before 11pm. I didn’t end up going to any of the weekday themed nights, but at the weekend the vibes downstairs were good. I would definitely recommend Gilligan’s to any young solo/group travellers who want to meet new people and experience Cairns’ party scene at a budget-friendly price!"

"When the plane arrives at the hotel by TAXI, the fare is 26 knives. The hotel is located near Cairns central. After going left for 30 meters, there is an alley to the east. You can see through the alleys. The supermarkets are all available. The Cairns Railway Station is also here, and you can also take the train from other cities. Go east along Cairns central, then turn right to the pier and walk for about 15 minutes. It is full of bunk beds, suitable for backpackers and young people who are traveling poorly. The public bathroom is very clean and kitchen utensils are provided free of charge. There is a leisure area and swimming pool in the courtyard on the first floor. If English is good enough, you can make a lot of friends. The front desk, a man, a woman and two are very friendly, in short, an unforgettable trip!"

"Can I put 6 stars? :) This place is definitely one of the best hostels ever. Where do I start from? Reception: everyone is always super kind and helpful, including offering help with luggage and everything else. The hostel looks very new and modern, so beautiful! Room: it's great! Big enough, with hangers, curtains on each bed (amazing!), plugs and light for every bed and also some extra plugs around the room. Bed was very comfortable and I felt great there! Bathroom: always clean, soap in every sink and in every shower, big and nice! Kitchen: incredibly well equipped and open 24 hours. There are 2 doors separating it from the rooms so it's never noisy even if people are there in the night. They provide big boxes that fit in the (many) fridges so that it's all tidy and clean. Goodbye the hundreds of Woolworths bags and messy fridges with no space for other people's food! Even the cups, the dishes were perfectly clean, like everything else. I was seriously impressed, they did the cleaning multiple times a day. Free salt, oil, tea and coffee always available. Common areas: really beautiful, full of books, games, with a huge TV and many tables and beanbags. Events: they actually organize social events and the staff helps the ”new” people to socialize. That's so important! Many long termers don't really mind about meeting new people but if the staff does his part then it gets a lot easier. And here, they do. On my first night they had a free cheese and wine event and we got a lot of tasty food and wine. Location: perfect, just above Woolworths and a few minutes walking from everything. The Little Drifter feels more like an hotel than a hostel and I really don't know how people can rate it low. As great as it is I would still like to suggest some possible improvement. Maybe at the Reception you can print a map with a few info about the hostel on the back. I didn't understand where the boxes for the kitchen were, I didn't find the labels. Also it took me 3 days to find out that I had another toilet a lot closer to my room, so for 3 days I was crossing a very long hallway in the middle of the night when I had to go. I also didn't like the fact that I had to open the doors through the app and I discovered later that there is a code to open it as well (I try to leave my phone in my room as much as possible). This hostel is a little more expensive than other places but it's totally worth it! If I'll be back in Cairns I won't hesitate to come here. Thanks!"

"For the first time backpacker experience, this hotel with a high local rating is actually transformed from several residential villas, and there is a small swimming pool in the middle yard. Kitchen sharing. Here you can make what you want. The plane arrived late at midnight on the day of check-in. After Ctrip's emergency coordination to adjust the arrival time, Ctrip is still reliable at critical times! The brand is still trustworthy. Go to the designated location and open the first side door, then go to the designated location at the front desk to pick up the room key. The family room has a large bed, a small bed, and a large sofa in the living room. Actually, it can be used for four or five people. In short, if the requirements are not too high, the price is 0k. Another thing is the hotel staff service is very nice! After opening the first door on the night of the check-in, we happened to meet the hotel manager and checked in directly for us without leaving that night. We also took the initiative to tell us about the use of the hotel. This hotel is recommended, Ctrip platform is reliable!"

"It was a very cozy hostel. The mixed share rooms have individual beds instead of bunk beds, so you don't have to disturb someone else's sleep, which is a big plus! The owner is a very calm and kind person, and he starts by giving us a thorough tour of the surrounding area and the hostel. There is a garden and a pool, and the kitchen is equipped with salt, pepper, and oil, and we could drink tea and coffee freely. It was also nice that we didn't have to buy a few condiments just to cook for ourselves for a few nights. The people staying there were friendly, and it's been a while since I've come across such a cozy hostel. I'd like to use it again when I visit Cairns! I really recommend it to everyone!"

"Clean public kitchen and swimming pool. The cleaning lady tidied the room very cleanly and quickly. It is very close to the public swimming pool, so you can just change your clothes and walk over. It is right next to it."

"On the same day, I booked another accommodation for my friend, but after booking, the customer service said that there was no room. We booked somewhere else at six o'clock in the afternoon. The housing is relatively tight, so it is more expensive, the customer service applied to make up the difference.
