"The onsen quality in Gero district is really superior. Skin feels very silky. The floor structure can feel confusing but we got used to it very quickly. The hotel offers good onsen and kaiseiki experience at economical price. Lots of local Japanese so it felt very authentic. The only downsides are 1. lack of entertainment options eg local performance, art & craft for young kids 2. Very crowded breakfast time. They could arrange different breakfast halls to divert the crowd or give timeslot tickets in advance."

"This is a well-established, classic hotel. As foreign tourists, we definitely took advantage of local resources here. The Chinese restaurant inside isn't really worth trying, but unfortunately, it was the only option available for reservations on the day we stayed. The hot springs, however, were fantastic; it was lovely to quietly enjoy the beauty of fewer people during the off-season. Breakfast was also very good, and all the guests were polite and queued orderly, which made for a harmonious atmosphere – something I hope all travelers can experience. To the right of the main entrance, there are geta (wooden clogs) you can try on, and a short walk to the nearby river leads to a hot spring footbath, which was very pleasant."

Gero Royal Hotel Miyabi-tei is the Japanese-style hotel located at the center in Gero hot spring resort. The hotel has various baths such as cypress bath on the roof top with nice view and garden open-air bath. Meals are served by the best material in season of Hida. Dinner and breakfast will be served in room.

"The overall experience was very satisfactory, and the Mandarin-speaking waiter arranged for us from Hong Kong and the communication was smooth. There is no shuttle bus at the location, but it takes more than ten minutes to walk from the JR station. If the luggage is not heavy, it is not too far. The hotel is beautiful, there is a letter shop at the beginning, and there is a foot bath hot spring pool. The seventh floor is a separate hot spring pool for men and women, with an open-air pool. The male soup faces the direction of the station and sees different scenery sooner or later. The female soup is very private, but there is no scenery. It seems that you can order private baths for men and women, but we have no time to try this time. The room is large, you can choose to make a bed, there is no problem for four people, but this time it is only my girlfriend and I. The view of the stream outside the room is particularly beautiful at night, but it is very light in the morning. It is recommended to bring your own blindfold to sleep later. There are special activities on Saturday, there are many performances and stalls, very atmospheric. Finally, meals, breakfast and dinner can not be missed, you can enjoy at a few designated times. We stayed for two nights, two days have different menus, the dishes have signature flying yak and fish raw, but the cooking method is different, very pleasant, it is recommended that two nights do not need to transfer to the hotel."

"The service is very good, starting from the station pick-up, to the restaurant service, night room laying, and hot spring care. They all reveal a well-trained professional spirit. Although the room facilities are a bit old, the climbing elevator, mottled tiles, etc., combined with the decent and appropriate service, give people a very ”gentlemanly” feeling. I will come again next time."

Gero Onsen is one of Japan's leading hot springs. Please enjoy the beautiful skin in the open-air bath where you can spend a relaxing time in the clear air.

"This hot spring hotel is mostly occupied by Japanese people and there are very few foreign tourists. Everything is better than expected, and the package with two meals is very cost-effective. The room is in traditional Japanese style, very large and old but very clean. The hot spring pool has indoor and outdoor areas. When I went to soak in the outdoor area at 4 pm on the first day, I was the only one there and the environment was very good. When checking in, the front desk will let you choose the dining time. The buffet is divided into three time periods. I chose the earliest time period. It was basically full every time, and there were a lot of delicious food. According to the comments, there is a free shuttle every half an hour, but in fact, the shuttle needs to be booked in advance and is not free. I walked to the hotel because I didn't wait for the shuttle. People with a lot of luggage are advised to take a taxi or leave the large luggage at the station because the second half of the walk to the hotel is uphill and it is tiring to drag the suitcase."

"Traveling during the National Day holiday, we booked a one-night stay with two meals. After arriving at Shimonokusu Station, an old man holding a sign guided us to the shuttle bus, which was surprisingly full. The meals, for this price (though there was a holiday premium), weren't quite on par with what we've had in Hakone or Okinawa, but they were certainly filling. We were attended to by a Chinese-speaking staff member. The private onsen in our room had extremely hot water, requiring a lot of cold water to temper it. Finally, when checking out and heading to the station, the hotel arranged and paid for a taxi for us."

"The hotel is settled in the middle of Gero Hot Spring town, short walk from the train station and can also be reached via bus from Kamikochi area. The hotel itself is very clean and well maintained. You can feel the spirit of older times in this hotel with a lot of beautifully selected decoration pieces. The manager showed us around and even offered us a new room since I accidentally booked one without shower (we declined that offer since we only wanted to stay for one night). That’s why we used the Onsen area for showering which is beautiful and includes all amenities. View above Gero and including an outside Onsen area to watch the sunrise. The staff was very friendly, the manager even drove us to the bus station since we forgot our jackets in the bus. The bar is well-equipped and a great place for a drink or two. One of the best parts was the breakfast. Never had such a good Japanese breakfast before- delicious, served in a private room, beautifully arranged. Next time we want to try their dinner :-) We felt like family and I can recommend anyone going to Gero to stay at this great hotel! Thanks again for your hospitality!"

A hot spring inn located on a hill above Gero Onsen. Surrounded by rich nature, the hot spring town is full of life and becomes even more atmospheric after sunset when the lights are lit.

"The hotel facilities are relatively new, but the service is very poor. There are no bags or handbaskets for bathing and towels in the room, and there are no disposable socks. The food is not fresh, the fruit is actually frozen, and the hotel is not located in the hot spring street. I booked this hotel to try my luck because I couldn't book anything else. It's not ideal, and the price is not cheap. It costs more than 3,000 per night for two people."

Amazing
GGuest UserAlthough it is a home-operated bed and breakfast, the service facilities are no worse than large hot spring hotels, and even the service is more courteous than large hot spring hotels Location: The guesthouse is located closer to Onsen Street, about 15 minutes from JR station Service: Since we arrived at the hostel early, the staff helped us store our luggage and was very courteous to provide us with a map of the surrounding attractions to introduce us to how we can play; Hygiene and facilities: The inn with a light fragrance, very comfortable; loan cut is also one of the features of this inn, after soaking in the hot spring also prepared refreshing wheat tea for us 👍

GGuest UserLovely onsen ryokan. Staff don’t really speak English so there’s a bit of trying to figure things out for yourself.  Nevertheless, service was friendly and helpful as best they could.  The outdoor onsen is really relaxing and because it’s not a crowded hotel, both times I went I had it to myself as did my wife and kids in the ladies area.  We picked the room with its own outdoor onsen tub which is a great option if you don’t want to use the non-private ones.  You can apparently book private onsens but they did not have any available for us (possibly because we arrived slightly late in the day).  Food was excellent for both dinner and breakfast.  Kids couldn’t;’quite enjoy the onsens cause they found the water too hot so you may want to make sure your kids can before you decided to splurge.  One final point, the ryokan is located down a tiny road on the right just before Google Maps tells you that you have reached.

The old man at the front desk only helped with my shoes. His English was terrible. When I called the front desk at night, no one could speak English.”,”2: The rooms in the main building are quite spacious and comfortable, but there are no showers in the rooms. Gero Hongyekan Wanboting is really great! In Japan's three famous springs, Geroizumi, the service is very good. There is an open-air bath on the roof of a sister hotel, and there is a car to pick up and drop off at any time from 9 to 12 in the evening, which is very convenient. The water quality is so good, the sun that soaks up the skin will slide down when it falls on it. A wonderful hotel experience! The beauty at the front desk drove me out to buy urgently needed products when I was in an emergency. Every detail was great. The Japanese-style room was also spacious. I really like this place. I will definitely go again if I have a chance, and I will definitely stay here again. hotel. Breakfast is included, and the environment and ceremony are very beautiful! The hotel itself has indoor and outdoor hot springs. When it snows, get up early in the morning to soak in that outdoor hot spring, which is quiet and beautiful! Its sister pavilion has a very strange inclined elevator, and the hot spring water is the smoothest I have ever soaked in.

JJungseokExperienced the best satisfaction at a ryokan and not expensive price. The building is old and old, but it was well maintained and clean, and unlike the appearance, the interior was quite spacious. The owner's family were very friendly and provided the best service and meals. The hot springs are small too, but the water is very good, clean. It's a place I definitely want to visit again later. Thank you! :)

I was worried about getting around because it seemed remote, but they provided pick-up and drop-off service, so it wasn't a problem at all. The food was delicious, the room was spacious, and the hot springs were wonderful. The staff were also very friendly, which I appreciated.

Ssjf1986aaaIt is a sister hotel with Fugaku next door. Before we even got to the door, the old man of the hotel came over to confirm whether we were staying. The names of the people matched. When we left, the old man was waiting for us at the door very early. When we went out for a walk, he also thoughtfully prepared a map for us. The service of the older generation of Japanese is really amazing. There is a special room for breakfast and dinner, which tastes good. There is a private bath in the room. Open the window to the outdoor private bath. Hehe, there are several hot springs upstairs and downstairs. My wife took a bath three times a day and soaked in all the hot springs. Gero is not big, so it is suitable for a leisurely stroll for half a day, eating some snacks, returning to the hotel to taste food, watch the snow, and take a bath.
