"The hotel is a bit old, a common issue with older Japanese hotels. The front desk staff are all older folks, but their attitude is excellent. 1. Yukata, towels, and toiletries are all provided and free. The room has a bathtub, but for a hot spring bath, you need to go to a designated floor. It's great value for money, and the room is very spacious, making it cost-effective for multiple people. 2. The cleanliness is what you'd expect given its age; I went in with realistic expectations, as it's hard for old hotels to meet strict hygiene standards. 3. The location is excellent and convenient for transportation. It's very close to Ito Station, and you can take the first bus in the morning directly from the starting point to Mount Omuro. 4. The sea is right outside the window, so the view is fantastic! You can even watch the sunrise from your room."

"We had a wonderful stay at Yokikan. My husband especially loved the outdoor hot springs — it was one of the highlights of our trip. Staying here was a truly special experience and gave us a real sense of Japanese culture. All the staff were very kind, attentive, and took great care of us. The owner also kindly drove us back to the station when we checked out, which we really appreciated. The garden was beautiful, with a small waterfall and lovely koi fish. We will remember this stay for a long time!"

"Followed the navigation for about ten minutes to get there. You take off your shoes at the entrance and change into slippers before entering. Check-in was smooth with instructions in Chinese. We quickly confirmed the dinner and breakfast times and locations. We chose to have it in our room, and they called beforehand to confirm if we were ready. After eating, we just put the dishes back in the box and left it outside the door. Dinner was delicious, and breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The portions were also very generous. They offer luggage storage. We went to the hot springs both in the evening and in the morning – so relaxing! Of course, we paid the hot spring tax when checking out. Highly recommend."

"We were very satisfied with both the room and the service. I highly recommend booking a package that includes both breakfast and dinner to experience the full Japanese service. For families or couples, after checking in, you can use the in-room phone (dial 8) to reserve a 50-minute private family bath session with the front desk. (You might be able to get the key a bit earlier depending on availability.) The cost is about 1680 JPY, which is quite reasonable. Prices for additional drinks, meals, and SPA services are also within a sensible range. One thing to note is that the hotel is located halfway up a hill, so I don't recommend walking there if you have large luggage. You can contact the hotel in advance to inquire about shuttle bus options or take a taxi from Ito Station. If you absolutely must walk, do not follow Google Maps' route from Minami-Ito Station, as this path involves climbing stairs and going over a hill."

"This is a great onsen hotel. First, regarding transportation: the hotel is near Izu-Kogen JR station, about a 10-15 minute walk. However, I highly recommend against walking with luggage as there are many uphill sections. The hotel offers a shuttle bus service from the JR station in the afternoon, reportedly every 15 minutes. After booking, the hotel will inform you of the bus schedule. One thing to note is that the bus stops in the parking lot and the hotel name on the bus is 'Hachiman-no-Onsen-no-Sato' (八幡野温泉之乡), not 'Kira-no-Sato' (基拉之乡) as listed on Ctrip. Next, let's talk about the hotel environment and facilities. It has a rustic resort style, with farmland, a waterwheel, and a stream within the premises, creating a very pleasant and tranquil atmosphere. We chose a Japanese-style room on the second floor; there's no elevator, and while the room facilities are a bit old, they are well-maintained. The public bath (dai-yokujo) has several pools, both indoor and outdoor, which are quite nice. Finally, about the service: This hotel seems to be a traditional four-star onsen hotel. The staff's service is attentive and efficient, but not overly enthusiastic. The front desk offers complimentary drinks, and there are free snacks at different times of the day. Both the breakfast and dinner, included with the 'one night, two meals' plan, were excellent. Over half of the hotel guests are Japanese. Overall, it was a very good experience."

"This is a historic hotel where you open the doors with a key. There's a large supermarket and two convenience stores nearby, so meals are never an issue. The supermarket also has a washer/dryer combo. You have to lay out the futons yourself on the tatami mats. Given its age, although there are many outlets in the room, there are no USB ports. The hotel offers a daily shuttle to the nearby train station, and they'll ask you if you need it at check-in."

"I've always wanted to visit Izu, and after seeing recommendations online 🤔, I decided to check out this guesthouse. And it certainly didn't disappoint! 🫵 The owner is from Xi'an. After booking, you can message him on WeChat or email him to let him know your estimated arrival time in Izu. 👌 He'll personally pick you up from the station, and if you want to visit other attractions, he'll also drive you if he's available, saving you travel time. The guesthouse itself is beautiful 👏🏻, with a strong artistic vibe thanks to all the decorations. The proprietress is very talented 👍, and every corner of the room is stunningly decorated. I also have to praise the owner's cooking! 👍 If you're craving Xi'an specialties, you can ask the owner to cook for you. You can order à la carte or choose a guesthouse meal package (a heads-up: there are no restaurants or supermarkets nearby) 😜. We booked breakfast and dinner (for breakfast, you can choose between Chinese or Western) ☺, and the owner's noodles are absolutely amazing 😋. If you want to try Xi'an noodles, you can ask the owner to cook them for you (he mentioned they mostly serve noodles for lunch) 👌. I usually don't have much of an appetite for breakfast, so the owner specially made me a big bowl of Qishan Saozi noodles 🍜. Oh my god 😋, the sour and spicy flavors immediately opened up my appetite! Thank you to the incredible owner for saving my Chinese stomach! 🙏 Oh, and in the evenings, the owner will also take you to nearby hot springs ♨. If you want to experience authentic local hot springs, you should definitely try it! ♨ The owners are very easygoing, and after two days, it felt like we were old friends. I'm already looking forward to my next trip to Izu 🙂 and another taste of the owner's amazing Saozi noodles! 🍜"

"This was my mother and daughters' first international trip together, and thanks to this place, we had such a happy and enjoyable time! 🥰 Everyone was incredibly friendly, and both the outdoor private onsen and indoor hot spring bath in our room were clean and beautiful! 👍 My mom had been wanting to go to a hot spring for years, and she was absolutely thrilled and very satisfied. 💜 Dinner and breakfast were also fantastic; you could really feel the effort put into each dish, and we got to try new ingredients, so it was all delicious! 😍 If you're driving from Shizuoka by rental car, I highly recommend taking the toll road! We took the free road and ended up learning to drive in Japan 'Spartan-style' on our first day, thanks to the massive forest roads and fog. Haha. We received the best hospitality during our stay, which helped my mother and daughters make truly wonderful memories. 🧡 Thank you so much. We'll definitely come back with the whole family next time! "If you're undecided about which hot spring inn to choose in Ito, I highly recommend this one. It's a lovely, cozy inn with excellent hot springs and delicious food. Both the large public bath and the private baths were incredibly relaxing. The water was wonderful, leaving my skin feeling smooth. The meals were also exquisitely seasoned and delicious. They even showed creativity by changing the sauce for the abalone. Since it was late March, the menu was spring-like, focusing on fresh shellfish (there was also steak). I don't like large portions of fatty food or excessive amounts of food, so the portion sizes were just right, and the menu balance was perfect. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The lobby had a well-selected collection of games for rent, which the children enjoyed. If I had to mention one minor concern, it would be: * The private dining room was very dark even in the morning (the atmosphere was wonderful for dinner, though). It would be nice if they could adjust the lighting in the mornings. Also, since the smoking area is right next to the inn's main entrance, the view and smell are bothersome. I think it would be better to have a separate smoking area. Overall, it was a very nice inn! Thank you very much."
