Berlin Hostels

"It takes about 30 minutes to walk to the center, but the surroundings are quiet so you can sleep without noise at night. I think the security around was good. There is a shared kitchen."

"This is a very big hostel with hundreds of beds, though it did not feel cramped or loud. I had a quiet stay.   I stayed for 2 nights in a mixed dorm with three bunk beds and en-suite. The toilet and shower are separate which makes use easier. Hanson’s and shower gel is included, as is a hairdryer.   The room is spacious with tables and seating areas, this is also of use to those who on the top bunk who cannot sit on their bed as easily.  There is a mirror though a lack of hooks being only a hook and couple of hangers. The bed is of a metal frame and thus I was able to apply my travel straps and hooks to create places to hand my coat and bag. There is a locker big enough to take hand luggage sized bag (own lock needed).  The bed has a usb port for charging and a slot into which a phone will fit, though no individual light. The room has two lights and it is possible to turn on only one; the other people in my room came in and out at unsociable hours though we’re all respectful being quiet and also putting in the main light.   The mattress and pillow are comfy enough, you need to collect linen and make the bed yourself.  Everything was clean.  Reception is 24 hours though checking us via one of the 4 automated screens. It is through the machines that you do check in and pay tourist tax and the machine prints paper with your allocated room and bed number. You even activate the room card yourself. There is a sign in the desk with a map of blocks with room numbers in each one. That is all the welcome that you get; there is no explanation related to hostel layout or facilities. I had to ask in which direction to go to get to my block, the receptionist gave my directions and once I got to the room and found no bedding on the bed so went back to reception. The check in computer screen states that bed linen is provided free of charge and towels can be paid for at reception. The receptionist did not give me any bedding nor point to where to where to pick it up some thus I assumed the linen would be laid on the bed as in other hostels. The next day a person arriving in the room asked where he gets bed linen, he also did not get given any bedding even when talking with the receptionist. I do find it odd that you are expected to ask for the bedding: as this is the case I recommend updating the wording on the computer screen as it is ambiguous and gives the impression you only need to ask at reception if needing a towel.  There is a guest kitchen which has basic equipment: fridge, sink, microwave, 2 hot plates, 2 frying pans, 1 saucepan, some plates, bowls and some cutlery. There was one mug in which I made a cup of tea by heating water in the microwave. I recommend a kettle to boil water. The kitchen is sufficient for simple meals, making breakfast and sandwiches. I did not try the hostel breakfast.  There is one common area near reception with a bar and possibility to purchase food. Vending machines there. WiFi reliable. The common room can feel cramped when groups are there. There is good security as all entrance doors and lifts use card access. To access the guest kitchen ask at reception and they update your card.  The location is very good being 5 min walk from Ostkreuz train station. It is a direct line to Messe Nord where the bus station and FlixBus stop is. Easy to get public transportation into the cities. There are many shops, supermarkets and eating places nearby. Vegan kebab shop directly opposite.  Good value for money. I had a comfortable stay with no difficulties and I would stay again."

"Access is very convenient as it is just a short walk from the station. I just understand that it is a dormitory, but I was a little scared that all of them were men except myself in an 8-person room. I was quite worried about the smell of alcohol and noisy. I think it would have been better if you could consider the room by gender. There was a shower but there is no amenities so you need to bring it yourself."

"The price is very convenient, especially considering the central location and if you are traveling solo. The structure is well organized and functional. I appreciated the bathroom concept - even though it’s shared, you have your own individual space, which gives you privacy and comfort. I stayed for 6 nights and always found the bathrooms to be very clean. It was also surprisingly quiet. I was able to sleep well every night. For more sensitive sleepers, they even provide earplugs. Overall, a good option if you’re looking for an affordable, clean, and well structured place to stay in Berlin."

"this hostel is amazing. the location is perfect you can do anywhere you want from the hostel, it took 5 minutes to the nearest station. near shopping center aswell which is amazing. they served free coffee & tea, there’s a fully equipped kitchen that you can use, and the bathroom is so clean & spacious!"

"I lived in an all-girls dorm. The facilities and cleanness of the hostel were alright. Staffs were pretty friendly too😊 Yet I really couldn’t stand how there was only one bathroom on the floor I lived in (with two dorms on this floor), plus, the bathroom is the toilet and shower combined. This means anytime someone is taking a shower no one can use the toilet… quite inconvenient imo. side note: there seems to be no air conditioner in the rooms, it can be hot in summer."

"Good hostel , room are spacious and the bed is comfortable. Location wise it near to public transportation. The receptionist are very welcoming and helpful toward all the guess so i would highly recommend this place and will definitely come back here again."

"It is an amazing hostel! The infrastructure is really good and there are many cool events, types of rooms, a nice breakfast and everything is very clean. Ill definitely recommend to others and I had a really nice time during Berlin’s winter."

"Clean, social and well located EastSeven Hostel is clean, modern and well maintained. There are many young volunteers, and the staff are friendly and easy to talk to. Breakfast is available from 6:00 to 10:00, mainly milk and cereals. The hostel has a strong social vibe, with movie nights, drinking games and quiz nights. Many guests go clubbing together. The female dorm stays quiet at night. There are unisex bathroom and female-only bathroom, both with separate shower areas. The rooms are warm, with good heating, bedside lights and a hair dryer available (in the bathroom. ) — very comfortable in Berlin winter. Public transport is close: about a 5-minute walk to the U-Bahn and 10 minutes to bus stops. The airport is around 1 hour away, and Berlin Central Station just over 20 minutes. Tip: during U2 construction near Senefelderplatz, ride one extra stop toward Pankow and change back. Overall, a solid choice if you want a clean, social hostel with easy transport access."

"Located in a quiet residential area, the hostel is quite dark when returning from the subway station at night, so you might want to be careful. The room was clean, as were the shared showers and restrooms. The only problem was that there were no shared bathrooms on the first floor, and our room didn't have a private bathroom either, which made it quite inconvenient to walk to the bathroom every time. Hair dryers weren't provided in the room or in the shared bathroom; you had to borrow one from the front desk, preferably early in the morning, as they quickly fill up. All in all, it was quite good."
