"First, let's talk about the hotel's advantages:
Great location, close to Puji Temple. They offer pier pick-up and drop-off service. The breakfast, at 68 yuan per person, is quite good – the food is high quality and delicious. The room has Buddhist scripture-copying supplies (but the incense and the Sprite/Coke in the mini-fridge are chargeable). The twin room is also quite spacious.
Hotel shortcomings:
1. I booked this hotel through Ctrip, and upon arrival, they assigned me the first room near the elevator. I immediately questioned this, as most hotels, if they have other available rooms, wouldn't place guests next to the elevator. The staff claimed I hadn't made a specific request. (My question is, even without a specific request, why would you treat a guest this way if other rooms are available?) They then arranged for a room further down the hallway, facing north.
2. The next morning, I woke up to a large area of eczema on my left forearm. After analyzing the cause, I realized it was because the north-facing room was too damp, even with a humidifier. So here's the problem: when I first questioned the room's proximity to the elevator (at this point, I hadn't realized it was a north-facing room), and you were switching the room for a guest who was already unhappy, why didn't you offer a south-facing room? Why replace it with another north-facing room? I feel the hotel's service quality is very inhumane (lacking foresight). Although they later offered us a small fruit plate, the quality of this service feels completely mismatched with the hotel's caliber.
3. The soundproofing in the hotel rooms is terrible. We could hear conversations and even the TV from the adjacent room. This is a bit unacceptable. The wall materials in the hotel rooms are very poor (no wonder they provide earplugs by the bed).
Finally, the hotel gave us an incense holder with a Great Compassion Mantra as a farewell gift."
