"If I were to rate the room alone, this guesthouse exceeded my expectations. Even though I booked a special offer room in the basement, there were absolutely no issues with ventilation or natural light. On the contrary, on a warm winter day, bathed in the soft glow of the lights, it felt like my own cozy little haven. If I visit again, I'd still choose this place. (The lady at the front desk was beautiful and kind-hearted, always willing to help and answered every question with a smile, which truly warmed my heart.) Now for the downsides: breakfast was served about a 10-minute walk from the guesthouse, which isn't a huge deal. However, the breakfast service was a world apart from the guesthouse's excellent service. The staff didn't even lift their heads when we entered or left, completely engrossed in their TV show. And they didn't provide Wi-Fi, which I consider a very basic service, right? Also, could you please avoid serving rotten fruit to guests? The breakfast quality was more about presentation than substance; it looked good for photos, but the taste left much to be desired."

"Traveling for business used to mean staying at chain hotels, so I was pleasantly surprised to book one of Datong's top two hotels this time. The off-season rate was incredibly good value. The facilities are top-notch, and the service was beyond satisfactory. The breakfast, in particular, was very extensive; it's the first time I've ever had steak for breakfast at a hotel! The check-in and check-out processes were simple and convenient, and they even upgraded my room proactively. I'll definitely choose this hotel first for my next business trip to Datong!"

"Beautiful new hotel. Very friendly staff who offered two gifts to every room during the national holiday. Room felt spacious and luxurious and was sunny and mostly quiet during a very busy holiday period. Hotel restaurant was also delicious with good service. We ate there twice. We also had breakfast everyday of our stay. Very nice quality including lots of local ingredients and choices was fantastic! The hotel is so conveniently located in the ancient city. Walking distance to a really nice cafe with great coffee, lots of restaurants and all the main attractions including pop up laneway markets selling ancient treasures. Honestly, it’s a fantastic hotel and felt worth the price. "The room was spacious, clean, and bright. Although the en-suite bathroom was a bit compact, its layout was very practical and well-designed. We really liked the integrated smart controls throughout the room, and the hotel staff were wonderfully warm and attentive. The L'Occitane toiletries were a nice touch. However, the hotel's biggest disappointment was the breakfast served in the basement. It was simply chaotic! The food and drink stations were disorganized, and the seating area was a complete mess, with tables and chairs crammed everywhere, even spilling into the aisles – clearly an attempt to seat more guests. The staff themselves seemed overwhelmed and disorganized, constantly rushing around to clear tables while guests stood waiting with their plates of food. This was during an off-peak travel period; I can only imagine the sheer chaos and shoulder-to-shoulder crowds during peak season. Fortunately, there's a Fenglin Pavilion downstairs serving dim sum, where for around 20-something RMB, one could enjoy a satisfying meal in a much more pleasant setting."

"The staff upgraded us to a suite room upon check-in. Also provided daily fruit platter and 梨汤. Supper of 刀削面，egg and warm milk was great! Special commendation to 郭六女 for good service. Parking convenient."

"As a luxury hotel enthusiast, I'm absolutely blown away by this randomly chosen B&B – I really nailed it, haha! This is hands down the best B&B in Datong Ancient City! The location is absolutely fantastic, within walking distance to Huayan Temple and Gulou East Street, and you step right out onto bluestone paths and under red lanterns. Hygiene is top-notch, the bedding is soft, and it's well soundproofed. The housekeeper sent a super detailed guide in advance, covering everything from dining to accommodation and transportation, and even offered free pick-up and drop-off from the station. The traditional courtyard design is charming and full of Zen, and both the rooms and public areas are wonderfully designed – it's so comfortable you won't want to leave. For just over 500 RMB, what more could you ask for? If you're coming to Datong, just book this place without hesitation! Choosing to visit Datong during the off-season was perfect: amazing weather, uncrowded attractions, tons of great food, and this fantastic B&B. I absolutely love Datong!"

"Located on the east side of the Old City, we booked a room with an Old City view, which was stunning. We happened to catch the Datong drone show, which was clearly visible from the room. The room was large and spacious. I contacted housekeeping to get a new latex pillow, which was very comfortable. The bathroom was all Hansgrohe, and the shower was very comfortable. The room lighting controls were also very convenient. The breakfast wasn't particularly amazing, but it was well-rounded, with Chinese, Western, and noodle stalls, and was generally average. Parking was free and very convenient, making it very driver-friendly, a big plus. There are many restaurants on the street downstairs, making dining very convenient."

"It started and ended with descending the mountain. The aroma wafted from the entrance, instantly creating a positive impression. The facilities are absolutely top-notch, and the amenities are of very high quality. Turndown service and snacks/fruits were provided every night upon return; I was thoroughly taken care of. Service Team: I believe guests choosing this resort hotel have high expectations. The management team is mature and decisive in handling issues. Breakfast and rooms are good, and the rooms are very clean. I took the time to try the fitness center, which was fantastic. It would be perfect if the shower lighting could be adjusted. The front desk team is relatively young and responsive, handling issues in a standard way, but they need to improve their smart talk skills, as they directly address various guest questions. Other: - Some rooms still had a noticeable smell of paint or renovation (I thought that after years of preparation, this wouldn't be a problem). For those sensitive to odors, it's recommended to communicate this before check-in; - Due to the relatively high price of the lobby bar, it's suggested that some self-service tea and snacks be provided in the public area to add a touch of resort-style social interaction; - The handheld iron in the wardrobe is convenient. The sofa and wooden coffee table next to the bed could perhaps be better arranged. Thanks to the resort hotel for adjusting the check-out time according to our needs, ensuring a worry-free trip. "Although it's not inside the old town, it's not far away and easy to get there by taxi, plus it's very quiet. The room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was plentiful; I highly recommend getting a bowl of lamb offal noodles. All the staff we encountered were polite and welcoming, providing excellent service. During check-in, they proactively reminded us about the pick-up and drop-off service and arranged transportation for our departure. Knowing we had elderly guests, they specially arranged a quiet room for us that wasn't too far from the elevator. Overall, a very satisfactory stay, and I recommend it to everyone."

"This spontaneous trip was surprisingly pleasant. The B&B is new, the staff are very welcoming, and the stay was wonderful. On our second day, it was raining heavily, and we wanted to take a taxi to Huayan Temple. The owner offered to drive us and gave us an in-depth introduction to Datong along the way. Upon check-out, we were given handmade vinegar as a gift. The only minor drawback was that our room was located on the basement level, and the cell phone signal was poor. While we could connect to the Wi-Fi, it did not work for calls. Otherwise, everything else was very satisfactory."
